Title: Bodyshop Items Won't Show Up
Post by: Arcadia on 2008 June 07, 06:24:38
None of my bdyshop items will show up in game. Other custom content will, but nothing bodyshop. CAS will display default replacements though. It's not custom content, I've tried all of it. I'm so confused.  :(

What's "not custom content", the items? You mean it's not an "enabling CC" issue?
In the meantime, is your Downloads folder spelled with a capital D?

Post by: Arcadia on 2008 June 07, 06:49:48
Liz: I tried deleting custom content, but it didn't work. All my downloaded houses are working though. It's stuff like makeup, clothes, and facial features that won't work. If it helps, I've got all the expansions, and all stuff packs except for K&B and Holiday.

Wait, why are you trying to *delete* the cc to make it appear?  ???

The last question still remains: is your Downloads folder spelled with the capital D?
And far be it from me to ask a stupid question, but have you actually enabled CC in-game?

Post by: Arcadia on 2008 June 07, 07:05:55
Liz: I deleted the old stuff and put in new stuff. Yes the downloads folder has a "D", and yes I enabled custom content. I'm not sure what to do. I's like the game is refusing to display custom content.  :-\

All right, have you tried deleting cigen.package and groups.cache?

Liz: Yes.  :(

You're claiming that custom content that isn't Body Shop content is showing up, but you haven't mentioned any of it specifically. Downloaded houses ALWAYS show up -- what about downloaded furniture? Do you have any, and is it showing up?

Try creating a fresh Downloads folder, or removing the one you have and running Bodyshop to generate one for you.

Title: Re: Bodyshop Items Won't Show Up
Post by: Arcadia on 2008 June 07, 15:40:16
Akatonbo: It's just all makeup, clothes, and facial feautures. It's not a specific item. Furniture does work. Food works. Hacks work. But bodyshop items won't.

Simsample: I tried that already.  :(

Also, this problem started after I used a download organizer to start putting my custom content in folders. Although taking them out of the folders didn't help.   :-\

Are you sure that organizer you mentioned doesn't also have an option to disable custom content while still leaving it in the Downloads folder (by changing the file-type extension or something) and that you didn't do that (one way or another) to the BS content you're missing?

Cappuccino: I deleted the program a while ago. I do remember I got it in MTS2 though. I'll do a search.  :)

Edit: Nothing came up.  :(

In regards to what Cappuccino said, what do the downloaded bodyshop item filenames end in? They have to be .package for the game to read them. Even if you did accidentally change them to something else with the program (probably .bak or .disabled) you can still change them back manually.

Post by: Arcadia on 2008 June 07, 18:49:49
Menaceman: Nope, they're all package files.  :-\

I thought I'd seen this before. (http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php/topic,7829.0.html) Go download the version of CEP at ModtheSims2 for your latest EP/SP.

Simsample: I tried that already.  :(

It's worth checking your My Documents/EA Games/ The Sims 2/ Config/ userprops.xml file. The values you need to confirm are:
<AnyBoolean key="allowCustomContent" type="0xcba908e1">true</AnyBoolean>
<AnyBoolean key="disableCustomObjects" type="0xcba908e1">false</AnyBoolean>
I'd have thought that they would already be correct as you can see other CC, but it's worth trying. Also, does this occur with all bodyshop content, even freshly downloaded items? What about if you put them in the Saved Sims folder (but not in subfolders)?

Post by: Lorelei on 2008 June 08, 12:19:51
I'm tired, haven't been able to play Sims for a few months, and am dealing with computer issues ATM, so my brainstorming skillz aren't at their best right now, but I'll give it a shot.

Are you sure the CC works? It is possible you got some bad files. Try deleting and re-downloading the ones that aren't working.

Check that you don't have two items trying to use the same GUIDs.

Wild speculation time: If you have two or more BS items both set as "default replacements," only one tends to work. Does this apply to make-up things, or only to eye colour / skins / other genetics?

This doesn't generally come up anymore, but another issue people used to have (with Sims 1, actually) was downloading files made for a Mac or a Win machine when they owned the other OS.

Simsample: I checked the values and they were correct.  :-\ Also, it's all bodyshop stuff.

Lorelei: There are no specific files. None of the bodyshop items I have work. Right now I don't have any default replacements.  :(

Did you check if they worked in the Saved Sims folder?

Have you tried pasting your downloads to the desktop, loading bodyshop, closing, putting content  back in, and then loading bodyshop again? I'm not being very clear... ah! Linkage: http://www.modthesims2.com/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:GCCTSU3

No one else thought of anything? Then I suppose a back-up, uninstall, reinstall is the only remaining solution. So sorry.

Kazzandra: Darn.  :(  I lost the discs for some of the EPs. Isn't there some other way?

Clutching at straws here, but any chance your custom clothes show up while in debug mode? You know, boolprop testingcheatsenabled true and Shift+N while in bodyshop.

ETA: By the way, what was the organizer you mentioned before? From what you've said so far, it seems to be the highest suspect.

Post by: Simsample on 2008 June 13, 22:53:43
You could also try regenerating the entire Documents/ EA Games/ Sims 2 folder again. Try some freshly downloaded items and make sure you enable custom content, disable the custom content dialog and then restart.

Post by: Arcadia on 2008 June 14, 03:26:45
Cappuccino: Nope, boolprop doesn't make it work. And the program was Delphy's Download Organiser.   http://hideki.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=227925 (http://hideki.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=227925)

Simsample: I tried that already.  :-\

I've been using Download Organizer since it came out and I've never had a problem with it.
All I can suggest is that you reclaim your games and reinstall :{

Download utorrent and install.
www.piratebay.org for the expansions you need.
Let utorrent manage your torrent files.
When it begins to seed...
Download Daemon Tools Lite. Install.
Right click on icon in taskbar, virtual cdrom. Device, mount image. Point it to the torrent you just downloaded.
Now get the nocd crack for your latest expansion from www.gamecopyworld.com. Replace latest EP's .exe with the new exe. No Securom.

Kazzandra: lol, I already have a mounting program. That's how I got all my eps installed. :D

I had the same problem when I arrquired kitchen and bath. I had to go into the registry and change the settings from UK english to US english. The link with the instructions are around here somewhere. Doing that made my bs stuff show up again.  :)

Have you at least tried installing something new that you haven't used that Organizer to unpack?

All I can think at this point is to remove your Downloads folder to your Desktop, use the Bodyshop version that corresponds to your latest EP/SP to generate a new Downloads folder, and then download and install something new that you haven't used the Organiser to unpack. Don't worry about subfolders or anything yet, since it'll just be this one thing in the folder. Delete the cigen/accessories jazz before starting your game; then go into CAS and see if your new hair/lipstick/whatever appears. If it doesn't appear, I'm afraid a reinstall may be your only alternative at this point.

If it does work, though, try shutting down and adding one item from the Downloads folder on your Desktop (again a lipstick/hair/etc.), which you probably used the Organiser to unpack. Again, don't bother yet with subfolders. Boot & check out CAS. Are they both there? Than yay and try shutting down and putting those two into appropriate subfolders. Do they show up when in their subfolders? If so, start replacing more items. If, however, it's only the new and unOrganised download that's appearing, then the Organised items have been tainted in some way. Try unpacking a few and installing without using the Organiser.

And on the reverse of that, can you upload something? A lipstick, anything you can't get to work. Just upload it somewhere (it might even fit here, I don't know), and I'll see if I can get it to show up (or anyone else can, obviously) :)

Kataangrl. The signature. Cut it out. Did you not read the FAQs?

Title: Re: Bodyshop Items Won't Show Up

Actually, there isn't anything about signatures in the FAQ (http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php/topic,7437.0.html) yet.  I thought it was obvious that huge signatures were a problem.  Kataangrl, please have the courtesy to shrink your picture down to less than half its current height, or consider removing it entirely, for the sake of people on dial-up.

From your brief answers it appears you've tried everything but a reinstall. So, what's left?

Liz: I tried that already  :(
Arina: Here

Assuming this is meant to show up in one of the child clothing bins, it's broken - unless it's on a Maxis mesh from FT or an SP, none of which I have? (I know what a texture missing a custom mesh looks like, but I don't know if it would look the same for a missing game mesh - this just plain doesn't show up).

But as you've also tried content other people say is working, I'm afraid I've got no idea any more (I was hoping it would be just one or the other). I think you will have to reinstall :( I hope that fixes it!

Seriously? You didn't just use a search engine to find the definition or the general gist of the word? You decided to post it back as a question?
Well, I don't know what you did to bork your game, but if that's any indication of your ability to be self-sufficient in the world of knowledge, then I am not surprised it broke in the first place.

I'm at another computer right now. And I'm getting my arrr'd disks back (Yay Newsrover!   :P). But I'm having a problem on this computer too. The game doesn't recognize that I have Pets installed. It says, "You have uninstalled the Sims 2 Pets. If you continue, all pets will be removed from your neighborhood." But I checked the EA Games folder to look for Pets, and it was there. All I have is the CEP, and Insim.
