Title: uploading businesses
Post by: cwykes on 2006 July 03, 11:42:51
I'm making some shops on desert terrain for upload.  I have some questions.....

The lots that came with OFB had stock already marked for sale. I can't see how to do that when I'm building a lot. I think you'd have to have a sim own the shop in order to be able to mark the stock for sale. Do I upload:-
1. unplayed versions so that none of the stock is marked for sale
2. played versions packaged while the lot is owned by a sim - will the stock be priced and is that safe?
3. second hand versions packaged after the sim has priced things and sold the lot -will the stock still be priced?
4. Some other clever thing I haven't thought of!

If a sim sells a level 3 business and I upload it. Is it still a level 3 business and does that make it more expensive despite the fact the furnishings are older?

I have a health spa which is basically a pay per visit lot. Can I sell clothes there successfully? I suspect you can't combine the 2 types of business successfully.  I think I read here the answer to that is NO

I'd say #1 is the safest bet.

Selling a business to nonplayables or the "community" destroys all business data. It will no longer be level 3.

I have no problems doing so. Your mileage may vary.

Baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!  I'll put them up on TSR unplayed and experiment with clothes sales in a pay per visit resort.

I'm doing some starter businesses - priced about 5k or so.  It's doable - the hairdresser chair in the desert with a few flamingos is up to level 8.  OK it started with a loo, washbasin, expresso and some chairs plus he carried some stuff to and from home in the inventory.  Maybe you need the Ethiopian shop challenge...  Get 5 top businesses of different kinds on business lots (not home) with Ethiopian rules...
