Title: Problem fishing in one pond
Post by: xoferew on 2008 October 29, 18:20:04
I have one lot with a pond where I can't tell my sims to fish and they never autonomously fish.  However, visitors fish autonomously and then I can get my sims to fish with the "join" interaction.  All my fishponds on other lots don't have this issue.   ???

Make the pond bigger.

This isn't big enough?  I know I have many functioning ponds that are smaller.

It's probably too deep.  Can you put waterlilies in it without going into overhead mode?  If not, you need to make it shallow enough to give yourself something to successfully click on when you order them to fish.  As for the autonomy, perhaps you have too many other fun things for them to do.  Take away everything fun and make all of your sims study except for the one who is the most bored; that should work.   :P

I've been tweaking my failpond.  Now it's plainly shallow enough to place the waterlilies (as you said, without the overhead view), and there are plenty of places to stand and fish, since the visitors did autonomously and I was able to tell my sims to join them.  Yet I can't click on any spot in the pond.  Are there any other suggestions I can try?

I have this problem from time to time, but if I leave it alone for a bit, it
seems to correct itself. At first, I was clicking in the wrong place. Logicallly,
I thought, one would click on the bank, or on the sim. No! One must click on
the water, but not just anywhere in the water. One must find some "magic"
spot in the water that will allow one to fish.

This is stupid. You should be able to click on the sim to have them fish.
Oh Great One, is there no way to include fishing in the skillinator?

If you have OFB, get Business Runs You. Then you get the option to force fishing under a menu called Business --> Be Fisherman.

The option already exists, under "Business".

I just updated my awesomeware and Be Fisherman disappeared from the sargeant box. I played the same lot minutes before and after updating.
Did it move?

Checking. There were some tweaks to that piece of code to fix another bug, so lemme see if it disappeared.
