Title: window fix
Post by: Fat D on 2008 August 30, 20:49:23
A similar fix is now included in the CEP v9.0 (http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=92541), so this item is no longer required except for no-CEP environments or users unwilling to update their CEP yet. The CEP installer should automatically remove existing installations.
EAxis decided to re-introduce the shop window from OfB to AL, however, not the door.
(http://img254.imageshack.us/img254/6968/funnypicturescatrecyclenh2.th.jpg) (http://img254.imageshack.us/my.php?image=funnypicturescatrecyclenh2.jpg)
This caused the window file to be internally restructured in a way that results in the following three problems:
1) All shop windows placed before AL revert to basic red
2) old recolors disappear
3) usage with the CEP causes design mode to be disabled (thanks to Simsbaby for pointing out this relation)
All of these can be fixed by overriding the AL scenegraph with the OfB one, at the cost of all windows placed in an AL environment (including EAxis lots) reverting. I have compiled the OfB scenegraphs into 5 handy package files and RARred them together into an easily downloadable file.

Installation notes: If you have the CEP, delete the nocep file, if you have OfB, delete the noofb files. Currently, the fix has only tested in an environment including both OfB and the CEP, so the no*** files are entirely untested. But most people here should not need them, anyway.

-Users without OfB redownload, I forgot the TXMT file.-

Where do we install these files? Our Downloads folder?

just dump them into your downloads folder like every other object mod.

Thank you - very timely as I have a huge lot with hundreds of these windows in and I really did not want to have to replace every single one!

I'll test this in a CEP-free environment since I don't have and have never had the CEP.  I'll post back one way or the other and let you know it's ok (or not).

Thank you a million times!  My favorite beach house uses these windows and the red ones look horrible.

I keep coming back here and forgetting to post.  Just to let you know, this works fine with a no-CEP game.  Fixes the problem and I could find my green recolour of those windows again.  So thanks for the fix.

So the only test that remains is with OfB/Without CEP.

deleting the CEP only brings back EA recolors, any custom recolors will disappear. Also, a lot built before AL will have its colors reverted if you do not use this hack (a lot built after AL and before installation of this hack will if you do)

with the CEP updated, this fix is no longer necessary for CEP users.
