Thanks Striker, I'm off to download. *crosses fingers*

I don't know why they go get another pizza when the first one still has plenty of slices and is still fresh. Roll Eyes Very annoying.

I think it's more for ambience than for any possible food value.  Having half-eaten pizza and pizza boxes laying around everywhere makes it look more like a bunch of frat boys live there. Smiley

Hook

Quite true. All we need is some empty beer bottles, piles of dirty clothes, and a few supermodel posters and it'll be perfect.  Tongue
253  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: More issues with NL on: 2005 October 10, 18:37:21
I could be wrong but I thought greek members bring back objects rather than pizza when the greek house is at level 5-6. I've never had greek houses with that high of a level (mine are all about 3, I think I have one level 4), so far all my greek sims have brought back nothing but pizza, when I let them go. Most of the time I cancel out of the "visit campus" action because I was tired of the half eaten pizza and pizza boxes littering the lot. I don't know why they go get another pizza when the first one still has plenty of slices and is still fresh. Roll Eyes Very annoying.

Great news! I'm looking forward to seeing what it fixes too. Hopefully this continues to be a sign of much better things to come. *fingers crossed*
255  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Leave those lights on! on: 2005 October 05, 19:26:24
Oh, great. Now I have that song from Santana's Supernatural album featuring Everlast running through my head. "Put Your Lights On." Good song though.  Cool
256  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: The man of her dreams... on: 2005 October 05, 16:15:50
Makes sense to me! I think Sim State is a good blend of the two. It seems to have more stuff to do than Fiesta and allows Greek houses, which Le Tour does not. But I like Le Tour's community lots the best ... I like variety so I had all three colleges attached to my old neighborhood and Le Tour and Sim State attached to my new one.

I'm so psyched! I've finally got a computer that can play NL. It's sitting next to me in my office right now. I just have to wait for work to be over so I can go home and get it all set up. Woo hooo!!!

I think I feel a cold coming on.  Wink

I may have misunderstood what you said but you can have Greek houses at Le Tour, you just have to make them yourself. I like to use the victorian house for a sorority and that three story "craftsman" style home for a fraternity. Just make sure to name the lot for the fraternity/sorority (like Oresha Cham House) when you place it, otherwise you'll have a Greek house named "75 Pine Street" or something like that. Wink Move your students in, have one of them select "apply for charter" on the phone and for a small fee they're a Greek house.

One of the things I especially like about NL is the new feature with the lot bin. I've placed all of my empty houses and community lots in it, when I put them back in the neighborhood a handy duplicate remains in the bin. Very nice for my custom university (Salem Technological Institute) in my own neighborhood (Three Sisters Island). I placed copies (renamed them too) of some of the Sim State community stores in Pleasantview because I liked the way they looked better than the community lots that came with Pleasantview. They had more of the "old town Main Street" I was looking for.
257  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: NL Cemetary Tombstone Problem (Possible Fix) on: 2005 October 05, 14:59:22
You all are making this way too complicated.  If you click on a tombstone at the community lot you can add it to your inventory.  You then click anywhere on the lot and "Place Tombstone Here".

I think you can then go into build mode and move it.

That's good to know, thanks for sharing the advice.  Smiley
258  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: So what's been fixed in NL on: 2005 October 03, 23:13:22
Thank you nectere for the explanation. It's an annoying situation but understanding the reason behind the issue reduces my frustration greatly. Until the issue is fixed (hopefully soon) I'll use your process for moving tombstones I absolutely want moved and I like the mausoleum idea too for the my large, creepy houses. Thanks again, not knowing why was bugging me.
259  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Strange Family Ties on: 2005 October 03, 18:40:50
Eww, I'd completely forgotten that Lola & Chloe are actually half-siblings of the Curious brothers and Jenny Smith. I'd never really paid attention to the family tree and thought at most they were distant cousins or such. Before my reinstall Lola was married to Pascal, raising alien step-son Ulyssess and their twins William and Anne. Chloe had son Trevor by Lazlo Curious before he settled down with Crystal Vu. Lips sealed I haven't touched Strangetown yet since the reinstall, maybe it's time to go in a completely different drection before I gross myself out entirely. I may still marry Vidcund Curious to Erin Singles though, they seem to get along quite well.
260  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: So what's been fixed in NL on: 2005 October 03, 16:20:07
I was having similar problems with the "invisible" tombstones too. I thought I'd solved it by using only the "move grave or graves" option then immediately saving and going to the community lot to place the tombstone. I'd also stopped using Gothier Green Lawns for anything other than a hangout spot and used my own community cemeteries I'd created. Sadly as I'd mentioned in this thread the problem came back after Herb Oldie died in platinum. I'd kept him alive about 15 sim days longer than normal (with the Elixir) so he and Coral could raise a couple more adopted kids. Herb also had a kid with a Romance sim I'd made and a kid with Dina Caliente after Mortimer had died. In some ways this new glitch reminded me of the old "undead elder" bug. So I went ahead and decided to reinstall (wanted to redo all the neighborhoods anyway) and start everything over. I've been able to move Darleen Dreamer to my Pleasantview Memorial Lawn with success. Mortimer's due to die shortly and I'm hoping moving him will work ok.

What's frustrating is that I don't have any idea of what's going wrong. Why it worked sometimes and then stopped working. I can't stand it when I know something is wrong but I don't have the knowledge to figure it out or fix it. I'll be so relieved when Pescado gets his copy and is able to take a look and find out the cause, I'm concerned that the reinstall is just buying me some time and the problem will return at some point again.
261  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Nightlife bugs on: 2005 September 29, 14:20:23

Sorry to be a pain and bring this up again but unfortunately the problem came back today. Sad Yesterday Herb Oldie died in platinum (I had reset my neighborhoods to my last backup right before I installed NL). I moved his grave to "Pleasantview Memorial Lawn", and the strangest thing was that his fancy platinum tombstone was now plain grey at the community lot. Perhaps I should have then realized that something was wrong. Today it was Coral Oldie & Olive Spector's time to meet the Grim Reaper. They died, I clicked "move to X" and saved but I then had the same problem with the tombstone would be invisible on the community lot in build/buy mode and visible when a sim goes to the lot. *sigh* Though I'd let you all know. I'll fill out the form at the BBS as soon as I can, right now I have the "icepick-in-my-right-temple" sort of headache.

Bummer, I thought I'd found a way to make the cemetery feature work but the problem with it is above my minimal computer knowledge. I'm going to have to leave it up to Maxis and/or the mods to figure out what's going wrong. So far it's beginning to seem like a nasty new incarnation of the undead/elder bug. Undecided

Maybe it's a bug with Maxis-created sims? My elder sim died in platinum and when I sent him to his family cemetary (custom, made by me) it showed up fine. I honestly winced when it loaded, I was sure something would go wrong!

Sorry about not responding earlier, I've been inundated with non-sims chores.  Sad Perhaps it is a bug with Maxis-created sims, or Herb & Coral sharing two water coolers of Elixir (to raise the kids they adopted) had something to do with it. I'm not sure. Since my computer knowledge is minimal at best it's going to take the modders to figure this one out. I've reinstalled my game, hopefully by the time I have someone die there might be more information about this problem, or even a fix. Though Mortimer will die in about two sim days, I wonder if I'll have any luck moving his grave to my Pleasantview Cemetery lot. I guess I'll save the neighborhood in my backup folder right before he dies and see what happens.
262  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: The best Dream Date is done at home! on: 2005 September 27, 22:23:37
I agree. By far, the most "dream dates" my sims have had were at a home lot. The frat house at Sim State is beginning to look kind of silly with all of the bouqets of red roses about.  Tongue I may try a few community lot dates just for fun but dream dates at home are so much easier to manage.
263  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: The man of her dreams... on: 2005 September 27, 03:57:46
Heather often dreams about herself with all the floating love hearts. Go figure.

So our sims can have Narcissistic Personality Disorder too? Wink I haven't seen that yet, other than the usual plain dreaming about themselves (without the little hearts). Too funny.

Seeing your post this afternoon perked my interest so I decided to get started (again) on the Sim State college students. I thought it would make it interesting to go a completely different direction this time. I made three ladies that I thought would be perfect for Ashley, Kevin & Castor. So far Ashley & Felicity are deeply in love, Kevin & Madeline are almost there and Castor & Renee are on their way to becoming good friends. I wanted to play longer but RL chores are always piling up around here. There's a couple of handsome guys I've made that Heather & Tiffany will meet the next time I can play.

The funniest thing was the house where Martin, Jane and Allegra live. I gave Allegra a makeover because I like her better with short blond hair and softer makeup. While I was checking on Jane to have her work off the "freshman 15" (the extra pounds) I heard that funny little noise the sims make when they're attracted to another. Martin & Allegra were "checking each other out", and if you can believe it they have three lightning bolts for each other! So I guess those two are destined to be together. It's funny the things your sims will do when left to their own devices.

I know what you mean about wanting your little people happy. My neighborhoods have always tended to be mostly "happily ever after" with a small touch of "desperate housewives". And if you can believe it I have a dollhouse that I've been working on too for a few years now. Shocked Not the type a child can play with though, it's more for a collector/crafty adult. I sure enjoy my sims though and enjoy working out their stories. It's more fun than reading a trashy novel or watching dramatic tv shows. I get to take the story wherever I want it to go. My husband thinks I'm a little overinvolved but it's so much fun how can I not be?
264  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: The man of her dreams... on: 2005 September 26, 23:03:17
How about find (or create) the perfect three-bolt guy for Tiffany? Her current romance with Castor can be one of those young adult college flings that just don't work out. Maybe have one couple live in downtown and one in Pleasantview and just let the love feelings fizzle out. Or have a big teary blow out where one of them catches the other,"I thought you loved me!" The level of drama is up to you!  I decided to do a fresh reinstall on Sunday so I'm back to square one with all the in-game sims. Last time around I had Tiffany with Kevin, Castor with Allegra, and Heather with Martin but I may do something completely different this time. I'm not really all that interested in Brittany or Joshua, they may remain  permanent students. Or very shallow Pleasure sims.

Nightlife is sure adding all sorts of fun to the Romance aspiration for me. I had this one Romance gal I just made (Leila) and she's a kick. She lives in the downtown to Strangetown and hooked up with that frat guy from La Fiesta Tech, I think his name is Mickey. They're so enamored of each other they woohoo'd on the first date. As they're sleeping Leila dreams not only of Mickey, but the fireman (who she hasn't met yet) and a couple of the neighbors who'd stopped by. She's going to be quite the busy lady!  Cheesy
265  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Nightlife Rocks (Gasp!) on: 2005 September 26, 16:12:59
Thanks for the laugh Gus!  Cheesy I haven't had a horrible date yet, I may try it out. I've heard you can keep the flaming bags in your sim's inventory, then line them up a walkway like luminarias. That would make quite the decorating statement.

So far the only thing I've noticed about the chemistry element is that it seems to get compatible sims in a love relationship faster than before. It used to take me a couple of sim days to get them in love, one couple I played yesterday fell in love and married within 24 sim hours of their "blind date." This could make it even easier for adult Romance sims to fulfill their "woohoo with 20 sims" LTW without needing the elixir of life. As long as they pick a compatible date things go well enough for a woohoo interaction on the first date.

I'm having fun with this EP too, minus some of the annoyances I've encountered (like glitches with moving graves). I'm really glad to hear that Maxis is doing as much as they can to stay on top of the bugs. The new downtown area is really neat and I can't say enough about the houses, they are beautiful (always been a fan of those gorgeous San Francisco victorian homes). I'm not all that interested in the business EP yet but I'm glad they're making it. We all have different interests in what we like and it's a good thing that Maxis tries to meet a wide variety of those interests. Hope that makes sense.
266  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Vamprocillin-D on: 2005 September 26, 15:10:05
Hmmm - I wonder if the vamp needs to use her own Vamprocillin-D, therefore, needing it in her inventory?  Just a thought.

It shouldn't have to be in their inventory. Have a look down the bottom: http://www.livejournal.com/community/thesims2/1284926.html

Wouldn't make much sense if a non-controllable vamp had to have the Vamprocillin in their inventory.

My apologies for not being clear in my post. With the other posts I've been seeing that describe the same problem as you I think this is an unfortunate glitch. By design you should be able to influence a sim to drink the potion (whether it is the vamprocillin, the renu-port-a-chug or the love potion) but for some reason it doesn't work. The interaction simply disappears. I had the same problem with the renu-port-a-chug. Olive Spector placed hers on the dining table but Nervous Subject (who lives with her now) won't drink it. I could be wrong but I'm thinking this can be added to the list of NL bugs.
267  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Vamprocillin-D on: 2005 September 26, 03:53:38
Hmmm - I wonder if the vamp needs to use her own Vamprocillin-D, therefore, needing it in her inventory?  Just a thought.

I've seen other posts about this on one of the other sites, or maybe the BBS (can't remember at the moment) but I think nothingbutsims is right. The vamp needs to use his/her own Vamprocillin-D from his/her inventory. For some reason they won't touch it otherwise, even if it's on the table right in front of them. I don't know if this is a glitch or as designed.  Huh Would you be able to get the medicine into the vampire's inventory with Merola's mind control mirror or is that not NL compatible yet?

There's always the options of the new cheats, and some nifty new modded objects made from the cheats (as I mentioned in the other vampire thread). Carrigon's gold spider and Twojeffs' college adjuster have options for the vampire cheats, along with many others. They definitely make my gameplay more enjoyable for me.
268  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Is there a hack in the plans for no random biting? on: 2005 September 26, 03:10:22
Both Carrigon's golden spider and Twojeffs' college adjuster have vampire options ("make vampire" and "cure"). I've been using both objects for their other splendid qualities and have had no problems. Carrigon's golden spider is really neat, you can place it on a table or the floor and it utilizes all of the new cheats. Perhaps this could help your sim's future fiance.

270  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Maybe Bella isn't as dead as some of us would like to think. on: 2005 September 26, 01:43:56
Well, I had a very funny experience tonight. I have just installed Nite-life and restarted all my neighbourhoods.  So I start with the Brokes, get them sorted, Brandi started out at the next to top job in the Catering career. Hired a nanny and moved here in.  Started playing with the teleporter bush, and saw Bella Goth listed as a townie. I thought it was a bit weird, anyway I moved her in. She had memories of Cassie getting left at the altar and Alexander getting A+. Got her to grab the paper and find her own place. I then moved her in with the family. Mortimer told her the marriage was over (wedding rings red xed) and asked about the rocket.

Anyway I left the lot and saved it. When I went back in Bella was invisible, and I got the message to say that Bella had died on another lot. Sent Cassie straight to the Reserect-tron and called GR. Paid full amout to have her reserected. GR  obliged, and told me not to let her die again.  Bella and Morty are now engaged, funnily enough there relationship scores are 100/50, and I don't see how he got the option to propose, but he did.

Just wondered, what has Maxis done to make her a playable character?

Wow, weird! I had noticed that certain previously unresurrectable dead (Ophelia Nigmos' parents, Lyla Grunt, Skip Broke, etc.) are now resurrectable but I didn't realize stuff could be done with the Pleasantview Bella now. I've seen "Bella clone" partying it up in the downtown Strangetown nightclubs. I wonder if she'll start wandering around like a regular townie or if you have to do certain stuff like the teleporter bush to get her to appear. Could she actually show up as a blind date from the matchmaker? Or will we see her in one of the nightclubs, spinning in that orb thing? I wonder if this means the BBS will be spammed more with Bella threads. *shudders* Should make for some really interesting game play. I'm still undecided as to whether I should leave her in permanent limbo or not.
271  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Is there a hack in the plans for no random biting? on: 2005 September 25, 21:12:18
That's a great idea Ruann. Gives the gamer a little more control over the vampire aspect. I'd thought from the chats and such that a vampire would bite only if the relationship was high enough. So I had planned on just not befriending any vampires, since I'm not interested. This random biting is not something I want to happen, but I'd like others who enjoy the vampire aspect to still be able to play it as they'd like. Your idea helps to widen the choices of the gamer, as I think it should be. Hopefully it's doable.
272  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Is there a hack in the plans for no random biting? on: 2005 September 25, 19:59:18
Well, it may not be exactly what you're looking for, but I made this:

http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php?topic=718.msg26264#msg26264

to prevent any vampires from biting any NPCs of any kind. It won't protect regular sims though, so if you want to avoid them altogether, this won't help. I may make a TTAB alteration later that will prevent vampires from autonomously biting other sims, but this would also prevent them from biting a sim you want to be vamped unless you use another sim to influence them to bite the sim you want to be bitten. (I hope that made sense, lol) So, I guess if people want it, I'll make a version that will not allow any autonomous biting altogether. Smiley

Thank you many times over!  Grin I would love an option to turn off autonomous biting or vampires all together. I'm just not into that aspect of the game and didn't want it pushed upon me by incidents of random biting. A mod to avoid that would be greatly appreciated.
273  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Nightlife bugs on: 2005 September 25, 00:58:24
As for the day-glo pee, would that happen to sims unfortunate enough to live next to the nuclear power plant?  Tongue

We are fixing some issues with the tombstones in the Nightlife patch.  The tombstone controller was being set up incorrectly if it was versioned and got reset.

I was finally able to get my tombstones to be visible in build/buy mode so I could set up my cemeteries. This is how I did it-

1. Created community lot for cemetery, named & described appropriately, save lot.
2. Go to residential lot with tombstones, choose "move grave" or "move all graves" (in the case of the Specter lot).
3. After ghosts wave "goodbye" and tombstone disappears, wait for "so and so's grave have been moved, please save etc."-save lot immediately and then go straight back to neighborhood view.
4. Go to community lot (from the neighborhood view in build/buy mode), tombstones are visible and can be moved. Set up cemetery as desired. Save when finished.

I didn't mess with putting the tombstone in the sim's inventory or move any of them to Gothier Green Lawns. I think I was messing the process up when I clicked on "move to X" by not saving immediately, sometimes I'd play the lot a few minutes longer. Not any more, that's for sure! Unfortuantely with all that messing around with the neighborhoods, such as resurrecting sims who maybe shouldn't have been (like Lyla Grunt, Creon & Willow Nigmos) I was concerned about neighborhood stability so I copied the backups I made of the neighborhood right before I'd installed Nightlife over my current neighborhood files. Lost two days play but I don't want to take any chances.

Thanks again MaxoidTom for helping us get all of this worked out. It's good to know that this will be taken care of in the patch but in the meantime hopefully what I've found will help others with the same problem.

Sorry to be a pain and bring this up again but unfortunately the problem came back today. And what about vampires randomly biting other sims, like Brandi Broke and Dina Caliente? I've read a few posts over on the BBS about this and was puzzled. I was under the impression that a sim would only be bit if they had a high enough relationship with the vampire. I'm not really into that aspect of gameplay (have very few aliens and no zombies either) so I thought if my sims avoided them like they do the child townies I wouldn't have any other vampires than the ones that came with the game. Are these incidents of "random" biting a glitch also?
