Title: More FUBAR Than You January: Gameplay Glitches
Post by: starlady on 2009 January 09, 19:55:15
Thank you, Tsarina, for making me the next FUBAR thread starter.  :P

Let's say you are enjoying your game. More particularly, you are enjoying the company of your favorite sim. They have just come home from work, and you are expecting them to bring home a promotion. All their skills have been earned, they went to work in a good mood, and you had no chance cards to answer. They have gone to work religiously and they are always on time. However, when they get home, they get a demotion! You take a snapshot...

And you post it here. Where else would you post it?

This month's MFTY revolves around finding the worst gameplay glitches evar! Like last month, the photos that you post can be yours from your own game, or something that you find on the internet. However, they may not be official bloopers, or they will be disqualified.

So, here's my picture, found on some random site. I had tons of pictures from my game, but I'm beginning to suspect that my game is ashamed of itself, as all of the glitch pictures I take keep disappearing...

This is disqualified since it is an official blooper, but I thought it was hilarious anyway.

What happened to the other baby? Shouldn't there be two of them?

Fire that wouldn't go out.  I deleted the stove but the flames kept showing.  The fire did something to the game, because I invited the headmaster over later that day and I wouldn't get any points for food, so I failed the visit.  Since I saved, I had to evict the household and use the familyfunds cheat to restore all the money I lost reubying the objects over again.

If videos count, I uploaded a video to YouTube titled The Sims 2 Fire Glitch (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o1LAajkHqIw) where the fireman wouldn't come out of the truck, my Sims couldn't do anything.  This time I didn't save and reload the lot from when I last played.

I never figured out what exactly caused the glitch in either case.

Exiled, I think I had that exact same set of glitches some time back. I want to say it was something non-awesome conflicting with firemod, but I don't really remember.

Here's one that rather amused me when it happened

"Nikki" happens to be one of my sim's employees.  She quit a little while later, I guess she expected the raise I wasn't going to give her...she was at 0% quit chance before the pop up

I had some interesting building glitches last night - I only got a picture of this:

Somehow not the look I was going for!

@Pescado - I think we have a case of "Babby adopted by wolves" or at the very least, early genetic werewolf-ism.  :D

@Exiled - Yes, videos count. What's more fun looking at a picture of the Sims 2 and its FUBARedness? Watching the Sims 2 and its FUBARedness.

@ElenaRoan - ROFFLE. That is all.

@Crunk -  Wow. Invisible hill, maybe?

I think, though I am not sure, that he was remarking on the vaguely Romulus-and-Remus appearance of it. In which case the answer to his question would be "His brother killed him.". Of course, I may be grossly misinterpreting.

Yeah, they seriously screwed up the family trees in AL. I took me awhile to fix it in my game, although it's not terribly hard. It's something to do with them being set as both a parent and a sibling at the same time if I remember correctly. Still, that doesn't excuse them for being totally brainless cuntwaffles (oh how I love this word).

Curry and really, really, really spicy chili. And apparently, great woohoo.

Sims: jolrei and jfade. I keep getting the same glitch with this CC shower, possibly it doesn't take up as much floorspace as it should.

Here are a few well-known bugs, starting with the 45° rotation trick, or how - after a handful of EP's - it still can't handle object footprints:

Fresh out of the fubar oven, we have AL's invisible furniture:

Finally, all sorts of sticky objects, including headphones, and babies:

The stuck babby glitches are also either really creepy, or really, really cute. Some of them kinda makes you wish you could manually make them stick like that. Especially the ones where the sims are one-arming something because they're still holding a baby...

Don't know whether this one actually counts, but it's pretty good proof that EA doesn't know how to write code:

Note that a very negative class value is being interpreted as a very high class value.  Looks like EA doesn't know the difference between signed and unsigned integers.

Not sure it can be counted as a real glitch, but it made me go WTF.

Oh, where to start? I've been collecting them over the years...
First, in the "I wish I could unsee it", the trampoline. A cc object meant for children to jump on. Cloned from a bed. Add ACR and here's what you get:
(http://images1.hiboox.com/images/0409/1666856d6b6559a59ab5e654fcf69512.jpg) (http://www.hiboox.fr/go/images/jeu-video/snapshot-b527d1f7-559a736c,1666856d6b6559a59ab5e654fcf69512.jpg.html)
---

In the sticky stuff category: sticky flower bunch. This girl came back from school with flower in her hands in lieu of report. The family did not have a flower crafting machine, nor did she AFAIK frequent the florist.
(http://images1.hiboox.com/images/0409/f643280328233782dc211c5b4d73c75c.jpg) (http://www.hiboox.fr/go/images/jeu-video/snapshot-32c00ea9-b58d55f7,f643280328233782dc211c5b4d73c75c.jpg.html)
---

Last and least, but funny nonetheless: Miranda Capulet feels much better all of a sudden.

Elevation cheat + pool created funkiness. Reenabling the cheat and leveling should fix it.
That's what I get for following building tutorials! It was fixed right after taking the picture. I was tempted to leave it in and move_objects some floaty curtains on it, for that special cabana look.

pb - If your Victorian buildings start growing things, consider steampunk/sci-fi hood instead!
Heodez - I wish there was a flower replacement for sim homework. Also, I may need that trampoline for my next neighborhood trashy Romance sim.

That's caused by a continual error on your pets- do you have Atavera's Window opening hack? If so, get the updated version- M&G changed the bay windows somehow.

I think the nanny thing is because it takes into account that the child won't be home until 3 pm, so there's no point in sending a nanny when no kid's there.

Cognitive Dissonance is why I no longer use secondary aspirations.

Heh. I remember, before OFB (so well before dual aspirations) a family sim who both wanted and feared having a baby.

I only mentioned 'before OFB' as that was my last attempt at clowncarism (before I knew it was clowncarism, it was just my horrible experiments on Don Lothario, and Cassandra popped out a few too...) before dual aspiration. Lately I've been having sims want and fear having a child, while only having had one pregnancy before, one set of twins. These are family/knowledge or family/wealth sims.

As an F, I can see wanting something, but fearing things related to that something. (Sim wants baby, but fears vomiting, changing nappies, etc. Wants to get married, but fears getting engaged to a specific sim, that sort of thing.) But I don't get simultaneously wanting and fearing the exact same thing.

Most things, I could agree with that. But after dealing with three mood swinging people through Wife's pregnancy (and me one of the three) I can totally understand. We were going from "We're gonna have a babby!" to "Oh dear gawd what were we thinking?!" and back in record time, nearly hourly.

This is the weirdest one I've had in a while.  This lady here was married to a guy named Stacey, who died of old age.  The following evening his ghost appeared and was haunting around.  Meanwhile, she was just hopping into bed with one of her other lovers (I just noticed the backwards arm).  Then the "boi-oing!" cheating sound played and:
... they both leapt out of bed as though about to confront an angry spouse... but then nothing happened.  So they jumped back in bed again, and I get this message:
The dead sim in question always was a posessive hypocritical bastard (he was deeply offended when any of his several lovers "cheated" on him), but come on! :P

The answer to your question seems obvious, but I don't think they can DO that in the sims.  Either that, or Pescado is making more than a babbyroaster, and all our sims should RUN.

I've had switched outfits two times in the last few days.   Married adults transitioning to Elder at the exact same time, the Clothing Tool pops up to give them new options on clothes. The other was twins transitioning to teen and i have them both get new outfits from the Clothing Tool at the same time.

No pics, unfortunately, because I didn't think to take any. The AL reputation bonuses can be borktastic. I never seem to get a usable blind date. In Darlington Shores, a sort of social experiment 'hood, Angelica Goldhammer offered the (married)mayor a blind date during their new resident interview session. The date? None other than Pollination Tech #88. The date was declined. Angelica ended up winning the right to move to the 'hood and upon moving her in I got the message that she and #88 were no longer friends. Thankfully #88 didn't show in her relationship panel.

This just happened to me around ten minutes ago, so I took some pictures and thought I'd share. For some unknown (to me) reason, the textures of everything in the house swapped around. Fun stuff like my sim's pajamas now as the kitchen floor, etc. It looked pretty ridiculous. I took lots of pictures.

So, first, here is how everything is SUPPOSED to look:

Then I switched floors, and when I came back, it had ALL gotten effed up:

It looks like he's covered in wires.

And when you zoom in, it looks totally different, and you can see that his pajamas and TORSO are on the floor.

And there are strange shadows on the wall... and what really bothers me is that they don't tile properly.

The entryway now appears to be carpeted in the front porch, complete with newspaper.

Meanwhile, the living room now is covered in his head. It's kind of creepy.

The education bookshelf of glory is now covered in the kitchen wallpaper + some stripes.

While the book textures have migrated themselves to the nursery floor.

And perhaps the back porch, though I can't really tell because of the snow.

Windows are totally fucked up too, look:

All in all, an utter disaster.

Fortunately the batbox fixed it. (You can see it there in that last picture, covered in snow and just waiting to be used.)

I also don't have pics, but I recently had a business owner give a raise to her townie cashier, who then offers my Sim, her boss, a job with the company she works for, in the oceanography career.

Just imagine if the floor started convulsing from ticklishness while you walked across it!

I would have freaked if that happened to my game.

Well, it wasn't bad compared to the NPC slowdown bug... at least I could still PLAY while this was happening.

What did your sim do while you were gone!

Skin themselves to make horrifying floor coverings and then cover their pancakes in snow? Perhaps he wants to be sent to the asylum challenge lot. He would deserve the miserable death he would get there, too.

Hahaha, yes, parts of mine are covered in books too. I acquire them much faster than I can reasonably expand shelf space.

Sims 3 is likely to be so borked we will need to come up with a stronger word to describe the borkitude.

Does anyone have suggestions for February? I suggest Wrong place at the Wrong time. As in not exactly glitches, but Sim's odd reactions to things. For Example, I once had a sim owned a business, and someone decided to browse in front of the cash register. Then someone else tried to get to the cash register, and when he couldn't he looked like he was on the verge of tears. It was almost as funny as the time Goopy trapped my sim in the toilet stall by standing in front of it, and refusing to budge. I ended up having to command his husband to beat Goopy up. It was lucky he was a gay sim, or I would have never saved him.

If not we could do AI glitches, like stalkers, and the whole standing in front of toilet stalls thing.

What about glitches caused by bad hack conflicts/tight pants/etc.?  Although, I guess there'd be no way to prove that they weren't intentional.

Late to the party, and these aren't really *gameplay* so much as anatomy glitches, but I wasn't sure where else to post them.

You'd think the book would fade out with the body. Instead, this camera angle made it look like Sim State Dorm has a poltergeist.

I have no idea why this happened. He just stood there staring with his abs eating his wrist for a few Sim minutes before finally snapping out of it and putting the plate in the dishwasher.

I thought I zoomed in closer on both of those, but it's enough to get the gist, right?
