Title: Hidden Lifetime Wants?
Post by: SciBirg on 2006 April 08, 19:56:13
I just read a chart at SnootySims (yeah, Maty withdrawal alright) over the different Lifetime Wants possible in the game.
I don't know if this is true or not but it listed certain LTW that are only available if you don't have NL installed.
Is that true? Can they possibly be enabled again since they are in the game in the first place?

Here's the link: http://www.snootysims.com/lifetime.php

Nope, not true.  They've had those LTW's listed on their site since before NL was even released, and now they're prolly just trying to cover up that they've no idea what the hell they're talking about.

Shucks. Oh well, I guess it was too good to be true.

They copied info taken from the prima guide which was release before the game, you all know what those guide worths.

I know, MissDoh. It was just a hope against hope that there was something to enable hidden deep in the crevices of the game.

I talk to snooty (from snootysims) occasionally. He updates his site on what he hears, regardless whether its true or not. He doesn't mean any harm, but he should check to see if the rumors are true before posting them. By the way, Snootysims is only run by one person.

He should absolutely check to see if it's true or not.  But if he updates his site based on what he hears, why not update it with the list of real Lifetime Wants, and take out the false ones?

naaa, confuses the baaas that insist on taking Prima & Maxis as gospel

I saw that too, and it irritated me because I knew it was incorrect information, as anyone who has played Uni would know.

Snootysims tend to be more prone to rumor-mongering, they're basically the opposite of MATY.

Yes, but they do get the real news first too. Problem is to sort out which is which...  :D

I've never seen them get any real "news". It's just all wild speculation, and occasionally they manage to guess correctly.

Considering that NL added a bunch of expansion pack specific lifetime wants, doesn't the maxis argument against adding the university career related lifetime wants kind of fall through? I mean, it wasn't a problem with the "graduate X number of kids from college" thing...

I've often though the same thing myself, Ellatrue.

I think part of the issue was that they couldn't put together a way for the game to not give one of those lifetime wants to a adult sim.

MaxoidTom arguments on this site (yeah he was on this site a long time ago) was that they did not want teens to end-up with them so in a way we would be force to send them to college!!  Yeah... what a big argument.   ::)

How about elders that already ends-up with impossible LTW when we create them in CAS?  They don't seem to bother about that much...

And that part about not forcing you to send your teens to college doesn't wash either.  Most of the time, two want slots out of a teen's four are tied up with wanting to go to college or get a scholarship.  And they have a huge fear of NOT going to college.  I was testing some sims to see what they would look like as adults, and when I aged them from teen to adult without college, of course, they got the bad memory of not going to college and kept crying about being uneducated.  I guess that's not forcing you to send your teens to college, though.

And there is the elder thing MissDoh mentioned.  I was so pissed off when I first got Uni, and I discovered my favorite elder sims would not be able to fulfill their LTWs the game had assigned.  My Brandi Broke was an elder and had just seen her last child get married, the youngest of ten.  I installed Uni, and her LTW was to marry off six children.  So it didn't count.  I was counting on the modders to fix this, though, and sure enough, they did.

Isn't the Romance sim want Woohoo with 20 different sims?

But if that's the case, why should they force the career related wants on us at all? Ideally for me, at least, the career want would simply be "reach the top of my career track," because that would allow us to use the custom careers. I usually have in mind a certain kind of career for each sim, and it irritates me when they want to be something completely different at random. NO! You may not be a celebrity chef! Your destiny is criminal mastermind/porn star!

Totally different scenarios.  The point of not including the UNI careers as LTWs was because it would be literally impossible for existing adult sims to accomplish them.  They obviously weren't so concerned about Elders with the careers, though.  in reality, a base game install will contain a very small number of Elders anyway (Pleasantview has three playable Elders, Strangetown has one playable Elder, no clue about Veronaville, and Bluewater Village only adds one playable Elder).

The Family wants; Graduate 3 Children, Marry Off 6 Children, Have 6 Grandchildren, Have Golden Anniversary; could be met by any Sim, including elders.  Elders can still adopt, and those children count.  If they were already married when they are ported into UNI, they can have the Golden Anniversary party.

The Pleasure Sim wants and Grilled Cheese Sim want only show up if you have Nightlife, and only if you select those aspirations.  And they can't be aged out of.  Also, Nightlife added in it's own way to re-roll your LTW by way of the Renu-Yu Senso Orb.  It's a waste of uses, but it can be done.

I wish they would add two new aspirations -

Good and Evil.

With LTW such as:

* Kill 20 sims
* Make 20 sims cry
* Make 50 enemies

And typical/normal wants such as:
* Poke [sim]
* Fight [sim] - power want to "Win a fight against [sim]"

And have associated wants with new socials, like:

* curse [sim] - and actually have something happen, like making the other sim disappear in a puff of smoke...
* trip [sim] up

Oh... wait... these are all "Evil"....

These LTW's are all wrong which makes the majority of the list incorrect:

Max 5 skills (should be 7)
Have 10 children abducted by aliens (doesn't exist)
Become Cult leader (Paranormal career) (doesn't exist)
Become ecological leader (Natural scientist career) (doesn't exist)

Graduate 10 children from college (should be 3)
Have 10 grandchildren (should be 6)
Marry off 10 children (questionable)

Woohoo with 10 different sims (should be 20)
Have 10 simultaneous lovers (should be 20)
Become visionary (Artist career) (doesn't exist)

Have 10 simultaneous best friends (should be 20)
Become cult leader (Paranormal career) (doesn't exist)
Become Icon (Show business career) (doesn't exist)

Go on 100 first dates (should be 50)

A note on the career LTW's, the careers exist if you have UNI but the LTW's aren't there for them.

It's Marry off 6 children.  The grandchildren I'm not sure about, but I have seen a Power Want of Have 20 grandchildren.  I suppose that wouldn't be hard if you achieved the 10 kids want, with each child having two children.  It's still too many though, because of the impending BFBVFS.

these are true yet mostly false
I went into the files via simPE and I swear I saw the show business icon on those LTW stars. its there but its cut out of the game.
thats some random ass crappy facts for ya alls

Marry off is for 6 children, not 10.

They symbols exist for Power Wants for the UNI careers, but the only one that seems to be used is the Artist symbol, which somehow gets attached to Attraction token gossip.  The Wants themselves do not exist as far as I can tell.
