Title: Bining custorm hair
Post by: ChibyMethos on 2006 October 13, 12:37:12
Is there a number or something that I can change using SimPE that will allow me to bin the custom hair that I've already downloaded without FUBAR-ing my game?  ???
I don't mind having most of it under 'custom,' but it's now taking too long to search through the bin for hair.

You'll find all the info on hair binning in this thread (http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php/topic,2119.msg59038.html#msg59038). Also, check out Theo's Color Binning Tool found here (http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php/topic,3844.0.html).

Datgen is also useful for the inexperienced. What I learned on before I made the jump to SimPe.

Actually the thread I pointed Chiby to mentions the DatGen method too I think.
(and with this post I'm officially a Nitwitted Nuisance!)

The colour binning tool for use in simpe is actually pretty easy.

I was terrified of trying it, but read the instructions carefully...  looked at the tool, ignored the instructions and then just played around.  I messed a few up while I got used to things, but it does things so quickly and easily now.

Don't use datgen.
It really is worth it doing it the right way with Theo's plugin, and it's not difficult.  It will save you a lot of grief in the end.

Yeah, I used Datgen to bin hair for a long time, back when no creators were doing it, and I think the new(ish) tool in SimPe is actually easier.  Keeping hair grouped as a family is much, much simpler with it.  Make sure to read the instructions and make some back-ups for your first tries.  Really, it is the easiest intro. to SimPe, IMHO.   ;)

It's really easy to family hair in Datgen too. It's click all the files and then "set family to checked files." Viola, instant family ties. And I can have more than one brown hair color in the "family."
