Title: No Eat Crap II: Electric Boogaloo *UPDATED 12/21/05*
Post by: J. M. Pescado on 2005 November 17, 21:31:49
No Eat Crap returns for NL, now with "Don't Eat With Your Mouth Full" technology.

UPDATE 12/21/05:
Grilled cheese sims will now finish their grilled cheeses regardless of hunger level.

No Eating Crap 2: Electric Boogaloo (v1b) for TS2NL v1.0p2
Made by: Flying Fish Systems (J. M. Pescado)

Special Thanks To:
Quaxi, for writing SimPE
Phedge, for the original "No Overeating"

Congratulations to: Draklixa!

INSTRUCTIONS:
Place in your MYDOCU~1\EAGAME~1\THESIM~1\DOWNLO~1 directory.

CHANGES:
Sims (who are not fat or lazy) will no longer stuff themselves until they
explode. Lazy and fat sims will continue to eat everything and thus can
still become fat, because sometimes, you just want fat people. Sims who would
not eat out of a trash can will cease eating food that has gone spoiled.

Sims will talk considerably less when eating, especially if they are in a
hurry (because they're tired, starving, need to pee, have more orders), or
if they're eating without the benefit of chairs.

COMPATIBILITY:
This hack is fully compatible with all FFS hacks. Tested for TS2NL v1.0p1.
Replaces Phedge's "No Overeating" hack - do not use together.

SIDE EFFECTS:
May cause computer damage, incontinence, explosion of user's head, coma, death,
and/or halitosis.

Thank you JM, now my family can have breakfast together again. I had to feed them separately, because they talked so much, they ran out of time. I'm all for family togetherness, but sometimes (especially in the mornings) it goes on my nerves. If they accidently did have breakfast together I almost always had to cancel their actions so they could get to work/school on time.

I'm ususally pretty easy-going, but the green mist and the flies turn my stomach (because, obviously they couldn't clean up those darn dishes, because I practically had to throw them out of their house).

"Sims will talk considerably less when eating, especially if they are in a hurry (because they're tired, starving, need to pee, have more orders), or if they're eating without the benefit of chairs."

Will the above mention affect the way they act on dates on community lots? Will they speak less there too or it only apply in regular hood houses?

Is this hack about the same as Crammyboy's "eat more talk less while dining with reduced overeating V2" hack?

Title: Re: No Eat Crap II: Electric Boogaloo
Post by: J. M. Pescado on 2005 November 18, 05:05:43
This hack is similar, and modifies the same things. I think. So don't use them together. They'll talk slightly more when dining out than they will when eating at home, and they'll talk slightly more still if you they have nothing better to be doing, and are not starving or otherwise desperate. If you queue orders for them to do after eating, they'll talk less than they would if they were eating autonomously or as a single directive.

No, not only will Grilled Cheese Sims continue to like eating sandwiches (in a manner completely unrelated to no-eat-crap), but their habits will also receive official recognition in Macrotastics.

*dances merrily*

Crammyboy's hack was much appreciated, but I didn't like his method for calculating whether sims would over-eat or not. I play a lot of the Maxis-made sims with their personalities, and have a couple of favourite sims with low Active & low Neat. I didn't want to be having to constantly put them on the treadmill to lose the weight they'd put on from eating crap. And food poisoning isn't fun for anyone.

This is just what the doctor ordered for my poor pregnant sim living in a haunted house.  I think this fix could very well turn out to be a lifesaver when it comes to keeping the familys hunger at a suitable level while eating together.  I really like the idea that how much they talk depends on needs and queued actions for after the meal.   Thanks muchly J.M   :-*

I have this hack installed but it doesn't work. It used to. I'm pretty sure that it *used* to work when I first installed it (i.e. when I installed the NL update).

I have no idea why it stopped working. I don't have the "eat more talk less" hack, so it's not that. I've tried reinstalling the updated hack, and it made no difference. My sims are eating rotten food and stuffing themselves until the dish is polished.

Anybody else had the same problem, or has suggestions?

TIA,
Anna

Make sure you RTFM. Sims who are fat, lazy and/or sloppy will still be able to over eat, eat crap, and eat out of the garbage. If a sim can eat out of the garbage due to their personality, then those sims will most likely still eat crap.

All other sims shouldn't eat crap, and should stop eating when they are full.

Quote: Sims who would not eat out of a trash can will cease eating food that has gone spoiled.

This is the reason why I installed the hack. My Sims are all active, non-sloppy Sims. They will not eat out of the trashcan. However, even after installing the hack, they still eat spoiled food.  :D That's what I meant when I said it didn't work for me. Maybe it's one of those unsolvable mysteries?  :'(

Which is the spoiled food? Hrm... maybe it's something new in OFB? If food new foods are characterized differently or in some new way?

I vaguely recall reading something about how Pizza is not supported by this? But I don't see it in this thread here now... but I think I remember Pescado saying something about how Pizza is considered a separate object.

So... is it spoiled Pizza? If so... that might be the problem. Or... is it one of the new foods in OFB? If so... maybe that means this mod needs an update afterall to include/consider these new foods, which may be categorized in a different or new way.

Yeah, I was the one who asked him about the pizza, and he said it was a separate object that couldn't currently be hacked with this mod.  Then he fussed at me for letting my sims eat spoiled food.  ::)  He said macrotastics would never send a sim to eat spoiled food, but the sim in question was a guest at a wedding, and I had no control over her.  I just try to keep spoiled pizza cleaned up.  Whenever I see the "clean" option come up on the Macro menu, I send one of my sims to go do it.  If I do this often, usually it doesn't take long for them to clean, and it keeps spoiled food cleared away.  Of course, when I am intensively skilling all my sims, there is sometimes no one to clean, and then stuff piles up...kinda like real life.  :P

The talking is only silenced during low-food, IIRC, to prevent them from starving to death trying to eat while handwaving.

Do your sims have additional queued actions? The amount of yammering is greatly reduced if they have things they need to get to doing. Also, there is less jabber on Residential lots where you're on limited time, and even more so on Dorm lots to reduce dormie-babble, which tends to prove excessively fatal to dormies with their poor motive management, and causes your sims to unnecessarily meet them, resulting in panel, memory, and RAM clog.

You should be thankful about the anti-panel clog. Having too many sims in the rel panel can lead to serious UI problems.  :P

I haven't observed any actual PROBLEMS, other than the panel becomes clogged with gunk, and the fact that every relationship instantiation chews up that much more memory. And no, "hiding" them doesn't truly remove them.

Would No Eat Crap be the hack that no longer allows my sims to process leftovers? Since installing my Seasons-updated hacks, the pie menus in my (Maxis) fridges no longer contain an option for storing or retrieving leftovers. I understand that I can place leftovers in a sim's inventory, and that's what I've been doing, but I'd rather be able to simply click the fridge to have a sim either store or remove leftovers rather than digging around in the sim's inventory, which often contains many other things and thus takes much more time to do.

Title: Re: No Eat Crap II: Electric Boogaloo *UPDATED 12/21/05*
Post by: J. M. Pescado on 2007 October 29, 05:52:14
This seems very unrelated, given that No Eat Crap does not affect any menus at all. I place the blame squarely on tight pants.

Besides, you don't need to rummage around in your inventory for it. Macrotastics will automatically find and eat the inventoried food as needed.

Title: Re: No Eat Crap II: Electric Boogaloo *UPDATED 12/21/05*
Post by: notveryawesome on 2007 October 29, 06:35:08
That's good to know, though I'd still rather click the fridge. So, is Macrotastics to blame for my sudden lack of leftover-related options, or should I blame the non-Awesome? I fail to see what tight pants have to do with anything, let alone refrigerator pie-menus. :P

Same here, no problem with the pie menu.

If you are using cc fridge, some are probably not Seasons compatible check if they have not been updated.  If this happens with all fridge Maxis included, then make sure all the mods you have are updated for Seasons.

Yup - I have noeatcrap and macrotastics installed and no problem with pie menus.  My sims live on leftovers (for the most part).  There have been reported issues in other threads with some cc fridges not allowing leftover use.

No doubt. But here's an actual bug I noticed: Once your sim hits a certain number of sims in the rel panel (probably 256 or something dumb like that), the scroll left doesn't go all the way back to the start like normal. It just wraps around to the end of the list over and over.

I know about older CC fridges not allowing leftovers, which is why I only use Maxis fridges at this point (I did specify in my first post that it was the Maxis fridges I had problems with). Well, it looks like I'll have to go on a hack hunt and remove all food-related hacks for the time being until I can narrow down the problem. What a fucking PITA. Well, at least it's not Macrotastics causing the problems. I couldn't live without it.

Monique made a hacked gnome (over on MTS2) that can be used to remove sims from the relationship panel.  Only problem I had with it is that it only does one at a time, and it doesn't show the relationship level, so you have to make a list of who you want to get rid of first before using it.  It would sure be a nice addition to the lot debugger to cleanup all sims in the relationship panel with 0/0 stats (hint, hint :) ).

Title: Re: No Eat Crap II: Electric Boogaloo *UPDATED 12/21/05*
Post by: J. M. Pescado on 2007 October 30, 07:12:07
That technique does not work. It is not possible to remove a relationship entry from the game. "Hiding" with Monique's thingy does not actually remove it from the game, and if you search your datafiles, it is still there, wasting your memory.

So leave the queue empty? And no, it is not possible to make a seperate one, because that would have to modify the same BHAV. This would create conflicting versions, making it possible for me to put both such items in the game. More Awesome Than You functions as a single unified item, and therefore it is not in line with our design philosophy to intentionally create two conflicting products: Our products are ALWAYS compatible with all other current products.

It's just that I have a prob since there's this certain glitch when Pets is installed. Visiting sims from other houses who come and eat gain weight and if you play their family, they become fat. It wasn't like that when Pets isn't installed.

Chinese, Chips, Cookies, and perhaps a few others, all inflict automatic damage just for eating, regardless of hunger state. It is inadvisable to give food to visitors, as this costs money, is an unproductive use of time, and may harm your visitors, as you can't see their state.

Well, *I* can, but make-selectable out of the box messes up the visitor bits, invalidating your test results. Either way, I have not found any real value in giving visitors food. They will just go home and forget that they benefitted in any way from the food, anyway. Besides, it will probably even harm them. Sims have this annoying obsession with food, so the moment you put out food, all interesting activity stops and they start trying to stuff themselves regardless of whether they actually have tankage space.

Are you feeding flabby-assed lazy sims, or do you have aura-emitters that raise hungers (snapdragons, career rewards) in the eating area? Lazy sims eat too much and aura-emitters can disrupt the calculation results if they go off when a sim has already decided it is safe to eat another bite, making it unsafe.

This is why I only serve gelatin at parties. It's such a low-value food that getting fat from it is highly unlikely. FYI: Squinge has a mod that makes visitors' motives higher when they arrive on a lot, so they're not as likely to immediately run for the food. If it's not in Squinge's section at sims2graveyard, I can post it here, or in the 'Where Can I Find This CC?' thread.

Because they start getting hungry 3-4 hours after arriving at the party. I use Inge's permafridge, so it costs nothing to feed the guests.

Title: Re: No Eat Crap II: Electric Boogaloo *UPDATED 12/21/05*
Post by: J. M. Pescado on 2007 November 08, 07:44:56
What does that matter? The party will end, ideally before they hit the ordinary hunger bailout line anyway, since I haven't seen any major problems with it even with nothing special altering it, so it is pointless to feed them, as they will automatically leave anyway.

Well, I'm very hospitable when I invite people over, and therefore so are my sims. Let's just chalk it up to different playing styles, mkay?

ETA: When guests leave due to low motives, it drags down the party score. By providing for their guests' needs, my sims ensure that their parties frequently reach Roof Raiser status, or at the very least Good Time.

Yes, but the point is that parties don't last long enough for them to do that. Besides, have you SEEN my parties? My guests spend the entire time BEATING EACH OTHER SENSELESS and I still get Roof Raisers. :P My point, however, is that food is made from 100% pure evil and will harm your sims if you needlessly pass it out for anything other than a dire emergency.

Well, I've found that, if you have the stereo on, the guests all flock to it, and dance themselves silly. With Ste's dancefitnessandbody (I think that's what it's called), they actually gain fitness while dancing, so the food I serve does little to affect them.

Food may be irritating at times when all the guests are doing something interesting, they drop it and start eating. Oh, notveryawesome, can you post that mod's link?

I haven't had problems with sims dropping everything to grab a plate, but then I usually have my sim set the food out immediately before or after making the 'Throw Party' phonecall.

The 'dance fitness and body skilling' hack is in SyberSpunk's area here on this site. Just go to the homepage, and click on his hacks forum. From there, you'll find it easily.

I still hate sim-food. It looks disgusting, like nothing someone would actually want to eat.

Well, the sims don't seem to mind it. It does look rather nasty, though.

could you possibly make a opposite version?  It entertains me when I leave my computer on while playing my household, and when I come back, horrible fates have befallen them.  I could add whole family completely fat to the list.

You could just not install it. That's already the default behavior.
