Title: Compatibility problems
Post by: ShinyStarDust on 2010 January 04, 10:37:12
Ok, so just like everyone else, my CC has gone with the latest patch.

So, I uninstalled and reinstalled The Sims and World Adventures and decided not to patch fully, so I could go back to an older version.

Now, I keep getting the error 'The version of the game that you are running is incompatible with the data. Please update your game'.

Do you think I am missing a patch?

I take it you saved your game after you installed the 1.8/2.3 patch?  If so, that's the problem.  The issue is in your saved game, there is a file Meta.data.  It contains the version.  You could probably hex edit it, but I did the easy thing and just right clicked, "Restore previous versions" and restored to a pre-patch version.  It'll say the wrong household if you've changed households since then, but it'll still work and will be correct after you've saved the game.  "Restore previous versions" only works in Vista or Windows 7.

Nah. I did a full clean install.

I've given up now anyway. I paid for the stuff I really missed.
I'll just monitor what happens.

Thanks thou.
