Title: Zombie Nanny wants to do her grown up charge
Post by: gethane on 2008 May 18, 16:05:33
Ugh!

If I use SIM PE to set the zombie nanny and her grown up charge to family, undetermined or unknown, even though they aren't family, will it screw up my game? Or is there any other way to make 2 sims absolutely off limits to each other romantically? Zombie Nanny Mattie Young just should not have the hots for adults that were previously in her care, and if she does, they should not return that interest. (tight pants, I have ACR running so spontaneous woohoo could happen at any time)

Maybe she could be flagged as a bigfoot somehow.
Bigfoots are no-touchie.

Is it possible to tweak her ACR settings?

yeah, she's a romance sim, ewwww! so I could definitely turn that down. But I don't want her unavailable for all sims, some of her older gentlemen acquaintances are fine, just not the three boys she raised (in the house where she was zombified). My husband thinks I should let nature take its course for the fun of the story, but, ewww! She's like his elderly aunt, and a stinky zombie to boot!

I backed up my neighborhood and made her and the male in question Family, unidentified. We'll see how it works.

Do you not have romancemod? Zombies shouldn't be looking too good to the living with that mod in.

Oh, I don't. I didn't realize it affected that. I only have 1 zombie and 1 vamp in my game, so I'm rather uninitiated on interspecies romance. However, see, ok, well I complicated it because before he came home from uni the family house got a visit from the gypsy who left the lamp and zombie nanny wanted a wish, well, and what would a romance zombie wish for? Beauty right? So EVERYONE finds the nanny just fascinating.

I don't think ACR pays any attention to any of that, though. ACR is the EVIL and will make your sims do everything in sight the moment you take the leash off.

I was beginning to think I was the only one here who thinks that. ACR=lechery. Pure and-- unleashed.

Perfect. Henceforth I shall refer to it as Autonomous Compulsive Lechery. I mean, why is it even necessary? Sims don't seem to have any difficulty autonomously flirting with things as it is. All they need is a preference and no preexisting romance, and they will do their thing. Why do we need compulsive lechery?

Because compulsive lechery is funny. Witness Hook.

You know, that was my opinion the last time I tried it over a year ago. But I think its toned down or something. I haven't had any affairs yet and the only relationship I disapprove of that its trying to foster is this one. I was bored with my game and hadn't really played for 2 months so I backed up the neighborhood and gave it a whirl and sometimes it just really makes me crack up. The dormies all have such interesting love triangles going on.

Though my daughter calls it my sim porn mod. The whole getting naked before getting jiggy with it creeps her out. (or so she says anyway)

eta: she's almost 16, lest anyone think I'm exposing a 10 year old to naked simmies. We all know how awful that would be. /sarcasm

an aside: my website is blocked from some work sites because of the occasional nakedish sim pics I've posted (though nothing too racy). Some filters think my website is an "adult" site. LOL

Compulsive lechery is funny when it is done as an individual schtick. When it afflicts the ENTIRE NEIGHBORHOOD, it ceases to be amusing. It'd be like if everyone behaved like Brynne. That wouldn't be funny either. Each dysfunctional sim behavior is funny when it is limited to a specific set of sims. Otherwise it becomes obnoxious. An obnoxious and/or counterproductive behavior is funny when it's the signature behavior of a specific sim. It's not so funny when it's an epidemic.

I love ACR.  And it can be a great fight instigator, if everyone has six lovers and then they go to a communal lot where I've forgotten to turn jealousy off.  Besides, it's the only way Goopy will ever get any in my game because I'm certainly not going to direct anyone to sleep with him.

I always have my sims reproduce with lots of other sims, not just to be slutty, but because a lot of the fun of the game for me is seeing how genetics combine.  So I tend to forget who is the actual parent of who until the child has just turned into a teen and the birthday cake isn't thrown in the trash before he's in bed with the guy I had assumed was his father.  I guess not everyone finds that as amusing as I do.  Anyway, I like to start a neighborhood with eight beautiful but genetically diverse sims and then have each one have at least one child with each of the remaining seven.

Yes, Autonomous Compulsive Lechery is like having EVERYONE pee themselves like Brynne. Or having multiple telescope spy pushers. Or a hood full of Gooplets.

There are quite a few other mods out there that allow only certain Sims to act like sluts and allows autonomous baby-making between committed couples. They have the added advantage of a) not borking your hood if you take them out at the wrong time b) not needing careful configuration.

You know, you can set baby-making autonomy by the household. I have some where the sims are more into having babies than having a significant other, and some where more than one or two really doesn't work so I've set the override to no trying. In Free Love Cults, it's set to alway try. Same with dress...if you don't want to see nekkidness, you can set overrides to always wearing undies. You can set sims to honor or ignore committed relationships (I believe this now includes engagements, but my sims only spend about 2 seconds engaged). That's the beauty of ACR...it can be customized.

Anyways, in my game I set sexual preferences high and everything dynamic. I have a few sims who are slutty (Tiriak Outlaw before he got married, Bonnie Bleu because she's the 'hood whore) but everyone else pretty much keeps their pants on. Dormies are an exception, but that's what college is for. I thought I was having trouble with a married-in drama professor trying to grab ass on his pregnant sister-in-law, but turns out he was only grossing her out.

I don't have lechery problems in my neighborhood, outside of University. For the most part, once my sims latch onto their One and move in together, they stop looking for hoochie anywhere else. Ultimately, I wouldn't play without ACR because it allows a degree of randomness in both who my sims eventually end up with and in how many kids they add to their family. I've gotten some wonderful surprises out of ACR and only one or two instances of bad lechery.

As far as the zombie goes, setting her as family probably should work, and I don't think it'll mess anything up too bad.

Perhaps I've done it wrong.

They haven't done anything romantic but she tells him dirty jokes all the time but they are not listed as family in the relationships panel. Well, they don't have that little family icon thingie.

you will be able to tell if they can do anything autonomously by clicking on one of them to see if "casual" appears in their pie menu. if it does, they might. if it doesn't they are considered off limits.

The "dirty joke" interaction is available regardless of familial relationship.

How do you have a zombie nanny--I thought that would dismiss them as NPC's just like becoming a vampire???

oh she is a playable now but i keep her as a nanny/housekeeper, no makeover, nanny clothes, etc.

I've tried doing that with some sims, but I always get annoyed by the arrangement because I end up having to play them normally, anyway, and having to look after their needs. Haven't tried the All-in-One NPCs since Nightlife, and I heard they hadn't been updated lately.

In my experience you have to give them an actual relationship.  It's not enough to just set the family flag.  I suggest making her an aunt.  You will need to edit her relationships, and theirs.  Sometimes it doesn't work right if you only edit one person's relationship data.

I have done this a few times and never had trouble with it.  Once you make her an aunt you will see the family symbol in the relationship panel.

thanks, I'll try that next! The romantic options are still there. It's only because he's in love with another sim who's his One and I seem to have a bugged bed, that they haven't done the deed.

It's quite out of date, but still works.  The only real problem I've run across so far is when you order room delivery on a vacation lot, the bellhop resets and you don't get the food. For me, a small price to pay.  Oh, also you can use All-in-1 to use her as a housekeeper without having to have her playable.

Make sure to have a check in the box Family that's under Known to the right.  You want a check on both of them.  And if I was you, I"d make the relationship Aunt to Nephew.  (I think someone else suggested this to you also.)  It's the check in the family box that will give you the family icon.
