Title: Clothing equality mod - adult clothes for elders, buyable maternity and work
Post by: Motoki on 2005 November 01, 14:29:48
The file that makes Maxis Maternity Clothes show up as Everyday is the 4th and last file attachment at the bottom of this post

*EDIT* Sims Baby now has made the Glamour Life Stuff clothing available for elders. Get the male ones  here (http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php/topic,5420.0.html) and the female ones here (http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=190068)

Getting Adult Maxis clothes to show up for Elders:

- If you have the base game only or don't care about getting NL or OFB outfits for elders get Maxis adult clothes for A YA & E

- If you have NL but not OFB get Maxis adult clothes for A YA & E (NL)

- If you have NL and OFB get Maxis adult clothes for A YA & E (NL-OFB)

This is what these files do:

- All adult clothing that came with the original TS2 game buyable and wearable for adults, young adults and elders.
- All of the above will also show up in the bodyshop and new outfits can be made from them. The new outfit will retain its ability to be bought and worn by adults, young adults and elders.
- Sweatsuits, coach outfits, Hiphop sweats (male), drawstring pajama pants (male), tanktop with suspenders (female), and 'diving' bathing suit (female) have been made to be also available as workout clothes.
- Korean clothing from formal is now also buyable as everyday.
- Maxis wedding outfits are now buyable.

Some notes and things to be aware of:

Don't mix and match an elder bottom with and adult top or vice versa, it will leave a gap. If you use one of the recategorized adult tops for an elder you need to also find a recategorized adult bottom to go with it.

This file doesn't contain any meshes or textures at all. It's just property set values changed to make the original Maxis clothes show up under different age groups or categories

Custom clothing is not effected by this at all. If you want custom adult clothes for elders, you'll have to manually change it.

I have posted a tutorial here: http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php?topic=1281.0

Fairiegurl has a tutorial here: http://www5.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=52437

If you recolor a Maxis outfit with one of these files in your downloads directory, your new recolored outfit will also be available for Elders. The user who downloads your outfit will not need any of these files to make your new outfit show up for elders, it will be automatically built into your clothing recolor package file to be Elder enabled.

**Other Files**

Elder Clothing Hide

This second file hides all of the original Maxis hunched over and saggy mesh elder clothing. This file is completely optional and not needed to run the first file. If you want to be able to buy adult clothes for your elders but still want some elders to use the original saggy clothing then don't get this file.

It does not remove or delete anything from the game, it merely hides the original Maxis elder clothes from showing up in the clothing buying tool, the CAS and the bodyshop. Service npcs and townies will not be effected and will still wear their original hunched elder clothing. Any sim who is currently wearing elder clothing will continue to do so until and unless you plan their outfit to something else and any sim who has original Maxis elder clothing in their closet will continue to keep those items in their closet. This won't remove them.

Basically, only get this if you never plan to use the original Maxis elder clothes again on your playable sims and are sick of looking at saggy tits when you go shopping. ;)

Buyable Work and NPC Clothes
*Edit* Military uniforms now show up as formal as well
- All NPC and career outfits are unlocked and buyable for adults, young adults and elders.
- Some other hidden outfits like the Gamespot and IGN promo ones are now unlocked and buyable.

Buyable Maxis Maternity Clothes
- Pregnancy clothes for males and females are now buyable as everyday for adults, young adults and elders.

The pregancy clothes will not make your sim pregnant or give them a belly, it's just buyable as everyday, though they are really loose fitting, particularly the female one. It won't effect pregnant sims ability to get those outfits, they will still get them as normal and get the belly particular to their day of pregnancy.

-----

As far as credits go, do whatever you want with it, share it or upload it where ever. No need to credit me. Just make sure if you do upload it somewhere that people know what they are getting into. I don't want to see a bunch of threads from people saying 'HEEEELLLLPPPP!!!!! MY ELDER CLOTHES ARE GONE!!!!!!!!!!' etc. Oh and take these files out of your downloads temporarily please when packing up a house otherwise someone might get an unwanted surprise. :p

I've tested these in my game and everything seems to be working fine, but if you run into any problems please let me know and I'll do my best to look into them and fix it.

Thanks to Hairfish for the pictures and mirroring the files.

Thanks to Curious Spurious for getting off her butt when I didn't and updating this to NL and OFB.

The  best aspect of this is that I can use the adult clothing for my fit elders and the elder clothing for my fatties.  For the in-betweenies I have various custom meshes that improve the elder one without going as far as using adult clothes does.  I just wish I could use my custom adult clothes, because the majority of the Maxis ones are so awful they're actually worse than the elder clothes!  I don't really want my elder females going around in tarty tops and so on.  So, I await your tutorial eagerly.  Actually, I probably don't, seeing as I've done it before myself.  Silly me.

Now we just need an Elder Slouch walk fix.

Is there any way to make all the different color hair available to Elders besides the basic boring dull gray?

You're welcome. And I also wouldn't complain if someone got rid of some of the more annoying elder idle animations like back rubbing and such. *hinthint* ;)

Oh and I see I am officially a peasant now. Go me.  ;D I take it this is the place for the peasantry who are less awesome than Pescado and TwoJeffs to post their sundries?

You can do it through custom hairs you make in the bodyshop. Problem is those have all the other age groups too and are huge files. I was thinking of going in and doing that and just yanking out all the data for the other age groups but A) the files will be signifigantly larger than this one is because it will contain lots of textures and B) does anyone like the Maxis hair? ;)

I'll see if I can finagle something where it can make a new custom hair entry but will grab an existing Maxis adult hair texture file from the game files without me having to waste space and include a duplicate. I know custom gets really messy when you have a lot of custom hairs, particularly for elders when almost no one messes with them so you get all these clones of grey Maxis hair for every custom adult hair color you download, but I don't want to go so far as to mess with overriding the default Maxis elder grey completely.

Well, I like some of the Maxis hair, especially since that's all you have to choose from at first.  I have started downloading some custom hair but it does get messy trying to sort through all of them under the Custom icon.  And it annoys me that most of the people who make custom hair only let the elders have a gray version of it instead of any of the colors like adults have.  There are lots of people who dye their hair.  Why can't elder sims???  You make a good point about cloning the adult hair for elders.  I have done that and now I have all these cluttering up my custom hair section in all age groups.

LOL! Well I debated whether to put that in or not.  :-\ I finally decided to go with it figuring that maybe someone might want to make a nice less maternity-esque recolor of it.

But they never seem to grow up into anything I like anyhow. I think once or twice I had a sim that did, but otherwise they go right to Pescado's clothing tool after aging. ;)

My sims rarely keep the clothes they transition with. That is what clothing tool is for. And I greatly appreciate your inclusion of maternity clothes. Between this and the "force redress" option my sims may actually have decent maternity clothes with the proper meshes.

I downloaded both of the mod.??? ???

Post by: Motoki on 2005 November 03, 12:45:14
It shouldn't interfere with the clothing tool. I know the clothing tool lately has issues with sims who were made selectable but not living on the lot though.

I'll go in the game and check real quick with just these 2 files and the clothing tool and see how it works.

*edit: I just tried running the game with just these 2 files and the latest clothing tool and clothing tool globals for NL and it seems to work fine for all the ages.

I do know it acts a little funky with toddlers too but if you change the age or gender in the clothing buying screen and change back it should make them appear.

Hmm, I just did a test on a neighborhood I don't play with just these 2 files, the clothing tool and TwoJeffs college adjuster. I set the sim to take her exam and then she did and came back and when she grew up but before she got into the cab I used the clothing tool and it did work for me.  :-\ I really don't know what the problem could be.

So if you take these 2 files out but leave everything else in can you then plan your outfits okay?

I've been using the Clothing Tool to change all my Elders into new, better bodies, and haven't had any trouble. But then, I don't try to change YA's clothes into Adult before sending them back to the Neighborhood, so that might be why.

THANK YOU, Motoki, for being so generous with your time and talents, and making such a cool mod for us! I've added a page about it to my site, with a link back here, so HOPEFULLY people will remember their manners and thank you once they've downloaded it.

This is awesome.  I remember my very first female elder.  She was gorgeous, super fit, and proud of her body (max fitness, workout and swim wants every day).  When she turned elder ... ugh!  If she'd been a real person I think she would have cried to see what she'd turned into.  I wish I'd had this mod of yours back then.  Too late for her now, that early neighbourhood was lost in a BFBVFS, but my current and future elders thank you.

Can I put a request in here Motoki?  It's sort of related, in that it's about modifying existing Maxis clothing.

I never use the table to change my toddlers into everyday wear.  After their first sleep, they spend the rest of their toddlerhood in their sleep clothes.  It would be nice to have a bigger choice of toddler sleepwear.

Is there a chance that you could modify the toddler everyday wear so that all the regular maxis toddler everyday clothing appears in the toddler pj menu?

Title: Re: Clothing equality mod - adult clothes for elders (updated 11-1-05)
Post by: Hairfish on 2005 November 04, 09:24:51
That would be mighty confusing, since there's a clear distinction between Everydaywear and Sleepwear for Toddlers...namely shoes.

However, you could run your Toddler Everyday skins through Body Shop and recategorize them as Sleepwear. That's even OK to do with custom skins, as long as they're just for your own private use.

Sure, here you go. I've attached the file to this post. It actually recategorizes all toddler clothes to both everyday and sleep. I guess it might look a little odd to put them to bed with a dress or tux on lol but otherwise it should work okay, I did try it out. I put the NL stuff in too but if you don't have NL it shouldn't be a problem, they just won't show up.

re: recategorizing stuff via bodyshop

I've been trying not to recategorize stuff via making clones in the bodyshop because it makes a copy of the texture file that sits in your downloads folder and those are quite large files. This file I made only took me a couple of minutes and is 28kb, if you made clones of all the everyday toddler stuff via bodyshop and set it up as sleepwear I'm guessing it might be somewhere in the neighborhood of 10MB so that's quiet a difference. Seeing as my downloads folder is already bloated I try to do whatever I can to not make it any worse.  :o

I downloaded this and love it! I do have a few questions though...

If I recolor one of the adult outfits made for elders, will it be made available for all three age groups then? (adults, young adults, elders)
Second, if I upload a recolor of an adult outfit for an elder, will someone be able to download it without your mod? Or will they have to dowload your mod first, in order for the outfit to show up in game?

Finally, I have a request, if it's at all possible. lol I don't know if you have Nightlife or not, but if you could make the new toddler winter coats available for children? I don't even know if you can do this, but I would be beyond happy if you could.  :)

Yep.

Yep to this one too. They don't need the file, you only need it to be in your downloads when you make your new outfit in the bodyshop.

Now this is something I really can't do because the body size and proportions between toddlers and children are completely different. It would require a new worked mesh and like a reworked texture too and basically need to be made from scratch. :(

Thanks again Motoki  ;D

After Hairfish made her suggestion I did try fumbling with Bodyshop, but when I saw it made a duplicate item with my first attempt I thought I must have been doing it wrong somehow, as I didn't want duplicate items.  I don't want a bloated download directory so I gave up at that point.

I have a fresh almost empty d/l folder following a bad install of NL.  When I uninstalled & reinstalled I backed up my neighbourhoods, but I forgot to back up my download directory ... oops.  On the bright side, at least now I have the opportunity to start over and be much more choosy about what I download.

Thank you Motoki, this sounds like a brilliant idea!  As I'm heading into "elder" territory myself I find it a bit depressing looking at my poor droopy sims - don't understand why they can't at least get a decent bra!  Well, problem solved - you are great!  ;D

They are the young adults from college just turned into adults I use it to have niceer clothes to go back to the base hood

I just found out that your mods are not the cause of my problem. I took them out and the YA changed into Adults and still not allowed to plan out fits.  I also noticed that when I loaded the game up again after I took out your mods. The YA that were at class where not and I had to send them back to class and that I had two of the same YA. This seams strange to me

Oh wow 12 new outfits, thanks for letting us know Star. :) I can never have too many clothes for my elders they've been neglected for too long. Even though I made this to enable the Maxis stuff, most their clothes are frumpy and I still prefer custom. ;)

I love the outfits, Star, but Maxis is playing silly games with me and I've become logged out and now I can't log in!  So I shall have to try later!

And Motoki - when you use Pescado's clothing tool, is it supposed to show elder clothers for YAs?  And loads of NPC outfits too?  Or is there a conflict between your hack and the clothing tool?

I hope so. I emailed her about it, first thing!  ;)

It shouldn't show elder clothes (if what you mean by elder clothes is the original saggy Maxis ones) for anyone but elders and if you have the elderhide file it shouldn't even show them except for the NL stuff. It will show all the NPC outfits yes. It might be kind of an annoyance to have to flip through so many, but I figured some people might want to buy them and use them for their sims and also this way it makes making recolors for them a whole lot easier because they will show up in the bodyshop now.

I've used this with Pescado's clothing tool and noticed no conflicts at all when I played.

I'll double check but I'm certain I didn't mess with any files that started with ef or em (elder female or elder male). Do you maybe have the old gyspy lady outfit Morague enabled for other ages or the recolors Hairfish made?

No, there was one that looked like a regular elder style.  I closed my game down a little while ago, but I can load it up again and check and get back to you - may be something else in my game that's causing it, of course.

Well, whatever it was, it's gone now, so it must have been some kind of a glitch.  But poor Angela already has two maternity outfits flagged as available to her!  (I imagine they must have been Mary-Sue's!  Since I changed her to Family she has the 6 grandchildren want, so maybe she's trying to tell Angela to get a move on?)

Motoki, I could use the hide elder clothing thing independent of the other mod right?

I used your tutorial to enable adult/ya clothes for elders manually since I'm more concerned with custom clothes than Maxis stuff.

I'm assuming it'd be fine, right?

Yes that's fine. As long as you have custom stuff then you'll still have clothes for your elders to wear. That files doesn't mess with anything custom at all.

Motoki, if we make recolours of the 'unlocked' items, such as the maternity or the work clothes, to offer them up for download, do people need to have this mod installed, or will they show without it?

Title: Re: Clothing equality mod - adult clothes for elders (updated 11-1-05)
Post by: Motoki on 2005 November 17, 13:34:51
Nope. They'll show without it.

For the maternity stuff, there's a chance they could get the recolor when their sim gets pregnant, but which outfit they get is random unless you use some hack or cheat to get around that.

I had an adult female transition to elder the other day and she ended up getting one of the normal Maxis "pregnant" outfits as her default.  I must admit I did a double-take when I saw it.  I decided she looked too fat wearing it, and chose something else.  But it's interesting that it works...

Question:  What happens if you delete this hack after you've set one or more elders to wear clothing that is normally adult-only?  Would it cause the game to crash, or revert to normal Maxis elder-style clothing, or what?  Has anybody tried it?

Karen

As far as I know, the outfit should stay on them until you change it since the meshes and textures are all still part of the game, but I haven't tried it. I'll have to test that out. ;)

Title: Re: Clothing equality mod - adult clothes for elders (updated 11-1-05)
Post by: Emma on 2005 November 21, 15:08:22
Yes, it does Motoki-but I am pretty positive it stays in the dresser as a clothing option. I only put this in when I am playing, and remove it for my daughters to play. They hate custom content (although, strictly speaking-this isn't!) I forgot to put it back in, and when I bought new clothes for my elder cos she got the blue camo strappy number, and got her changed, I am sure it still showed as an option. I am not positive it would still be there if I load my game up again without putting the hack back in though. :)

Title: Re: Clothing equality mod - adult clothes for elders (updated 11-1-05)
Post by: Motoki on 2005 November 21, 15:11:26
I'm pretty sure once something is in the dresser it stays there. I think the limitations come from Maxis hiding certain outfits from showing up in the bodyshop, CAS and clothing rack for certain age groups but once you buy it, you've got it. The meshes and textures can't be deleted because they come with the game.

Is there any way to clear out a dresser?

I have a couple of houses that have had 5 generations through them now.  That's 5 generations of sims who have done a bit of career hopping ... and there's a LOT of work outfits and other clothing I have to look through if I want to change clothes (even with NL's new system of choosing clothes from the dresser).  I'd really like to be able to spring clean those dressers.

I wonder if it's something that could be hacked. Like a hacked dresser or phone or even letter with a 'Donate to Salvation Army' option ;) that would wipe clean all your stored bought outfits.

I mean, the clothing too can swipe an outfit from a sim and stick it in the closet, so in theory it should be possible to take them out.

I'm not really sure where they're stored, in the lot or the family, but there's probably a way to manually delete them in SimPE I would imagine if you know where to look.

I actually got the name Motoki from a Sailor Moon character, heh. I was on a MUCK (a text based chat/roleplaying progam) about 10 years ago and Tuxedo Mask was taken so I chose Motoki the arcade guy. I've been playing with a new neighbourhood and AllenABQ's new face templates.  I deleted all chars to get rid of the maxis standard dormies and townies, and now have a whole new set of them.  Since I have Motoki's clothing mod also installed I have a number of dormies and townies walking around in work clothes from careers that don't belong to them.  It's funny :D

I think the best one I've seen so far in this neighbourhood was the townie who came home from work with a sim in the slacker career - she was wearing the general's uniform.  I like to think that on her way to becoming a 'professional party guest' (do they mean escort perhaps?) this townie put in some extra hours with a military man, and afterwards she put on his clothes by mistake ...

EDIT: OOH!  Changing the subject completely, this is my 50th post and my lips have now been officially ripped.

Sorry, I was feeling rather moody yesterday. :P

Anyway, it's posted. NPC and work clothes are yanked out and put into a separate file. Male and female Maternity clothes are also yanked out and put into another separate file. In both cases they will still show up for elders with the adult body meshes.

If you just want to recolor a work, NPC or maternity outfit, you can drop the applicable file in your downloads, access the oufit in the bodyshop, make your recolor, then delete my file. If you distribute your recolor of a work, NPC or maternity outfit made this way the users who download it will not need to have my file installed and your recolor should still show up for them.

Motoki, I LOVE YOU!!!

Here is my question. I was wondering on something. Uhm, do you know how to make the townies or NPCs to use the clothings list (how I am supposed to express it? a clothing catalogue? I mean the thing which pops up when I click 'change into') ?

I was just trying to make an item to give clothes to some NPCs but actually I can't find a sutaible way. The only way I found working is making them a family member temporarily. You would be truly truly appreciated if you give me some informations on it. And see ya!!! ^^

Title: Re: Clothing equality mod - adult clothes for elders (updated 11-28-05)
Post by: Motoki on 2005 December 03, 02:01:28
The townie household seems to have it's own 'closet' so to speak, but you still can't get them to wear something in it unless you plan their outfit. I know Inge has her clothing change doors, but they only change the type of outfit, you still need to plan the outfit. As you said, you can make them a member of the family, or selectable (though that seems to be broken now in NL) and plan their outfit. Danny (of valdea.com) has a red burglar alarm hack that lets you plan any sims outfit and I believe Monique's computer will do it too, but still it requires the user to use those hacks to do it.

I know you can change a sim's outfit via the 3D ID reference data in SimPE. I guess if you know a specific outfits internal name you might be able to find a way to assign it to a sim in the game. Pescado's clothing tool does have that snarf outfit feature that steals clothes from another sim, but it just puts them in the family closet, again you still have to plan the outfit.

Anyway, I'm sorry but I don't think I am much help in this area. :( I'm not really a coder, you know far more than I do. All I did was change the age data from 8 to 58 and the flags on the 'hidden' outfits from 9 to 0.  :-\

Doesn't the mind control mirror let you do it?  I used it with downtownies with only one problem, that if i teleported one to a house I couldn't get them to move out at all, or else they would take the incumbent family with them, unless I moved in a second one - which meant I still had one left over to be moved out in the normal way.  But I could get them to cook, learn stuff, paint etc., and one or two teens managed to get abducted and get the scholarship.  I also used the plastic surgery thingy on them, and changed their appearance etc., so it seems odd if it doesn't let them buy new clothes with the clothing tool and then select that outfit.  (In fact, I'm pretty sure I did that with some of the downtownies.)

Doesn't the mind control mirror let you do it?

Well NL makes the mind control mirror rather obsolete since you can now successfully make sims selectable via testingcheats, but also since NL if a sim is not a full resident (making them selectable via testingcheats or the mirror only partially flags them as a resident temporarily) then you can't seem to plan their outfit. I'm not sure if it's something to do with the new outfit planner interface or NL or what, but they outfits you bought don't seem to show up. If you make them a full resident by moving them in, you can successfully plan their outfits. For this Inge's teleporter bush probably works best as you can quickly teleport a townie, move them in and then move them back out via the bush into the townie household.

Title: Re: Clothing equality mod - adult clothes for elders (updated 11-28-05)

I see, you would actually need the other teleporter shrub (I just have the basic one).  And as I said, I can't remember now if I changed the clothes of the downtownies I moved into the game this way at that point, or whether I did it after I moved them into their own house.  It may be that I did it then.

I think they (Maxis) have something in their primitive in that clothing catalogue dialog, and they changed it in NL.

This doesn't seem to be working with OFB, or it's conflicting with Pescado's clothing mod.  Although I can purchase the clothes (using the clothing mod) and can see them with the little wardrobe icon on them when they've already been bought, they don't appear in the choice available with the tool, nor do they appear in the wardrobe.  This applies to Maxis clothing, which seems to be behaving like custom clothing did before.

I know the clothing tool since NL has had that problem when you are trying to make sims (who aren't residents) selectable via the mind control mirror, testingcheats, insimenator etc use the clothing tool. It's nothing to do with this mod. It just changes one small flag value unhides clothes and that's it. I don't even really consider it a hack because it contains no code. If the clothing tool is having issues, it would have them with or without this mod. It's working fine for me for sims who are the actual residents on their lot. I haven't tried using the clothing tool on a community lot so I have no idea about that. I do know the clothing tool no longer works on making townies or other non-resident sims selectable, that's been a known issue since NL. The work around I use for that is to move them in as a full resident (as opposed to just being selectable) via Inge's bush, use the clothing tool, then use the bush again to move them back out to the townie household.

Uh, guys, the package I worked on was Motoki's original that had everything, as that's what I had :P. I removed most of the NPC outfits and workclothes (what looked really blah to me :P), but left the maternity clothes and a few pieces of NPC outfits (that I'll want to use when setting uniforms for a business) in the package. It doesn't create duplicate outfits if you also have the Maternity Clothes package and Work & NPC Clothes package in Downloads, but removing them won't make all of them go away if you are using my packages. I'll remove them later and put them up here. Sorry for the inconvenience. :-[

If I may be allowed to comment on my own creation, lol, I must say I am really liking having the buyable npc and work outfits with OFB to use as uni (it's in the first zip file attachment in the first post; the clothing equality mod.zip)

I use the TGI Friday's looking outfit from the culinary career as a uniform in my restaurant and the npc gardener outfit as a uniform in my plant shop. :)

Title: Re: Clothing equality mod - adult clothes for elders (updated 11-28-05)
Post by: JenW on 2006 March 24, 18:00:05
Hmmm. I've been using the version without the work & NPC because I'm not a fan of seeing townies in space suits  and if my Sim meets someone who's randomly gotten a delivery person outfit, I can't always keep track of if they're really an NPC or a townie (really only important for challenges). But you've got a good point there...it would be nice to be able to use some of those outfits as uniforms for owned businesses. The uniforms that come with the game, like the gorilla suit and apron outfits, do they get put into the "pool" of outfits townies randomly get? I haven't had any townies generated since installing OFB so I don't know.

I'm thinking if there's something attached to those outfits that keeps them from being randomly assigned, could that attribute be applied to pre-OFB work/NPC outfits and included in this mod?

By the way, huge thanks to CuriousSpurious for the hard work updating this for OFB :) This is one of my favorite mods.

Ooh, is it updated? I'm liking it too. I'm actually trying to update the npc and work clothes package for my own use ;D, but some clothes just won't show up in Bodyshop :-\. Well, specifically the Natural Scientist fig leaf outfit. I've made sure to change the flags to 0 too, but nada. Not sure if it shows up in the game anyway as long as the property set is there, I haven't tried :P.

Edit: Oh, nevermind. In my excitement, I thought you were referring to the work and npc clothes mod. :P :-[

...for the hard work updating this for OFB :)

It's not that hard, and you are welcome :). Motoki is really the one you should be thanking, he's the one who told me how ;). That's all I know though, enabling and disabling outfits, the rest I have no clues about.

re: Gorilla suits

Oh god I hope not. Those townies are ugly enough as it is, they don't need that on top of it.

Are those suits buyable and selectable in the CAS or do they just show up as uniforms? One of these days I need to make a gorilla hide. And a deep sea diver hide too. I am sick of looking at them. :P

I honestly didn't think about townies generating with space suits and such lol. When I made the file I had already created the townies in my custom neighborhood and really haven't gotten any new ones except the pre-made ones NL and OFB added. I'll have to look into it though. I agree, I like being able to buy them or set them but I don't know if I want to see townies with them. You'd think Maxis would have put a flag in place for townies not to generate with certain outfits like pink gorillas and such but then again with the fugly townies they gave us I wouldn't put it past them either. :p

I'll have to dig through the files and look.

I'm having a serious Swedish, blond moment here, so please bare with me.
Since I'm Swedish, I sometimes have a hard time to understand directions like these in English.

I have downloaded the Clothing Equality Mod and delted the elder clothing hide.package since I don't want that function... so far so good. :) But then I get confused, the Clothing Equality Mod contains a file called Maxis adult clothes for A YA & E.package. But since I also own both NL and OFB, I've also downloaded Curious Spurious addition Maxis adult clothes for A YA & E (NL-OFB).package.

Now to that part were I get confused... should I have both Maxis adult clothes for A YA & E.package and Maxis adult clothes for A YA & E (NL-OFB).package in my game, or should I only use the latter one that Curious Spurious made?

Edited to add... I forgot to say thank you for this game modification... How rude of me. :)

Okay, well here's where I get to have a blonde moment too and admit that I don't know how to use my own file. lol

I think Curious' just adds the additional OFB and NL outfits but not those from the base game. To be honest, I'm ashamed to admit I didn't look and I'm at work and don't have SimPE so I can't check right now.

I can say that I have been using both and that even if she did include the base TS2 stuff it won't hurt anything to have both files it other than to waste a small amount of hd space.

Ha ha ha... Yeah, we all have those blond moments. Now, at least, I feel less dumb.  :D

I guess I for now, leave both files in and keep on watching this thread to see if you or Curious Spurious or someone else have figured this out.

Your file is on 397 kB and Curious Spurious file is on 548 kB, and that makes me suspect that she might have included the things from your file as well. But that's just an assumtion made by the size of the files. :)

Now to that part were I get confused... should I have both Maxis adult clothes for A YA & E.package and Maxis adult clothes for A YA & E (NL-OFB).package in my game...

Get the latter, the Maxis adult clothes for A YA & E (NL-OFB).package. I added to Motoki's original file, first the NL stuffs (hence the existence of the Maxis adult clothes for A YA & E (NL).package), it worked, then I added the OFB stuffs. See, I wasn't clear on whether one would need the corresponding EPs for the mod to work correctly, that's why I did 2 packages and named it as such - (NL) for those with NL only and (NL-OFB) for those without OFB yet :P.

One thing I noticed though was in the NL only one that the coach stuff is included for male and female adults but its not included in the OFB version. Is it meant to be included in the OFB one as well?

Are you using the one zipped as .rar? Get the .zip ones, as the former was made with Motoki's original that had everything - see post #137 above. The coach stuff was categorised as NPC outfits, which you would find in Motoki's Buyable Work and NPC Clothes mod.  It's easier to add than remove, the outfit names start to blend into each other after a while. I looked and while the coach stuffs aren't in my packages anymore, there was an adult male bartender outfit that I missed. Well, that, and a handful of fancy sounding "contest" outfits that I swear (I thought) I had deleted and saved the changes but apparently not :P.

I will not confirm nor deny if I'm male, female or hermaphrodite.:P ;D

It's my first time modding something, sorry for the confusion. :-[

I'm sorry, but I'm confused by this statement.  I thought the label "NL-OFB" would mean that it was to be used for people with both NL and OFB, but your statement sounds as if the "NL-OFB" package is for those that do not have OFB.  If that is the case, where is the package for OFB?  And why would there be two packages for NL?  You state above that the first package is for those with NL only and the second is for those without OFB.  That does not make sense.  Is there a typo in there somewhere?  Or am I just confused?  ???

Bad bad sentence structure. I meant it as "NL" for people who has NL only, "NL-OFB" for people with both NL and OFB.

For Motoki: You've probably checked yourself by now :P But the gorilla and ninja suits and all that stuff does indeed show up in CAS. I had a bunch of townies generated in a new 'hood last night and so far I haven't seen anyone dressed in any of the OFB uniforms.

Title: Re: Clothing equality mod - adult clothes for elders (updated 11-28-05)
Post by: Hairfish on 2006 March 25, 21:40:33
I've been using the original Mod ever since Motoki first made it available, and I've never seen a Townie in any of the career outfits. So there's something in their code that keeps them from being used on generated Townies. I'd expect the same to be true of those HIDEOUS OFB "uniforms." OMG, what WERE they thinking?! I'd cross the street to avoid any RL business that had employees dressed as gorillas, or deep-sea divers, or even ninjas. Unless I was in a theme park...

I have the pre-order chicken suit, which I kinda like. I'm going to have one of my Sims open a fried-chicken restaurant eventually. Maybe I'll just dress one as a giant (recolored) pink chicken and have it seduce Sim-Pescado.

http://www.hairfish.com/mermaidcove/html/2clothing_fa-fya.html (http://www.hairfish.com/mermaidcove/html/2clothing_fa-fya.html)

The pants were the most important thing, for me. I can live with Maxis' tops, which is why there are so few of those (so far) recolored for Adult-on-Elders, but their pants are dreadful.

Rainbow I didn't touch the Santa suit. The holiday pack wasn't even out when I made this so there's no reference to it in the file. You can blame Maxis for that. :P

Is there any way this mod could be expanded to include the "clothes" and "hairstyle" for Servo? I can imagine some interesting uses for being able to dress regular sims up as servo.

Also, Can you have it unlock the masks for the captain hero and criminal mastermind?

Thanks a million. I have been using this since I first found it, and those options would make it 100% perfect!

Title: Re: Clothing equality mod - adult clothes for elders, buyable maternity and work
Post by: Motoki on 2006 April 24, 03:52:43
I can unlock the servo body and head (which the game classifies as "hair") the problem with that is the sims face will still be there like a mask over top of the servo head and I don't know how to get around that. Well I know a way but it involves editing the character's file manually in SimPE and is something most people probably won't feel comfortable messing with.

And maybe I am unobservant here, but the captain heros and criminal masterminds have masks? I never noticed this on my sims before.  :o

Neither have I.  Where did you see these?  That sure would be interesting.  I've been playing over a year now, and I've never seen a mask for any of my Captain Heros or Criminal Masterminds.

I think they're under costume makeup and unlocked anyways. They're not part of the work outfit. I think Tybalt wears the "Criminal Mastermind" one, and the supposed Captain Hero one is blue.

The way around this is to use the headless (faceless) genetics that are floating around out there. I forget who it's by, but I believe it's available on ModTheSims2.com,. I'd double-check, but the site is unreachable for me at the moment.

dadditude: hmm, I guess the faceless genetics would work, but what would be the purpose you'd want it? I mean, if you want a human to be able to dress up sometimes as a robot like for a custom party or something, I'd imagine you'd want them to have a face the rest of the time. ;) And if you're using it to make servo recolors, you can't make a servo in the CAS all you can do is make a sim that looks like one but it won't function as one.

You should check out Argon's file for servo recolors as he seems to have gotten around the face thing.

I've had dormies generate in work clothes such as the Captain Hero.  What I did was add the blue mask to complete the look, but the really funny part was when TJ's evil mascot thing kicked in for the Cow, that same dormie was the one who generated the gun and sent it packing.  Just a funny moment I thought I'd share with you  :)
I did get a snapshot of the moment which happened before I bought OFB I think.

Hahaha! Too funny, love the superhero dormie. Where the heck did you get that gun? It looks like a supersoaker!  ;D

Motoki you are my new hero! I have been belting my head against a wall trying to unlock a uniform (that bit was easy) but couldn't get the ruddy thing to shop in bodyshop.  Thanks to your mod it showed up in a heartbeat.

It's actually the zapper used by the Repo man.  Haven't you seen TwoJeff's Evil Cow Mascot Trophy Head (http://www.moreawesomethanyou.net/smf/index.php?topic=1200.0)?

Yes, it's the Evil Cow Mascot Trophy Head by TJ.  No dorm should be without one on the wall  ;D

I have it, but I've never used it to be honest. Shows how much I play University. ;)

And my sims pay their bills so the repo man never visits.

Mine pay their bills too, when they can.  I got to see the Repo man more than I wanted to when I upgraded to Uni and the bills were hidden where they couldn't pay them.   Several of my lots had visits by the Repo man, until I found a hack that would nuke them.  :(

Does this also allow for adults to wear the young adult outfits? If not, is there any way something like that could be done?

Thanks!  :D

You could get the Maxis University YA clothes for adults here (http://www.moreawesomethanyou.net/smf/index.php?topic=4001.0).

This is just wonderful! It really opens up the game because it makes playing the elders so much more enjoyable. Thank you so much.

Any updates needed for Pets? (I noticed you updated the top post a few weeks ago, but can't tell what changes there were if any.)

Did they even add any new clothes in Pets? I didn't think so.

The edit a few weeks ago was because I re-classified military work clothing as both everyday and formal by request.

No new clothes in pets, but this current version doesn't touch the Family Fun Stuff clothes. (Not a big deal for me where the elder males are concerned, but the elder females I'd love to see hidden and allowing the adult female instead.)

I've been using the buyable NPC & career reward outfits for awhile now, and I just noticed that the Paranormal and Natural Science career outfits aren't showing up for me as buyable.  I have the most recent file available.

I just recently realized I could use the shaman outfit & recolor it for a hood I recently started, and when I went to buy it in the game or load it in BodyShop it wasn't there.  When I went into CAS, I had to use debug mode to make these outfits show up there.

Is there a way I can make these available using SimPe?  I tried cloning the shaman clothing file, but I don't know what I need to do to it to make it available in BS.

Thanks!  I really love being able to have access to these.

Have you tried packaging a sim with the shaman outfit on?

It's possible that the custom age flags didn't get copied over into the new outfit.

You'd need to open the file with SimPE and check the age.

Lemme find my notes...

0x01 Toddler
0x02 Child
0x04 Teen
0x40 YA
0x08 Adult
0x10 Elder

So if you want an outfit to be available for YA, Adult, and Elder, you set the age to 0x58, the sum of the three hex numbers.

Does this work ok with Seasons? I'm no where near awesome so I wasn't sure if this would conflict with the new outerwear feature or not.  :-\

I've left mine in with no problems, but it (obviously) doesn't affect the new clothes in Seasons (yet, hopefully!).

That's good to know. I think I'll go ahead and put my files back in. As long as it doesn't affect the new clothes I'm happy.

Don't know if it's just me or not (I usually have the stupid off-the-wall-noone-else-ever-experiences- problems) but with the buyable maternity in the game I lose the ability to buy outerwear.  :( The rest of it seems to be working properly  :)

How about Bon Voyage?  Will this work with BV or will my computer implode on itself?

As far as I know, Motoki is MIA. You'll have to wait until someone mod savvy rings in on this. It's kinda use at your own risk right now.

I would suggest making a back-up. Logically, if you don't have Seasons, it should be okay for BV usage. I think that Seasons may have fubar this hack with the new clothing category.

Post by: AxelValentine on 2007 December 27, 23:32:11
I do have Seasons, but I also have a back-up.  I think all a blow-up will result in is a few hours of me sulking unless it destroys me game completely.
Besides, reading the one problem post in here doesn't bother me much.  I don't care about buyable outerwear.

ETA:  And, it works!

Is there a tutorial anywhere that tells how to make a new package file where you can make Maxis Seasons clothing, Bon Voyage clothing, etc., and edit them to make them wearable for elders?  I'd love to know how to make my own.  :)

Thanks, I am so very very sick of the same male preggers outfit. That alien one always pops up and it drives me nuts!
