26  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Greet interaction still cancelling itself for Child Sims on: 2007 September 14, 23:02:11
 Sad

So I took out all the hacks from the game and had my child sim invite over another child sim.  Same thing, sim comes over, my sim goes to greet then nothing.  Sometimes the visiting child will just go right in, but most of the time she just keeps going over to the mailbox and I repeat my request, but still nothing and eventually the child goes away.  I have tried this with other child sims too.

I can however have an adult sim greet the child and it works that way.   Huh

Do you think I will have to reinstall?  If I do have to reinstall, can I use the blank templates at this time, to avoid too many sims in the hoods?

sounds good! thanks B, I will try that!  Grin

. . . and both parents came with a full set of clothing items too, I never even thought about the jewelry, I will definitely check that out! Thanks!  Grin
29  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Can't buy Jewelry on any Vacation Lots SOLVED-THANKS! on: 2007 September 13, 18:45:16
Basically that's it, I have the Traveller family loaded into a custom neighborhood, all by themselves and I am sending them on vacations to each Vacation Subhood.

I haven't put the jewelry display in any of the regular community lots yet, but every BV subhood, when anyone tries to buy jewelry, the menu comes up and I can click on any jewelry, but the shopping basket icon is greyed out and I can't "buy" anything!  Huh
30  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Greet interaction still cancelling itself for Child Sims on: 2007 September 13, 18:40:46
I am playing the Traveller family only after installing BV, so I have practically no hacks in for now with the exception of the following;

childrenstaylater
djslessfuriousness
MoreHygieneCommunalShower
noautonomouscooking
noautonomousturnoffstereoEP3
noeatcrap
PTZ - LazyAnimFixOnly
SimlogicalNoCareShrubs_patch

. . . and again when the child sim invites another child sim over, I choose greet so and so, she goes right up to the sim and then the action gets drop, every time. No one has grown up on the lot, as I have "aging off".

. . . the only hack that I think it might be is "childrenstaylater"??

. . . besides the fact it is a non-awesome hack, any suggestions  Huh

thank you

There never has been a situation where the car pool comes or they have to go to class when I am cancelling the action.  I am usually just satisfying a want or bringing up their fun.

I do have "no autonomous  instruments", however, I have been using that mod for a long time now.  Also it did work after I installed Seasons and the last update from the Official Site.  I have always had to wait while they went through the tedius task of picking up the jar and shaking it or getting tips, but now they don't even go near it, just turn around and either do something else on their own or do the next thing in the queue. Huh

Other sims can and do put in tips, they watch and clap, so all of that is the norm.  I also deleted the instrument several times, a put in a new one, but still the same results.

33  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Sims don't retrieve Simoleons from Tip Jar on: 2007 August 30, 19:38:52
I don't have any mods/hacks that have anything to do with tipping, like the no buskers, or tipfix.   Every time my sims play for tips, when I cancel the action of playing, they drop the instrument and leave the tip jar untouched!  Huh

Any suggestions would be appreciated of course!  Smiley

34  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Graduating more than one sim at a time . . . Is it possible?? on: 2007 August 10, 22:21:38
Sad damn, that's what I figured!

I can see why they can only graduate one Sim at a time, same as the birthday scenarios.  However, I do seem to remember that before OFB or Pets, (can't remember which one now), that any other Sims that were finished at the same time and you invited them to the grad party, they would come in their grad suits, even to the point they would continue to wear that same suit until you played them again or made them playable.   Roll Eyes

Now I don't know if that part was removed over time or if I have a mod that stops it, but I don't think I do.  I do have JMP's clothes hack, but I removed the part were I could choose their adult clothing before returning to the neighborhood.

It does remind me thou of the other things we lost as other expansions were added, like everyone at the party taking a piece of birthday cake and that very cool greeting we used to get before UNI !  Cry

Thanks for all your help, I do appreciate it!!  Grin
35  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Graduating more than one sim at a time . . . Is it possible?? on: 2007 August 08, 23:07:16
 Huh

Just wondering if it is possible, if not, is there a mod out there that might?  I did check this forum for any discussions regarding this topic.

Thanks

37  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Missing Eyeglasses ( um solved :-[ ) on: 2007 June 09, 20:34:52
I did search and found the other posts concerning the missing or corrupted glasses.  I tried all the solutions offered there but I do believe my problem is a little different.

All the original eyeglasses that came with the base game are missing.  Any ep pack glasses, eg. goggles and stuff do show up.

Basically I downloaded and installed custom content in the form of nail polish.  I assumed at the time these polish files did not replace the glasses.  I didn't actually go in and check as I don't really change the glasses on sims very much.  However I just recently decided to change the glasses for one of the Curious Brothers, when the glasses menu came up there were heads with the asterick on them with the nail polishes, but no glasses, so I exited and did not save.

I then took out the files for the nail polish and went back into the game. When I went back to the glasses section there were no glasses at all, just the other expansion accessories.  I searched here and found the other glasses problems and replaced all the Sims00, etc packages from the disks and also the object package for Season's in case that might have changed.  That did not bring the glasses back.   Huh

I went into Body Shop and checked there and the glasses are all there, however they are all marked with astericks as if they were custom content.  I went back into the game again and no glasses there.  Sad

So I am at a loss of how to regain back the glass, of course any and all suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Thank you

42  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Can't Greet Visiting Child Sims on: 2007 June 02, 00:37:45
I did a search and only found a couple of topics relating to this, one being the following:

http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php/topic,4995.0.html

However, I do not have BUY or the rolls in my game, so it can't be the same issue, I do have mostly hacks/mods from the FFS package and a few others.

It is only happening with child sims at the moment, The Ramirez's lot and a downloaded lot where I moved in the Ramaswami's.  The first few times there was no problem with my child sims greeting other child sims, but then the next time, I would click the visiting sim and I would get the menu and option to "Greet so and so".   My sim would go up to the other sim, but the que drops out and no matter how many times I try to greet, the action fails.  Now when the adult sim brings the child with them, my sims can greet everyone and everyone comes in.

I realize it's probably a hack, but just curious as to which kind of hack could do that?

PS.   I have all expansion packs and just the glamour stuff pack.

heh heh, no Daemon Tools or hiders here and definitely not Vista! LOL (definitely waiting a few years for that one)

I am checking out this link I found at MTS2, it kinda seems like the same type of problem, but I'll try it anyways!  Wink

http://www.modthesims2.com/article.php?p=614290

EDIT*  so yeah, I'm just a total idiot today, must be the new computer, its made my brain mush, I guess installing the game with the internet running JUST DOESN'T WORK, well not for me anyways!! Roll Eyes

As soon as I unhooked from the internet, the patch worked just fine!! that's my DUH for the day, thanks for your help Jordi!! Cheesy
44  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Can't patch original Sims2 game :( on: 2007 April 29, 21:08:31
thanks for replying Jordi!

right clicking on Sims2.exe shows the version as 1.0.0.932, there is no TS2UPDO.exe in the TSBin folder.

I figure its not patched b/c when I try to install University, the "checking if updated" option comes up and asks for Disk 4 of the base game.  this is the point where it I click OK and both dialogue boxes disappear and the university uninstalls.  So it won't even let me install university without the patch!! grrr

is there anything about a new system that might interfer with installing these patches?
45  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Can't patch original Sims2 game :( on: 2007 April 29, 20:16:10
So I got my new computer, installed my video card, updated driver to latest version.  Installed The Sims2 base game, went into the game, everything is fine.

However, I tried to apply the patch and when it asks for Disk 4, I put it in and nothing happens, the dialogue box just disappears and the game won't patch.

I have tried many different things, checked my dxdiag, re-downloaded the patch for the base game, nothing.  I tried installing university but when it says its gonna check to see if my game is updated, again it asks for Disk 4, I put it in, click OK, but then all dialogue boxes disappear and university uninstalls.

Any suggestions?  I am sooo at my wits ends and help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I would love to see what that cheat can do, if its not too much trouble Hook, could you post exactly what you did in the Lights.txt file with the minus signs?

Thanks

Wow, thanks seelindarun, I guess I should have done a proper search!  Embarrassed   I am so glad its just not me though!! Wink

Its soo funny thou (strange funny), this is the very first time I ever experienced this situation.  I have been playing Sims2 since it came out and I played with NL in my game since it came out, and none of my playable sims ever had that problem.  Guess I've been very lucky, eh?  Cheesy

I will definitely try out the delete character solution and maybe even install this famous Macrotastics as the endless clicking and directing sims in the same routine is getting a bit old!! LOL

Thanks again!!  Grin
48  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Alexandra O'Mackey can't clean up dishes? on: 2007 April 07, 16:04:05
I have moved Alexandra into the lot where Patricia and Cleo lived, and she was able to clear her own plates at the time, now for some reason, there is no option when I hover my mouse over the plates.  I moved in David Ottomas and he can clear the plates no problem.  I have the ffs lot debugger in my game and used that to see if there were any errors or "fix" options, but none showed up.

I only have the base game and Seasons, most of my hacks are from the Director's Cut and a couple of others I have used in Seasons for a while now.  If you need a list, I can provide that if necessary.

Any suggestions would be most appreciated, thanks!  Smiley
49  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: How do you play your Plant Sims? on: 2007 April 06, 23:52:29
WOW, that's an excellent idea MoonDragoness!  That is the problem I have run into too, they are just too easy to play!  I know however, that they can be put to good use.  I also started the painting thing too, Rose can paint almost forever, between talking and tending plants and those lamps are great for the nightime.

Atom_Bunny, you are already in 3rd generation from playing Seasons, wow!  I am sooo slow at the game, I am still weeks away from the 2nd generation! LOL . . . The slave thing is a great option too!
50  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / How do you play your Plant Sims? on: 2007 April 06, 22:43:11
So I've got Rose and her daughter Daisy (grown up now) and I had Rose spawn another Plant baby.  I am trying to decide what I should do with these plant sims if I keep spawning them, although  I probably shouldn't spawn too many as they will bloat my game.  Cheesy

So I just want to find out what and how other players are using this new feature to their advantage?

All suggestions are appreciated of course!  Grin
