I had a look at CAW when it first came out and figured it was going to be a PITA. Pity, I used to make nice hoods in Simcity 4 for Sims 2. That was clever marketing and all that jazz. I would love to make my own world but ain't going to battle with CAW for it. I don't take my sims travelling at all, apart from Uni and the future, the rest of it is just too buggy. Plus creepy. ETA: Might have been Simcity 3, I don't remember now. ETA2: I'm just cruising Pinterest and I found a page of worlds. One of them is a modded version of the first EAxis world. http://sunnyccfinds.tumblr.com/post/46216521041/moonskin93-grumpysimsSo maybe there is a way to do it. Have you checked with Simlogical?

Yeah, I have a set up Appaloosa Plains which has not been initiated, it is saved so I don't have to do it over again. I tried moving my sims to a new hood but it is indeed a fresh base game that eventuates. Nraas has a mod, Traveller?, that allows you to take vacations in other hoods, so maybe you could establish your sims in the blank hood, then have them vacation in the islands?

I have often wondered whether I could take a saved game world into CAW but my readings seem to indicate that it's not possible to go backwards unless you have the original CAW files.
I just save a blank world that is set up the way I like it, with houses, communities etc, then run TheRapture. I save this as a template.
PTA Oh and no, the sims 2 corrupted moved files, the sims 3 seems to be much safer, I'm pretty sure Pescado said they're safe to be moved now.
In fact I have just bundled and moved my famblies into a new hood as I was sick of celebs. I'm still getting paparazzi spawning, so I guess I'll have to remove all celeb points before moving them again. I've unticked celebs and ticked the box to keep the active fambly out. I think I'll make a request, actually.
Don't evict robots though, they lose all their trait chips.

You seem to have a talent for making things difficult for yourself. I'm currently playing 5 games and all of them downloaded and worked out of the box, so to speak. I've been playing this way for nearly a decade and have not had any major problems I could not solve.

I think you'd have a hard time not being spied on these days. Our phones do it, our TVs do it, our web browsers do it, web sites do it and our operating systems do it. Always wondered why people would bother paying for internets on a 3" x 4" screen, never done it myself, I can sort of understand internet on tablets. My TV is merely a screen for my multimedia machine which runs on my home LAN. Yes, we ARE being spied upon in all sorts of ways, I acknowledge, but I figure I just disappear in the data mass unless I make myself noticed. Buying Sims 3 was mostly about saving my sanity, as when it sometimes threw an error during patching, I'd have to reinstall it to fix it. I've reinstalled about twice during the lifetime of the game. As for Steam controlling if we can play the games we buy, or the possibility of taking our stuff away, well isn't that what you do yourself to a degree, by having a timebomb set into Awesomemod? fyi this has now been removed since there will be no more TS3 releases. So far I've managed to avoid both Steam and Origin and I consider this quite an achievement in the current gaming scenario. Level up.

I've never got this to work. Where does one enter the name of the fish? Is there a command associated? And no, I've not read the manual lately. You just seem to know how to work the thing and I would like to know how to work the thing.

Methinks Jezzer is bored.
How any one person can misunderstand so thoroughly always bemuses me. This is a prime example of Sita misunderstanding why the original poster was so irritating, from the martyred username right through to the entitled swish and flounce at the end.

Cool. They are very fiddly to place, I find I have to click/drag repeatedly when placing them to get the outline to turn green and for them to connect properly to the floor below. You can see visually if they're right if you can see the tubes going to the floor above, and if the centre of the tube looks empty instead of floored.

Did you go and edit Uni, place the lot and return to main game and save? That is the process I followed when I placed the lot this time.
Before, when I couldn't get the students to use the lift capsules, I did the editing while my sims were waiting on the clipboard. That time the sims wouldn't use the capsules.
That's all I can figure with the difference. I never had sims added to the household though, that's weird.

Vorpal, I have AM storymode set to yes, and game storymode set to yes. When I go to Uni or the future the world is always populated with the normal sims. i.e the same aging lot of university sims and a random lot of future sims. Dunno about the vacation worlds, they're too buggy for me and I don't use them.

Yeah, you can create new lots, of course, but I find I cannot place dorms on dorm lots, they have to be Community lots with no visitors allowed before I can place the dorm. I don't know if that's natural game behaviour or if it's to do with Nrass Travellers' mod, which is what I use to allow me to change the lot type to Dormitory. The native game will not allow selection of Dormitory as a lot type. TL:DR If you make a new 40 x 40 lot and set it as Community with no visitors allowed, you should be able to place the dorm. ETA: There are no guest toilets There is, however, a tunnel under the dorm connecting the two sets of lift capsules. (From when I was still trying to get the townie dormies to use the lifts.) You could extend and make guest toilets, or just sling a couple of those all-in-one toilet/showers in the tunnel.
