Well, one trick I've used in the past is a sort of "embryo selection" trick. Extract both Sims with Simsurgery, then load them in CAS in a test neighborhood. Mash that "create a baby" button until you get a face you like, then delete the rest and save the target sim. Open up that test sim's file in SimPE, extract his LXNR, and copy it back over the LXNR of your original neighborhood (SimPE's simsurgery cannot do this part without filling your neighborhood in garbage sims).



And voila, you now have your selected designer baby.  [by JM Pescado]

Tutorial: how to change genetics after home plastic surgery *UPDATED* 21-09-2005

Since the Sims 2 Community never sits still, I've gotten a bit behind, but I'm catching up. First thing is a complete update of my tut here. The version of Simpe I used for this is 0.48C (the first Nightlife "aware" version). These new versions of Simpe have made it even easier to edit your Sims genetics!



1. Open Simpe, then open your neighbourhood via the neighbourhood browser



2. Open the Sim browser



3. Find the Sim that has recently been to the plastic surgeon (they're listed by their first name) and click "open"



4. You'll see a lot of info. Click on "more" and choose "open character file"



5. Then the character file of your Sim opens. On the left hand side you will see "Facial Structure", click it and on the right hand side two lines will appear (if you've done plastic surgery that is!!!)



6. Right click the second line and choose "Extract..."



7. Save the extracted file in a directory of your choice, KEEP THE ORIGINAL NAME



8. Back in Simpe, right click the first line and choose "Replace..."



9. Then select the file you just extracted. IMPORTANT: use the file with the .simpe extension NOT the file with the .xml extension!!!



10. The first line will go italics, telling you that it's been changed. Click "Save" and you're all done!



The lines will not alter their appearance, they will say exactly the same as before, however, what's inside is definetly altered!



Again, use the SIMPE extension file and NOT, NOT NOT the XML file
