Title: Grainy & wonky :)
Post by: Dizzymental on 2009 May 31, 18:46:12
Anybody else getting grainy and/or wonky portraits? Easel paintings come out perfect but the portraits and cellphone photos are screwed- big grainy pixels and lopsided. I'd like to know a solution if somebody else had this problem and solved it. Cheers.

My sim painted a scenerey of the lighthouse on the small canvas and it came out grainy and fuzzy looking. It was so ugly she sold it. :D

This is a 'feature'. Max your sim's painting skill and the portraits should turn out (a bit) better. I'm assuming the crappy cellphone pictures are 'features' as well, so EA can include a fully-functional camera in future EPs.

Hey, are portraits different than cell phone photos?  When you say portrait, do you mean a painted portrait or a photographed one?

Is there such a thing as a photography skill or a trust skill, as in that little Sims 3 minigame?

Even at 10 skill, they suck. Master painter sims cannot paint any better than a 10 year old.

Most of the paintings are just generic photoshop filters, I hope they change them in the final version.

Do they have a time machine?

If so they could make MONEY and go back to 1900 and sell the game!!! THEN THEY COULD BUY A CHOCOLATE PIE A MILE WIDE!!!!

Anyway, when I had my first artistic Sim I was quite pleased with her early efforts but as she supposedly got better and better she actually became worse and worse. I kept all of her early work and sold all her later paintings.

I'd love to see the stuff EAxis people keep at home (if any). Must be quite a sight.

So very true, I had my Sim paint and paint like 10 of each type of painting in hope to get better (even though he was at level 10 and mini painting achievements complete).
After inviting Sims over to paint their portrait, it is still a massive fail on this side of things! Like mentioned, it seems to add random filters on the paintings (why?).
Why not paint what you see in the capture window, and/or at least allow the user to add funky filters? Gees! Thanks EA for this wonderful feature.

Worse than I feared. I was hoping it was something that could be fixed. If it's a "feature", then EA suck.
