More Awesome Than You!

Taking some initiative here since it has been January for well over a day now...

This month's challenge is to find accessories, really bad ones. Fugly recolors, WTF inducing useless things that you wouldn't think anyone would want, the just plain bad, etc.

I'm thinking they're supposed to be wings. Or feathers. Or demented snowflakes of some sort. Whatever they are, they are huge and weird. I can understand having wings for whatever reason, but these are HUGE. Yikes.  I guess the white wings might be good for a photo or something, but why the eye-burning fuschia??

To be fair, that probably IS a realistic size for wings if you expect them to be flight-capable.

What happens to the wings when the sim enters a house?  I can just see the wings sticking out of the roof.  Can these sims even fit through a door?

The hat is badly done too. You can see the wall through the bottom of it and it looks a little off center. There's no way that hat would stay on anyones head.

My thoughts, too. The worst to me, though, is the eyepatch texture: I can easily understand a woman who prefers a white eyepatch instead of a piratey one, but the red cross? WTF??

I know! The red cross is so the nurses can be identified after their hats fall off. Nope, that can't be it either. You can see the end of the band on the side, under the hair. There's no way that eye patch would stay on either.

I think that is supposed to be Darryl Hannah from the Kill Bill movie. There is a part where she poses as a nurse to kill Uma and she wears that outfit with that eyepatch. Of course that looks nothing like Darryl Hannah.

At a guess,I'd say it's accessories for the alien or fairy fashions.  They do have fluffy stars on them, after all.

EAUGH. Why would you even...? That seems unsanitary, at best, not to mention the fact that the piercing is, apparently, hovering below the ear lobe of the victim Sim. Also, the model's mouth is crazy. Like, Assmitten crazy, only it doesn't actually look good.

It's poorly executed, but a safety pin as a piercing is not exactly novel.

Si, si. They're actually very handy if you don't have the proper jewelry to put in a piercing. But, yes... it's a bit unsanitary to use one unless you disinfect it first.

Not to mention most safety pins used as such aren't bright "O HAI I CAN UZE MS PAINT TOO MAEK GIFS" pink.

That sim doesn't need to worry about the safety pin, but he might want to get that nasty pinkeye infection looked at.

The "all ages" bit bothers me.  Do you really want a toddler with claws like that?

This is probably not the worst thing in the world, but... It certainly doesn't look much like what it's supposed to be. (Pom-poms are not that solid, seriously.)

I don't know, I didn't download them as I have no use for pom-poms to begin with, let alone crappy ones. It's probably just the way they have the sim positioned in the preview shot, though.

Well, the thing about real wings, is they can be folded up against the body when not in use. No winged creature would walk around all day with their wings extended like that, unless it's a butterfly or some insect.

@Kazzandra - I thought of that story too when I saw the "neckerchief" ribbon. I read it in a "scary ghost" story book. Gave me nightmares for weeks on end after reading that one.

@Crunk - Those nails scare me. Especially the beads. They scream, "Piss me off and I will stab you with my 8 inch acrylic nails and then teabag you with the baubles that hang from them!"

I found this lady at MTS2. Granted, the skin edit and the hair recolors are well done and she looks nice from the front. But any side is a bad side for her! I know it doesn't qualify, but since we're also on the subject of crazy mouths and such, I thought I'd share. However, I did find an odd accessory. It's not so much the.. er... claws as it is the wild colors that kind of made me go, "WTF?". I found it at MTS2 as well. Most insects don't do that either. Even butterflies can fold up when not in use, although butterflies are generally not creatures that spend a lot of time walking.

No but they hang around off trees and bushes quite often.

Not claws, knives. They're from Kingdom Hearts, and they really are that color in game. Mock me for knowing that if you want.

That is an ugly Sim version though.

That just says it all, really.

Don't they mean the left side? Unless the image is flipped, there is no way that is the left side of the model's face.

Is that an earring or a tattoo?  It seems to follow the curve on the sim's face & neck, indicating it's a tattoo.

There's all these animal-themed skins and accessories over at Genensims. They're not completely terrible, except that, um, yes they are. Anyone know what to call something with four ears?

A mutated furry, duh.

They work better on sims with long hair so you can't see the other ears, though. If you're into that sort of thing.

@Kyna - that accessory that Insanity Prelude posted is in fact a pair of earrings. If you look closely, you can see a little black line extending onto the earlobe and then a little silver dot above it that appears to actually enter the ear canal. It (the mesh or the recolor, whichever it is) is placed a little too high to appear as if it actually hangs like the dangle-y earring it is supposed to be.

@Celinor - Creepy. Really creepy. Though, I suppose having two sets of ears would have its advantages...  :D

Yes, I noticed that.  My comment was a reference to the suck-tastic quality of the earrings.

Unless the poster can't tell its right hand from the left one. Judging on its grammar/spelling/netspeak, I wouldn't be surprised at all.

Hey now. I can't tell my right from left, and other than a predisposition towards comma love, my grammar and spelling are passable.

Starlady: I do not think Zazazu was trying to say he/she made the tattoo. If I got it right, he/she was stating that problems with distinguishing left and right do not imply spelling/grammar issues as well. Which is not what the other guy, Marhis, was trying to say, if I got him/her correctly: According to Marhis, grammar issues could also imply plobrems with reft/light; the other way round, so to speak.

@eenaleor - I suggest you spend a little more time in chat rooms and read up on what is known as "joking" on the internet. Please note that there is a "cheesy" emoticon at the end of my post to Zazazu, indicating that I knew she was not the creator of the "Rebel" earrings. This indicates that I simply wished to tease her about her comment. Please also note that I did not say, "O, wows, u mad tat. Sucktastic," but rather asked if she were admitting to making it. Again, intended as a joke. I hope this was sufficiently simple enough for you to understand.

If you overlay enough of the beauty spots, would it look like chicken pox?

The mouth on that "wax facial hair" sim is scary.

Those clear-up strip things look like Biore pore cleansers. As they stay on your face for less than a minute and are usually applied and removed when alone in a bathroom, I can't see the point of taking the time, invariably longer than a minute, to scroll through other useless accessories and select them for a Sim.

The wax mustache strip looks like someone has been drinking milk and forgot to use a napkin.

While I agree with your general statement, I think that you should get some more RAM and possibly delete/compress some files if it's taking longer than a minute to get your Sim to a mirror, change accessories, click the check mark and wait for it to return to live mode. Most people I know don't have that problem even if their computer doesn't have beefy arms.
