Title: Those Magic (Pause) Moments
Post by: Syera on 2005 November 13, 15:37:03
Ever have those moments in your game where you press the pause button... and you notice something really, really hilarious or surreal is going on?  This (http://www.springhole.net/pics/genie.jpg) one just jumped out at me a few days ago.

That is so funny!  I've had a few but just didn't take a pic (but nothing like that!)  The magic genie! LOL!

Do you mean the smart milk?

Found it, thanks!  Hadn't noticed the underline - must need new glasses, lol.

I get funny moments, too, but never when I've got the pause button on, so I never manage to get pics!

Syera, just visited you site, it's looking good!  I got both your elf skins, and with the pale blue I've ben using from Starrat at The sims Zone, I should be well on the way to creating a completely blue neighbourhood!  (At least until I get an alien abduction or two!)

Thank you for creating them and sharing them.

The smart milk is good, especially now they've improved the interactions a bit.

You know, if someone were to make a clone of that object that you could get regular baby bottles out of, I wouldn't complain. *hinthint* LOL

I'm just sick of having to put those big honking refridgerators in my baby nurseries to prevent them from going wasting time going all the way downstairs to get a bottle for the kid and then go all the way back up again. :P The minifridge's don't work either because the animations are screwy, but the animations are there for the smart milk thingy.

Motoki I never use fridges for baby bottles any more.    The bottomless bottle that Inge has works well.   I use it for babies and toddlers.     Just leave it on the floor and use it again and again.     The toddlers can feed themselves with it too.   If Mom or Dad simmie discard it, just buy another one.

What annoys me most about putting a fridge in the baby room is that when your sims go for groceries, or get a delivery, they ALWAYS trail all the way upstairs to put them in THAT fridge!!!!

Oh I know about her bottle and I have it but I don't always use it. I dunno, it feels a little bit cheatish to me. *shrug* I'd just like something a bit more natural then a bottle that can sit on the ground for generations and stay fresh lol. I usually use the no autonomy fridge in baby rooms. They won't grab chips out of it at least but they do put groceries in it sometimes. :P

I caught a pic like that once...it's a little hard to see, my picture-taking skills weren't so good at that time :P http://www.sims2.thesimsresource.com/screenshots/view.php?id=16863 I paused and noticed the teen boy was in the middle of passing out in his room. Looks more like he's having a seizure.

I started using Inges bottle right after I installed the twins and triplets hack.  A real life saver with a double set of triplets.    But yes, it is a cheat.   I don't really cheat with the toddlers gaining their skills, just with the ability to feed themselves on occasion.

I find teenagers are usually very good at feeding babies - sometimes too good, they want to do it when the toddler is being potty-trained by mum!  (And they always decide it's toddler bedtime when I know that any moment they'll gain some more energy from the flamingo!

I tried to take a picture of Lola Curious when she was pregent.  I don't like Maxis maternity clothes, so most of my sims with child walk around in their underware.  Lola was eating dinner and her cell phone went off.

Pity they can't wear custom PJs!  A nice maternity lounging suit would be cool.

Try VS.  A modder came out with some very nice replacement Maternity Outfits.  She's trying to unlock the code setting for which one they get as well.

I missed a funny picture by hitting pause too late yesterday! Didn't realise that when sims go out to dinner, the waiter or waitress can suddenly go clumsy and drop the dinner all over them! Unfortunately, as soon as the food hits the ground, it goes invisible, so you only have a tiny amount of time to react & pause the game to get a photo.

This was taken a few seconds later. Sorry it's not as funny as it should've been :).

heh heh,

I was in build mode for the latest addition and did a spin to check all walls were covered when I noticed a peculiar toddler transition.

Zephyr -- check out Sims2UK for maternity clothes.  They show up under pjs for the pregnant sims so that's what you have to dress them in, but they've got jumpers, suits and dresses.  They look normal on the preggers sims too.  Hope you like!

Oh yeah, I love those moments.

OK, I lied, I don't love them but I find them quite amusing. Like farmer Ezra feeding the gargoyles at the cemetery or the boy who had to tell a joke so bad, he told it right through the bathroom door - talk about impatience.

Pfft. I had an adult holding her toddler while it transitioned into a child. Some strange broken arm action going on here, then one of those creepy "grown-up-holding-seven-year-old-like-a-three-year-old" things, then she dumped the kid on the floor where it sat like a toddler.

No lasting effects, luckily.

Eesh, I've had those too, sometimes the child seems to be embedded in the parent's torso and I've had to use moveobjects to remove it.

Like the teddy bear used to get stuck before the first patch?

Title: Re: Those Magic (Pause) Moments

I never installed the patch because I planned on installing the EPs. I don't use the bear often so I'd forgotten about that until it happened the other day. It was actually really cool because they still used it except that I could see the actual animations without the bear in the way. Moving objects while they're in use makes for great storytelling... that is, if you're a great story teller, which unfortunately I'm not.

"Oh, are you a REAL genie?"  LOL!

I don't have much in the line of photos now because I wiped them out with my excess neighborhoods yesterday, but last night I snagged a couple.  This first one is of my guy who just started out like the Xtreme Legacy challenge.  The first picture is Aristotle Rembrandt himself, and the second picture is his 'house' (he finally got enough aspiration points to get himself a noodle soother and got a promotion with a big enough bonus for the tub--to this point he'd been showering on community lots).  The third picture is his mail lady out on her deliveries.  She seems a bit disturbed.  Hmmm.  I wonder if she'd be interested in settling down with the fella with the tub in his yard! :D

It doesn't hurt to install the Sims2 patch to the stand-alone game, if you install EPs they check and find it and don't upgrade again.

Very nice!   ;D

Here's a recent one of mine (I mean sure, Sally is Romance and working on the "Twenty lovers" LTW (http://www.davidchess.com/words/sims2_a/SallyHalfwayHome.html) and all, but talk about sexism!):

How some men think.
This is Professor Somebody, one of Sally's daughter's profs from college, and Sally's lover number 14 or so. Gina's been introducing Sally to college friends to help her with her LTW, as the home neighborhood is running out of spare adults.

(It only showed this way from certain angles; I was lucky to notice it while on pause looking at something else.)

You got crazy bubbles too? I've had two sims develop crazy bubbles like that. One had it happen while meditating, and another time Marsha Bruenig walked by the house with bubbles trailing along behind her. It was quite freaky.

I've had them after supercleaning, the bubbles just stick... I've also seen them keep the waves after swimming, those who have zzzzs all day, and a teen who is still glowing blue 3 weeks after a shot of elixer.
