Title: Odd (I'm assuming FT Related) Problems
Post by: MajorMercedes on 2008 April 15, 01:57:38
One of my sims does not have an aspiration icon, or an aspiration rewards icon that I can click on.  His wants are fine.  When I roll over his Aspiration Meter, he's still in Perma-Plat.  It's not hindering gameplay, besides the fact that I can't milk him for aspiration rewards before he croaks.  I'm sure it's not a download problem, since he was okay yesterday, and I haven't added any downloads since then.

I'm sorry if this has already been posted.  I did a search and got nothing.

Also, is there a way to remove his ability to cheat death?  I really need to empty out the house. ;)

I thought with TJ's college adjuster you can keep adding them?

Yea, I guess, but that may be borking things...

Hey, I know this one. I managed it yesterday :p

Most likely, his aspiration field has been set to a number higher than six or seven, making it undefined. Try using the ReNuYu orb or a cheat object to change it back.

No idea how it happened, though. Mine occurred because I was screwing about in SimPE and got the wrong field.

It may be related to the FT bug in which a sim can have a stuck aspiration meter reading platinum, but actually be in the red, causing aspiration rewards to give negative effects.  The solution to that is to use the re-nu-yu orb to set sim to Grilled Cheese, and then again to reset to the aspiration of choice.

That sim is very, very broken. I bet you tried to change aspiration using some third-party cheat. And you broke it. Don't do that.

TwoJeff and Pescado both provide a fix for the borken aspirations. So you don't have to waste your Aspriation points on a Renuyu Orb.

That's so sad :/ . No wonder the poor thing needs four locked wants.

Nope.  I have never changed his aspiration, ever.

I also use the InSim to get four want locks, and have been doing it for a VERY long time.

I thought that may have been the case.  I tried it, and he's back to normal now.  Thanks!

I tried that, and he just begged Grimmy to let him go, so they did the "pick a hand" thing, and he won.  Again.  Will SimPE solve this, or will it bork him?

If the change of aspiration fixed him, and he now functions normally, presumeably he will age normally and will simply die at the appointed hour, or have I got the question wrong?

If you just want to kill him, spawning Rodney's death creator will give you plenty of options for that.

If you want him to die you just have to keep trying to kill him. As I understand it the wish to cheat death works as follows; the first time he cheats death he has a 100% chance of survival. Each subsequent time that percentage will go down, so eventually he will lose and die, just don't give up. I believe that I read that each time he successfully cheats death the percentage will drop by 10%, so if you try 10 times he should die by the end.

Yes, but FT heavily changed how aspiration want things work, so Insim may be responsible for fucking up your sim if you touched the wrong option. Even some of the older EAxis debug choices can screw you up. If you ever pick a secondary aspiration for your sim, do NOT use any of the older aspirational changers.
