Title: Object error message
Post by: deene on 2006 November 21, 00:10:16
Hello! I don't know too much about these error messages that pop up but in one house where I had placed a custom wall clock, I had an object error message pop up with the clock. I didn't have any of the bool prop cheats turned on either. Can somebody tell me or explain exactly what these error messages mean? I would appreciate it so much.

Means there was an error. What did it say?

An object error would normally only show up if you have the testing cheats turned on.  Check in your Config folder and see if you have a 'userstartup.cheat' file -- if so, the testing cheats are probably turned on there by default.

You can also try attaching the error log here in this forum, if you think it may be related to any of the hacks on this site or might actually be a legitimate Maxis EA bug (i.e. the error still occurs even when you have removed all of your custom content).

The log file can typically be found in:

C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Logs

The file name is usually ObjectError_N###_t#####.txt

where N### is the neighborhood you are playing (by default N001 is Pleasantview, N002, is Strangetown, etc.)

and the t##### is a string of numbers.
