Title: TS3 Pregnancy Length Pack FINAL - 12hrs to 9mos!
Post by: Ashkitty on 2009 June 18, 00:28:02
Preface: I deleted my ponderings on teen woohoo that were here originally since that has, thankfully, been made a moot point at this time. This is also pretty officially my last update on this. On to the treasuaarrr!

Ashkitty's TS3 Pregnancy Lengths Pack

My original nine day mod (vr 1.5) has not changed, I just renamed it and stuck it in this pack. You don't have to redownload it.

This is [now] a set of Pregnancy Mods that changes the time your sims are pregnant, with a few other miniscule tweaks. I hope you're all happy now! ;P

I have tested things on my game, and everything seems to be working well. If you use this, please let me know. I'm a terrible debugger, but if you find any problems specifically related to this, I would like to hear about them!

With <3,
Ashkitty

   STANDARD NINE DAY PREGNANCY
"Still my favorite, not too little or too much for me!"

- Sims water will break when they go into labor!
- Sims pregnancy lasts nine days instead of four.
- Will begin showing pregnancy at four days.
- Start preggo walking after six days.
- Sims show full belly after seven days. Should blend up in size.
- Pregnant sims now get nine days off work.
- Will start having a chance of pregnancy motives at 12 hours, up from 8. Nausea should not be affected.
- Maximum days as an NPC Baby changed to 3, up from one. Why was it one. o_o

Bug fix: A time issue has been changed with baby birth. If you had an issue with vr 1.0, this should change things. If you install it during the middle of a pregnancy, I have no idea if it applies to that birth, so when it doubt, has another babby!

Bonus feature: You get a slightly increased chance of having multiples from listening to both kid tv and kid raido together (raised from the bonus you already get from vanilla TS3).

--> FROM HERE ON, everything remains the same as in my original mod, except for what is explicitly stated.

   TWELVE HOUR PREGNANCY
"Like an In'n'Out burger, only arguably less delicious!"

- Symptoms begin at hour: 1
- Small belly visible at hour: 4
- Funny walk starts at hour: 6
- Big belly time at hour: 8
- Begin contractions at hour 10 (has babby at 12hr)
- Special to 12hr: Contractions are 10 minutes shorter, cause.. it makes sense..
- Special to 12hr: No days off.

*I didn't want to make this as instant as possible, as I've seen a "have baby now" in the advanced debug options enabled by Pescado's awesome Awesomemod. It is not yet fully supported I believe, and I noticed it on an already pregnant sim only. If it doesn't work now (which incidentally I think it does...) then it likely will soon. Use that. :)

   THIRTY DAY PREGNANCY
"Give mom more time to be both bloated and pampered, especially for Epic Lifers!"

- Symptoms begin at day: 5
- Small belly visible at day: 15
- Funny walk starts at day: 20
- Big belly time at day: 25
- Begin contractions on day: 30
- Special to 30day: 30 days off.

   THE REAL NINE MONTH PREGNANCY
"If you use this, I personally think you are some sort of crazy. But, I guess we're all a little crazy, so enjoy it!"

- Symptoms begin in: 3rd month
- Small belly visible in: 6th month
- Funny walk starts at in: 7th month
- Big belly time starts in: 8th month
- Begin contractions on: End of 9th month, day 270 and hour 6480 specifically... wow!
- Special to 9mo: 30 days off, still. I do not know how to make "off work" start, say, near the END of the pregnancy rather than immidiately after the sim gets pregnant. Sorry. I figured 30 days off would make signifigantly more people happy than 270 days off, really.

Now, I hope everyone's happy! Furthermore, while I shall be supporting and stomping bugs out of these (though there shouldn't be any at all), I won't be making any more of these particular mods. I find this is a good range, and if you want something different, it's really not hard to do it yourself. Download S3PI tools and open any one of my packages in them. Edit the file and save it as your own.
It's really easy to figure out what's what, the code for this modification is pretty well-noted. If you want to do just this and run into trouble, pop me a pm or email and I'll be glad to help.

Oh, and I don't care whatsoever if you redistribute, just please, throw me a bone and credit me somewhere, and leave this original readme. Thanks!

Additional bits:

- Fully compatible with Awesomemod because Awesomemod is awesome.
- DO NOT INSTALL MORE THAN ONE OF THESE AT A TIME! I don't know that it would break your game, but it would probably screw something up at least temporarily. So just don't. I don't do tech support for that.

Superminifaq:
  - Can't Woohoo? Romance more. Yes, even if you're max relationship. My mod does not touch this.
  - Having 11, 20, 82 babies? Not my mod. Official bug.
  - Think my mod might be the problem? Don't delete it yet! Do this EXACTLY:
1. When you notice a problem, stop. Use "Save As" and save your game under a brand NEW name. This way you will still have your old last save.
2. Close game entirely.
3. Restart game. Is the problem still there?
3a. Yes - remove my mod and try again.
3b. No - See? Not my mod. ;)
If you answered Yes to 3a, please email me with a detailed account of the bug and I will either try to fix it, or direct you to some help.

Enjoy!

What I'd like to know...
- There is a file in game play data called "Pregnancy - Male". Has it been confirmed that there are, no way no how, no male pregnant meshes?

I do not think we know how morph data is stored on the game just yet.

Quote
- Are there also no teen preg meshes? I would assume not, but I have no idea. I know this was handled in TS2 - can anyone brush me up on how? (No mesh? Custom mesh? Altered adult mesh?)

Well in the case morph data is not stored on the mesh itself its not a issue because it will just morph the belly as per instructions.

In case it is like in TS2, the only way is to edit the mesh and give it pregnant morph data.

Quote
- Is there a friggin search in S3PI or the eh TSR tool? Postal has alphabetical, but doesn't list the same level of resource name, ie, the descriptive one. Hell, I'd settle for an alphabetical list by resource name at this point. That would make my corrupted little heart's dreams come true.

No idea but I doubt it, this is the early days of modding and so you can count yourself lucky if you are not forced to look at the files with a hex editor.

Quote
- It seems like it would be readily possible to allow at least teen, if not male, without displaying the pregnant bellies if there are no meshes. Thoughts? Does this RUIN the REALISM of male alien preg for you?

As I pointed out, it depends how the game works with morph data.

Also I have to say this:

Looking at the issue of Sims loosing their pregnant belly when nude, its possible the game does not handle pregnant meshes by morph data on clothing meshes but uses a set  pregnant clothing, that would force you to have to edit/create male and teen (male and female) pregnant meshes that was on how things were done in TS2.

There is no 17. That is still *12*. I'd be surprised if you managed to override what was a hardcoded script thing with an XML tuning, though. Does this actually produce 12-on-12? Did you disable the flag of woohoo as woohoo or something?

I just downloaded it and I will tell ya what happens.  I am glad I'm not the only one that thought the pregnancy was too short.  Guess I miss SimBlender and the kitty killer too much.  Oh, by the way thanks  (baaa)

Ack. I'm just trying to keep things from degrading like they did in the related retardo land forum thread, while earnestly looking for an appropriate place to hold this discussion and glean some help.

Disclaimer: I never modded Sims 2. I am not a modder, coder, scripter, mesher, or anything. I am a dedicated hobbiest with waaay too much free time. The code that seems to make sense to me when I find it, I mess with and test. What doesn't, I leave alone, or try to figure out how it works. I'm always open to new learning, even if it amounts to "stfu noob" and/or pointing and laughing.

As I mentioned above, no, I have not achieved T-T. I don't even know how to touch scripts at this point, so if you say it's a hard-coded one of those, I'll have to set the hurdle higher.

Things I've tried:
- Changing base and/or auto ability for teens to true for files such as beds (Beds.WooHoo+Definition, and others);
- Changing "Socialization (Romantic)" ... I don't remember all the details, but adding/removing little things, particularly related to AgeGroup though I have no idea what that truly defines;
- Changing "Socializing" Various things. Tried changing YAE to TYAE where applicable; Lots of fiddles with "Best Friend" (changing "intended commodity"; "isRomantic"; replacing almost the whole full segment of Best Friend with Romantic Interest stuff)
   - This interests me considerably, because depending on what I do, it either
       a. Breaks the game: No sim portraits come up and clicking on them does nothing;
       b. Does not break the game, however, a sim at Best Friend status, after talking to his friend, will be at Good Friend status and unable to move back up to best or beyond.

There have been a few other things here and there, but they're all just as silly and.. well, not working. The last bit at least has the most interesting errors. I think, maybe, now, possibly.. would it be a script conflict causing either the no-clicky break or the Good Friend Syndrome?

That said, of course, I am ignorant. I didn't play much base game with teens this time or last, mostly YA. Do teens (T/T, not T/YA or A) have the innate, vanilla ability to "Cuddle on bed" "Kiss on bed" "Makeout on bed"? They do have this ability in my game, but it seems to only work with my patch in. Granted, it could just be that the teen girlfriend I'm trying to get my teen boy to call over and cuddle is too distracted. They can still cuddle/kiss/makeout on a sofa. Maybe I broke it! :D

Drakron: Thanks, the current info on preg meshes, while grim, is still good to have knowledge of.

Well, that would explain why pregnant males show up as invisible/floating head (can't remember which it was). However, it is possible for men to get pregnant by their boyfriends - it's been reported by a few people. Now, why in this case they don't have preg meshes for this instance just baffles me. Let men get knocked up but don't provide the meshes? WTF?

Thanks for the mod, BTW :) It is a little weird when you're playing on epic and still only have a few days of pregnancy.

Custom meshes.  Jase made them himself (I believe) for InTeen, both male and female.

Jase's mod for Sims 2 turns the teen into an adult for the entire pregnancy. Therefore, it was never teen pregnancy.

The only mod coming close to true teen pregnancy is on sims2living.com.

Teen woohoo / pregnancy / marriage for Sims 3 is in the works.

Actually, AmberDiceless is right. They were custom meshes, but used adult animations. Pregnant teens were recognized as adults by the game, but still showed up as teenagers.

Teen woohoo for AL is here!

The Original Teen Woohoo for Sims 2, the mod that keeps teens in the teen life stage (other mods change them to adults), is ready for Apartment Life. Look in the mods download area. Teens can woohoo, marry, and even 'try for baby' if you so choose! Check it out! Please note that we ask for a small donation for this mod. All other content on the site is free with registration.

Very nice pregnancy was WAY too short.  In all honesty it seems even shorter than in TS2.  By the way someone else is attempting to make a teen woohoo mod.

http://www.customsims3.com/forum1/YaBB.pl?num=1244500701

By the way if your gonna tinker with male pregnancy would you mind making female/female pregnancy?  So annoying that you gotta have one of them use a disposable NPC to get a kid.

Thanks very much for this, wanted a teen / teen woohoo mod and a longer pregnancy.

The other person failed at the mod, so if this one works, then this is officially the first teen woohoo mod.

Thanks very much for this, wanted a teen / teen woohoo mod and a longer pregnancy.

The other person failed at the mod, so if this one works, then this is officially the first teen woohoo mod.

Just to clarify, all this package has is the preg mod. [My] teen woohoo is still nonfunctional and being banged around in my computer.

Oh, and LFox: Yes. If I can make male/male, I will totally try for female/female too. I mean, it's a balance thing. And they have meshes already; c'mon. :P

A completely worthless progress update:
So, I figure I need to at least take a look at what's going on with this whole scripting thing to move past the... lack of total functionality I currently have. I downloaded Reflector and Reflexil, and am trying to figure out how to actually look at the files I want. I think I'm supposed to decrypt d3dx9_31, as from what I understand it is a (wrapped? wut?) gofur for bigger, more interesting coded files, but.. I don't know how to do that part. The wiki entry on it is in Greek to me, though I've read it more times than anyone should have to. So I'm stuck at "...d3dx9_31.dll' does not contain a CLI header." Grah.

That said, I can understand why there's another teen woohoo (or several) in progress. People want the feature, and to a humble newb like me, the code readily available in the gameplay data makes it seem potentially easy. But as ya'll all know, no, it really isn't that simple. The mesh crap is, frankly, retardedly imposing, but I shall continue my chant of "iiitty bitty baby steps..." Depending on the solution to The Mesh Problem TS3, f I can get some code voodoo working, maybe I can find a mesher. Or, likewise, if someone else gets some code going, maybe I can try my hand at meshing. As a pompous Artiste with much association with 3d modelers, I actually do know exactly what this entails: kill me.

Lastly, I'm glad a couple of ya'll seem to be enjoying the preggy mod as is. It makes me feel all bubbly. :D

omgz it's eight pm and I just friggin woke up I hope this is coherent graaaaggghhhh zombehhh x_x

Next release of AwesomeMod will include an Anti-12-Woohoo disabler option. While it probably won't enable 12-woohoo out of the box, it WILL enable the ability for XML hacks to enable it. That is as much interest as I have in this matter, so the rest is up to you. If an XML hack is required to enable such a thing, someone else can make one, because I am too busy and uninterested to bother with it.

Thank for accepting my idea, not only me, many people ask for it too. I found that already committed relationship sims (like having boy/girlfriend or partner) won't accept any woohoo interaction (I use no jealousy mod). Can you also make to lowering the woohoo recruitment?

Back to pregnancy mods. Is this conflict or sharing the same xml file with Teen Woohoo and No Jealousy mod?
I found Teen Woohoo and Jealousy mod sharing the same xml file, and I must choose one of them.

I love the real nine month of pregnancy, it's like suspend the pregnancy. Nine days is also great.

Thank you for your pregnancy mod.

I'm having a bit of a hard time understanding everything that you're asking clearly, but here goes.

I have checked dizzymental's most recent teen woohoo with preg files and my mod should be FULLY COMPATIBLE with that. Mine should also play nice with the no jealousy.

As for TeenWoohooPreg and NoJealousy, I thought the awesomemod came with a new jealousy-off feature. Please try removing the No Jealousy mod and trying Awesomemod no jealousy with Teenwoohoo (and this of course). It may work better. If it doesn't, please pick one, or wait until it does.

For not woohooing, make sure you are romancing enough (i go ALL the way around the interaction circle) even if you have max relationship.

I don't know how offhand, nor am I particularly interested in, "lowering the woohoo requirement" ... I assume this means woohoo between lower relationship scores? Eh, it's not hard at all to get woohoo as is, for me, so.

Hope that helps.

Should be random - my son took a good 10 hours to pry his way out. All the while I was stuck with the horrible job of sitting there listening to my wife moan - the women have got it easy.

   THE REAL NINE MONTH PREGNANCY
"If you use this, I personally think you are some sort of crazy. But, I guess we're all a little crazy, so enjoy it!"

Yeah, seriously. Even with epic aging, they'd be pregnant for like, almost half of their lives? Maybe someone will mod the lifespans to add an ultra-epic realistic aging lifespan that lasts for 30,000 or so sim days, for ludicrously patient people, and then the 9-month mod will be useful. I've never been good with patience, myself.

Thanks for this mod. It's stupid that (apparently) pregnancy duration doesn't change with the lifespan setting.

Ashkitty, is there a way to make a mod like this where the labor is longer?  2 hour labor is not realistic at all...hehe...

Yes,  there is. Tutorial time!

Lets take my basic nine day. Open it up. Look at the code. The two relevant values are these:

Quote
<kHourToStartContractions value="213">

<kHoursOfPregnancy value="216">

See those numbers? The difference between them is how long labor is. I would leave "hours to start contractions" at 213, or whatever value it is, and increase hoursofpregnancy by one for each hour of labor I would like.

It really is very easy. Download S3PI and do it yourself.

Now, what I'm not going to do is go through and do that, for every one of these files, then resave them all and release different versions for each length. I already feel I've been a bit generous with people's requests for time, and until I find something with pregnancy I actually have a problem with, I'm done. As it is I think a quick labor is best for my simmies. I've never had a babby, but I'm scared of doing so, and I would want my sims to be comfortable and quick too. It's still a game!

Also I prefer home births and watching sims bleat at me gets irritating pretty quick.

Yeah, take it from me -- 75 hour labor with the epidural falling out (and them first just thinking you're resistant) so you have to do it au natural while being all exhausted and having half the hospital staff monitoring you to see if they need to CUT the babby out is... no fun.

But then again, a "difficult birth" negative moodlet could be awesome if someone could figure out how to make moodlets. XD MOAR MOODLETS!

Title: Re: TS3 Pregnancy Length Pack FINAL - 12hrs to 9mos!
Post by: Ashkitty on 2009 June 26, 12:48:05
Raz, that is weird. Can you tell me which length you were using?

MissKitty: I want to cuddle you because you share the name of my very first cat, who I got when I was three and who died last month. She had an amazing 20 years, but I am still in mourning. :(

On the labor thing... oh my god, wow, 75 hours? That by far tops the labor times I can think of off the top of my head. That is just awful, and I'm sure it was a nightmare. (But the babby was probably worth it in your eyes.)

I am terrified most of hospital birth. I am but an ignorant girl, but I'm firmly convinced that midwife/dr/home -- with a hospital 10 minutes max drive and transportation ready, ideally -- is the way to go. Shitty epidural placement? Shitty diagnosis? Shitty people everywhere, crowding you, stressing you, freaking out and talking about cutting your bits up.. augherekhl;k. *twitch!*

I haven't ruled out a birth center type birth, though. Not a hospital, but not as comfy as home. I also want pain meds, which I know they can do at home, but not to what extent.

Which, of course, may be me talking out of my ass (like non-parents giving parental advice). I might not even end up with kid/s; they're scary too. But I am terrified of hospitals and doctors and nurses and the whole hospital labor pushy-shovey experience. Gah.

Also, on topic, more moodlets would be great! But iono how yet. :3

MissKitty: I want to cuddle you because you share the name of my very first cat, who I got when I was three and who died last month. She had an amazing 20 years, but I am still in mourning. :(

Aww. *cuddle and hands you one of my annoying cats* It used to be MizzKitty, actually, from my 12-years, but while that went over all right on PMBD when I was active there, I figured they'd eviscerate me here at the MATY board for the z's. XD

Frightened rambling about giving birth.

*snort* after the birth and especially after the whole nightmare of me not being allowed to rest because they thought I should try and breastfeed all the time (never mind that I couldn't), I was SO ready to just leave him at the hospital. Or, alternately, leave him with his dad and go to some tropical island all by myself. Sometimes you just need SLEEP. Took me a couple of months after that to fully understand why I wanted a baby in the first place. XD

Around here, it's midwives assisting your birth, even at the hospital. The epidural was placed by an anesthesiologist and there was a doc at the ready in case they needed to open me, but that was it for the docs. I like midwives, but it got a little frustrating when a new one would come in and contradict the one before her. Finally, I just said 'fuck it', and did what I felt would work. Didn't take too long after that. (Of course, being double-triple-quadrouple induced because I was falling asleep and labor was stopping HELPED, seeing as that hurt as a BITCH.)

But don't let me frighten you. XD

Also, on topic, more moodlets would be great! But iono how yet. :3

It would be AWESOME! Regarding pregnancy/birth, I'd also like a random NEGATIVE moodlet for pregnancy (not just for the ones that don't care for children, because sometimes pregnancy just SUCKS) and I'd also like a very uncomfortable moodlet from the sim whenever she tries to sit down or use the bathroom for x hours/days after she gets home. You figure out why. ;P

No, they are not requests as I know it's impossible, just me living in my very own fantasy land...

What has happen now is my poor sim is forever prego she stop aging and is at 0 day tell adult and has now 20+ some days off work, going on week 4 with no babies. Each day seem to add days to her time off. Not sure how this bugged happened, any other other my sims have been fine with no bug so far, just the two Females on the same lot who have gotten knock up.

Is there a way to force the birth? or do I have to just Nuke the town?

This is just an idea, maybe worth a shot - try feeding her ambrosia, see if she will have the kid while not about to age, and then shift-click her and trigger age transition to get her back to her proper age? She's got plenty of time off to learn to make ambrosia after all.  ;)
