Anyone have a fix?

I thought there was no shoplifting in OFB? Although, when I had my store open yesterday I had my sim "show" a customer a tree. When I looked back the tree was out of stock and I couldn't recall checking them through the checkout. Is it a bug, or are Sims supposed to shoplift?

Mine was similar, I saw the girl take the painting (my sim was only one on registers), she had her little shopping bag and walked off the lot, bag in hand, but never paid for it.

Yep, I've got the shopping bag runaways too. Also, I am convinced that sometimes Sims choose items, then shop for another, and if they have the shopping bar above their heads and I close the store they will walk with the first item. Put it back! You are eating into my profits.

There are several ways for them to steal I have seen.

If you ask them to leave, they steal anything they have picked up.

If someone pisses them off real good, they steal all of it and storm off.

If they complain then leave, they steal all of it.

When I close a shop and my Sims still have bags, they check them out before they leave. So your saying they leave with the bags without paying?

Yes, under certain conditions. Just closing the shop doesn't seem to be a problem. These are people stealing while you are open.

Ya know, I kinda had a feeling that a bug like this would occur in OFB, seeing that The Sims 2 is bug prone.

someone suggested that at the bbs, problem being if you call them and they don't see the problem they will fine your sim.

I'm still not sure that this is a bug or a "feature." I've had it happen to me on more than one occasion, though certainly not every business day. Some people on the BBS have reported that some Sims run into the business, grab something, and run out. In my first shoplifting case, I had an exuberant shopper buy a *lot* of items, and then simply march out the door and walk off, without trying to pay.

Actually I kind of hope it's *not* a bug since I'm sure this happens all too frequently IRL.

The rumor on the BBS is, that the shoplifters mainly are teenagers, who leave at curfew time at 7 pm, with a bag full of unpaid goodies. They should however show up another time, still with the bag, and pay for any goods they removed from the shop.

I still have to see this happen myself, as I dont have any teens in my game at the moment.

Now that you mention it, the Sim that "stole" my tree was a teen. But, I'm pretty sure she left around 3 PM or so though, since I closed the store at 5 PM. So I think it's a bug and not just curfew.

I haven't seen her back yet, thing is I have noticed bags lying on the footpath near the portal and thats why I watched this girl leave the lot to see if she dropped the bag at the portal, but no she walked right through bag still in hand

All the teens in my hood I recognize, since allt he towniee teens are buried in a serial killer's backyard.

Its not just teens. Its certain interactions and I assume needs failures that take them out of the regular shopping cycle.

I wouldn't know a shopping bar if I saw one.  I've seen them with dollar signs above their heads, but that's all I think, but they do have different coloured shopping carts next to their pictures in the customer loyalty panel (I think they were either blue or black).  Not sure what that means.  I've probably lost loads of sales by not realising that people were storing things in their trolleys.  Maybel they'll come back and complete their purchases.

Yes, they have the simolean sign over their heads, and then under that should be a green, slightly funnel-shaped "shopping bar." It fills up like a skill bar and tells you how close they are to making a purchase. Or making a run for it, I guess.  :P
