Didn't know there were several (live) links for the same thing floating around...

Seriously, just update your post to say what it is. Why would MATY, which freely shares links to ripped Store items, have a link removed to a file hosted at a third party? Especially when you got the site owner's permission to link it? Cut the confusion and say that it's the TS3 Prima Guide. Also, is this PDF or electronic version (tabbed)?

Title: Re: I asked Pescado...

It's PDF.

It's worth downloading, but ye gods, the amount of useless filler in between the tiny useful bits.  Particularly the "tips" and advice from the author ("Brownie Bites.")  This is probably good for the BBS sheeple, though.

PDF version...and I'm updating now.

Didn't update the fuckery to begin with cause another forum got skittish about it being named what it actually was.

Course I should've known that at the MATY, things are a bit more free.

To be honest, I'm a little surprised that the shared stuff (i.e. Sims Store material) is being displayed so openly, even here.  Generally that's restricted to the sister site, which is not usually directly named.

Yeah I thought the same thing about the SS...but then again, that's how it was/is with the Sims 2...so I guess it shouldn't be all THAT surprising.

Since when? EA store crap isn't shared through the booty. That is only for payshit. EA actually has the right to charge for their own crap if they want to which is why the Store stuff isn't in the booty.

Nah he didn't mean it like that. EA stuff has NEVER been posted in the Booty. He's saying that he's surprised that no one cares or is worried about reprisals from EA HERE, when there have been all kinds of (albeit hollow) threats about the "booty" from EA (over other paysite's shit) from time to time.

IIRC, EA sent Pescado a letter last year in which they threatened with a lawsuit, forgetting that if the files aren't hosted at MATY, there's nothing to do about it.
More info about the incident here (http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php/topic,13946.0.html).

Title: Re: I asked Pescado...If I could share The TS3 Prima Guide
Post by: Gus Smedstad on 2009 June 09, 22:25:47
Uh... I meant to say that.  Really!

To be honest, I've only skimmed the booty, so I wasn't aware it was exclusively about destroying pay sites.  I knew that was its primary mission, but I thought other less-licit stuff would go there as well.  So MATY would remain a bit safer.

However, it's true that there's been plenty of traffic about arr'ing stuff that EA really cares about, like Splotch and the Horror, so a link to something like the Prima guide seems minor by comparison.

I think it's also worth noting that this particular file seems to be a bootleg PDF.  In the sense that it looks like it's scanned and converted, rather than an original document.  Some pages are slightly out of focus, and there are slight alignment issues on a few pages.

Yeah I noticed that too...

There are a few pages that are sideways, which is easily remedied...so it may be a scanned in copy of the Guide like you said.

thanks for the prima guide...saved me some dough!

You're welcome but like Gus said it's a shit copy, so given what people were saying in this thread I looked around the forum and found a better version buried in a thread. Going to re-up that one and I would suggest you download that.

As for the comments...*shrug* this is MATY, par for the course. Didn't bother me a wit, cause I mean when you've been on the 'net as long as I have, you done seen it all...heard it all...screwed it all and bought the t-shirt.

And yeah I did edit it later...like I'm about to do again, with the new link.

The version in the rapidshare link in the first post is crap.  Which means, it's slightly blurry, which is evident when looking at the quality of the Pyro branding compared to the actual content.  I assumed I finally had glaucoma the first time I read it.

Just pointing the fact out so that we can track down a perfect one, like the torrent in the previous post to mine.  Not many seeders.

Thank you for the PDF version. I tried to download this with my discount coupon that I got with the OverPriced Collector's Edition. ($20 for a 2GB plumb bob, what was I thinking?) Of course, the discount code doesn't register or reflect in the price at checkout. And, there's no Mac OS version. I like this download version much better for the price.  ;D

It's PMBD (http://paysites.mustbedestroyed.org/).  The booty has been good for the community in my opinion, but the forums are far, far less Awesome -- although you'll still want to lurk for a bit to get the feel of things before posting.  Get your game help here, and go there if you want to rant about paysites.

Why don't you just go to a store, pick up the book, read some of it, and put it back? From what I've heard about this book, and what I know about Prima guides in general, 5 minutes should be enough to get all the useful information.

Wah wah, the quality of something that someone on the internet took the time to upload for me, and provided to me for free, is slightly reduced!
/me holsters his flamethrower.

I dunno. I'm just going to take a look at it to get a better idea of whether I want to pirate the game after JMP finishes his first TS3 Director's Cut.

We don't have any Sims Store material here. What users post and find on other sites is not something we can control. On PMBD, the discussion of such would simply be offtopic and wind up straight in Sharkbait as a result, as PMBD has a specific and narrow focus.

Bullshit questions; bullshit answers:  I'm too lazee to get my ass off the computer to get the store.  Doubt I even remember how to open a book, let alone read 50 pages per minute as you recommend.  That's gotta be hazardous, surely approaching maximum paper-cutage.

READ AGANE "Just pointing the fact out so that we can track down a perfect one."  Poor version was linked.  I said so.  Good version is now linked.  Don't argue with success.

Yeah, it's the same way at my Wal-mart. Target isn't quite as paranoid, but their version is shrink wrapped so as to prevent someone from actually (God forbid) perusing the book before reading it.

To peruse means to read thoroughly. One does not peruse a book while in the store.
But anyway, I thought books were usually shrink-wrapped because of sexually explicit content. What the the hell do they think there's in this guide?  :P

To peruse means to read thoroughly.

I intended to say thank you very much for correcting this common misunderstanding.  But rather than trust you outright, I looked it up.

peruse (http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/peruse)
1 a: to examine or consider with attention and in detail : study
b: to look over or through in a casual or cursory manner
2: read ; especially : to read over in an attentive or leisurely manner

EDIT:  I can't get my head out of dictionaries.
dictionary.com suckz.  1.to read through with thoroughness or care.  2.to read.  3.to survey or examine in detail.
dictionary.cambridge.org    -- to read through something, especially in order to find the part you are interested in:

It seems to be about 50/50 on thoroughness.   :o  What a stupid word.
I now figure I have to poke you for erroneously correcting someone.
So, get poked, tard.

The shrink wrap is also there to protect the book in some cases. Player's guides suffer a lot of damage in store by people who really just do not give a shit.

Looks like it's the case of a word getting misused so often the wrong use becomes accepted as correct. The first site you linked to holds the etymology:
Quote
Etymology: Middle English, to use up, deal with in sequence, from Latin per- thoroughly + Middle English usen to use
So, considering the Middle English, only the first definition is correct. Of course, considering the Middle English too often tends to make one not very popular at parties :P
