Title: Missing Sim
Post by: Aggie on 2009 May 31, 07:52:52
So I was playing one household today and as soon as the sim got finished teaching the toddler how to talk, they both got stuck continuing the action. Nothing I did could stop them from continuing it; I then decided to try the tried-and-tested TS2 trick and activated moveobjects on and deleted the toddler. I stupidly saved the lot before I left and when I returned...no toddler. I quit the game and restarted but again...no toddler.

Anyone have any ideas as to how I can retrieve this missing sim?

Try "Resetsim"? Where the hell have YOU been, anyway?

Unfortunately, I don't know how you can retrieve the missing Sim, but resetsim Firstname Lasntame works very well for unsticking Sims.  Someone else tried the old standby of selling off their Sim with the same result.  I suspect this is no longer safe to do.

Try "Resetsim"?

Where would I find that option? Or is that a cheat code?

Where the hell have YOU been, anyway?

Limping along after downloading TS3 sucked up nearly an entire month's worth of bandwidth in 2 days. I am now paying $0.01 for every Mb of bandwidth I use online until 12:01 am June 1.

I'm glad you feel that way; I shall forward the $140 bill to you then.  :)

Aggie, you should have a back-up save you can use, if you're unsuccessful in retrieving the toddler.  The game apparently keeps the second-to-last one automatically.

Try resetSim first, but even if the toddler's icon is gone, you may be able to evict it from the town edit screen and re-merge.  If you have to take an adult out with it, move their inventory to someone else in the house first.

:D  same thing happened to me.  and resetSim worked perfectly.  yes it's a cheat code.

bring up the cheat code console (same as sims 2) and type in resetSim NAME OF SIM and your sim should be returned.

I needed to know this a couple of days ago. One of my toddlers got stuck in front of the fridge, then popped into another room. No one could use the fridge, so I moved them.

Just in case anyone is wondering, resetSim doesn't work so well when you've accidentally placed a sim in its own family inventory.  So, uh, don't do that.

This worked perfectly, thanks so much.  :)

Common sense forces me to agree with you here.  :-[
