Title: help with magic wand please?
Post by: cwykes on 2007 November 07, 08:31:49
I tracked all the references to Pescado's magic wand back to the download file and I've got it.  What I didn't find was anything practical on how to use it?

Q1 - there are 2 files in there magicwand.package and magicwandcollection.package
Do I need both or is this an either/or thing?

Q2 - where is it in game?  If I could find it, maybe I could figure out how to wave it around!

Yes you do need both. You need to put the magicwandcollection.package in your 'Collections' folder and the other goes into your regular downloads folder. You can find it in-game, not surprisingly, in the collections. :)

Don't worry, I couldn't find it at first either and had to ask Pescado :D

OH duh - now you say it. ::)
As you don't just drop it in downloads like the rest of his hacks - pretty please can you twist his arm to say so in the readme.

Like Pescado would listen to anything I'd say.....he might see your post though, and decide that it was a great idea and glad he thought of it ;)

I'm glad someone asked this. I had just dropped both files into my downloads file and forgot about it. That's right, I didn't even look for it while I was playing (which I guess is a good thing, since obviously I wouldn't have found it anyway!).

Pescado didn't want to put it in-catalog as it is too powerful a tool to be used willy-nilly. I personally haven't used it and don't know what it is for. I still have it installed though, 'cos I might need it one day! For what though-I dunno.

By the way, collection files in the downloads folder will still work. I recommend you keep them together, just to save yourself from accidentally pulling a Ness.

So...

It's magic, you wave it around and either it unbreaks your unplayable lot
because your sims have all gone missing, or it depreciates everything to
minimum normal value, so you don't need a meditation dummy. It's a magic wand.
I get the depreciation. Good for sharing lots. I don't get how it unbreaks unplayable lot. Does it maybe fix the occasional issue of an unoccupied lot being stuck in play mode?

It fixes the occasional issue of a playable lot being stuck in build/buy mode because its occupant has mysteriously vanished, for instance, by not arriving when walking someplace, or not showing up on a business lot it was headed to.
