76  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / I Can Has Ceiling Tiles? on: 2008 October 15, 12:01:11
I no can has.  Dumb cwieberdinkly people have been unable to figure out exactly how to get the ceilings to place.

Can someone totally awesome show me a screenshot of the camera angle necessary to get the ceiling placed?  Does a grid show up?  Is there a way to ceiling an entire room at once?  (I"ve read there is, but I haven't been able to get the camera to look at the ceiling to try and place it.)
77  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Watch Me Make This Cheat Box Disappear! on: 2008 October 12, 15:11:05
I figured it out.  If you have an HP computer watch for a stupid program called "HP Health Check"  It uses the ctrl+shift+C to open itself.  You have to change its shortcut to "none" and then the cheat box will reappear.
78  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Watch Me Make This Cheat Box Disappear! on: 2008 October 12, 14:37:06
I have no cheat box.  Ctrl+shift+c does nothing.  No cheat box opens.

I at first suspected tight pants, so removed my entire d/l folder to desktop.  Nada.

Then I tried removing my userstartupcheat file.  Nope.

Tried opening a new, clean hood.  Nothing.

I have an HP Pavillion entertainment laptop running Vista home premium.

I have all SPs and EPs.  I do not have suckrom.

I tried playing last night and got an odd error about a walkby being out of range.  Will attach the error log if anyone thinks it's relevant.

If you encounter a tribe of Kewhales, on the other hand, break out the harpoons! I got an announcement I was being raided by the Kewhale tribe, so I equipped my entire tribe with throwing harpoons and met the slowly moving whales in the field (being beached whales, they move painfully slowly), where they came at me with their axes gripped in their baleen. I ordered my dudes to hurl their harpoons at it, and pretty soon all the Kewhales were dead on the field with multiple harpoons sticking out of them. It was awesome. They never even touched me.

I'm not usually a Kewhale harpooner, but this is freakin' hilarious and I can totally see you doing this.   Cheesy

Since this is NOT a challenge creature, here is a Cwieberdink for your gaming pleasure.

I d/l the FOJ's creature pack and fired up the game tonight.  Shortly after migrating to my new nest in creature, I came across, and allied with, a Rogue Buttolino.  I now have a ginormous purple creature as part of my pack.   Cheesy

I do not wear pieces of flair, and never did. Ew. They hang lovingly on my wall. I used to cover my hemp purse with them but I lost many good buttons that way. *Admits that she had to look up "pieces of flair" because she has never seen Office Space. Hides in shame*

Hehe. It's okay.  I have it on the brain cuz we just watched Office Space last night.

Just like Jsalemi, I was shocked and surprised the first time my creature swam out in the water and got NOMmed by a huge creature from the deep.  I think I yelled "OH!"  when it happened.  LOL
88  Serious Business / Spore Discussions / Re: Lest we forget: SPORE on: 2008 September 15, 17:10:46
Ste I'm also having trouble seeing other people's creatures that I've downloaded.  I opened up the sporepedia in game, dragged the .png to the window.  It shuffled the thumbnails like it was adding them, but I can't find them back in game now.  Where did they go?  when I try to sort them by creator, I get nada.  sorting by name gets only those few maxis ones.  It shows on the left side that there are some thousands of creatures, but I can only see a handful.
89  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Family adopted back their seized toddler? on: 2008 September 09, 22:24:55
The time it takes to Study Parenting is seriously disproportionate to the benefits. And though it doesn't function this way, what I believe cwieberdink was saying - and if it was, I agree

It was.....

Quote
(and if it wasn't, I'm glad I thought of it ;p) - is that this otherwise inefficient use of a sim's time would be well suited to a Social Worker scenario. If children are removed from the home, the parent(s) could be required to complete Study Parenting before the child is returned. To further flesh out this scenario, there could be a Headmaster-like stage where the Social Worker returns to rate the Environment and food prep abilities, and if the family passes this inspection and has successfully Studied Parenting, the child/children would then be returned.

I actually think this sort of scenario should have been implemented in the base game in order for any prospective parent to adopt a child. Adopting a baby (toddler, child, etc.) should involve at least a *little* more hoopla than ordering a pizza.

But I love your fleshed out idea!!  that would be an excellent use of the study parenting, and much closer to real life social worker scenarios.  And that way, if the social worker comes, either before an adoption, or to assess the home for return of a taken child/ren, if there are roaches, trash, rotting food and dirty nappies everywhere, well, they wouldn't get their kid.

Oh, hai!  What's goin on in dis thread?  Oh!  A poll.  I liek pollz.

I voted for my five faves, but there are still a couple others I'd love to see.
91  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Family adopted back their seized toddler? on: 2008 September 09, 13:00:51
I've tried adopting right after the social worker took away the kids, and got the message that I'm a bad parent and adoption is not available for me, or something like that. After waiting a couple of sim days, they were able to adopt again.

this is veering in a slightly different direction from the OPs question, but this might be a good place to use the study...parenting (which as far as I can tell does nothing else).  If seasons is installed (that's the one with study parenting, right?) then the people must study parenting in order to be allowed to adopt again if the social worker has removed a child.

My torrent is only at 11%. *WHIIINE*

I want to play this game more and more every time I read this thread. Cheesy

Yea, mine's only around 13%, and I've been downloading it on and off for two days now.  Probably at least 20 solid hours of downloads (I have to pause it if I want to do anything else on the net...).  At this rate I should have it by next weekend...

Twilight Torrents FTW!  Seriously, I got the d/l in about 5 hours total.

I purchased my nobility and am waiting to be titled.
95  Serious Business / Spore Discussions / Re: Lest we forget: SPORE on: 2008 September 05, 20:50:16
I've played the cell stage twice and neither time could I find the omnivore jaw!  I got all the parts except that one.
96  Serious Business / Spore Discussions / Re: Lest we forget: SPORE on: 2008 September 05, 15:01:41
Well, now after having made it to the tribal stage, I'm getting sick of it.  It is like JM says, just too much violence.  There is no way to avoid it and it gets tedious after a while.  The creature creator was fun for the first few plays, but I'm sick of that now too.  Back to Sims!
97  Serious Business / Spore Discussions / Re: Lest we forget: SPORE on: 2008 September 04, 18:54:48
You mean Didgeridoos?
(No, I have nothing of value to say beyond that.)
Yes. However, that word is hard for me to say. It is going to remain digger-whattas.

Midnight Voyager, a lot of my creations I have are like that. I haven't actually played them, though. I have a few that closely resemble frogs, and one that has these huge tentacles from its head that make it look like some sort of bush/octopus hybrid. It's so pretty when it hops around and the tentacles spin. Under the tentacles, however, is hidden a tiny creature with two of the highest bite-rated mouths and loads of spikes.

We should start a creature swap!
98  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Sim about to meet self: did I broke it? on: 2008 September 03, 17:08:22
It can't be good.    Sad
99  Serious Business / Spore Discussions / Re: Lest we forget: SPORE on: 2008 September 03, 16:13:39
Really? I finished this morning, just shy of three hours ago.

So far so good, though I didn't have much time to play before I had to get to work. I'm at early creature stage. I got the Pacifist label after the cellular stage as I didn't attack anything. This is mostly because I didn't know how to. My doo-hickey had a solid "Run Awaaaay!"  Movies are absolute cuteness.

My torrent -should- finish sometime this evening. I checked before I left for work and it was still going on strong, around 100MB transfer rate. I... well, I ordered it, but I'm terribly impatient, so I'm going to get in some offline play before it gets here next Tuesday. (Who releases a game on Sunday? That's one more day that people who ordered it online can't have it. Jerks.)

Hmm.  When I click the torrent link, (and I've tried  both private and public trackers), it says "The system cannot find the file specified" and nothing happens.

edited to fix stupid errors.  Edited again:  NM.  It finally worked on about the 10th try.  But private trackers rule!  I'm getting speeds topping out at 400 kB/s

Faizah, save your time.  The torrent is down at this moment.
