1  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Stopping the plague of the perma-plat? on: 2011 February 09, 21:28:33
I think I had a shiny to reduce the impact of perma-plat in general, but Fat Gwilly People never asked.

That sounds like a useful shiny, though. /hint.

Well, there is this thread found at the very top of the first page in Peasantry with this new hack that's got its name right there in the thread title.

And I do believe one of Pescado's hacks makes them go permaplat a lot later, rather than two minutes after reaching adulthood.

Oh, thank you very much, found and downloaded! Now I can save my sims from platinum coloured death of boredom.
2  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Stopping the plague of the perma-plat? on: 2011 February 09, 14:47:23
Not quite sure if I'm posting this in the right place, anyway-- is there any mod that makes the game stop rewarding the additional points that came with Freetime?

I'm annoyed with every damn Sim becoming perma-plat forever. It's boring and they did NOTHING to earn their perma-plat anyway. :/
So, is there any possibility to stop that? Help would be appreciated.
3  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Still planing with TS2 anyone ? on: 2010 July 01, 04:01:11
I have both, though only play TS2 regularly. I'm finally, finally, finally invested in it and the neighbourhood! Which took me long enough, really.

Now, I also do miss a few features TS3 has when I play TS2, but I seem to tire of TS3 so much quicker and it didn't manage so far to make me care about it/its sims.

[...] and there seem to be significantly fewer ways to modify it, particularly since there can only be one core mod and story-progression mod, rather than a lot of interchangeable parts as in TS2. [...]

Also, my TS3 is so far behind on patches at this point that I don't even know how I'm ever going to get it up to date.

Exactly. On both accounts.
4  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Related To Her HUSBAND? on: 2009 July 18, 16:21:16
I'm pretty sure they should have the family icon there anyway, since once married, they are family.

I get the icon too, but there's no option for the Family Kiss, just the romantic interactions. Could also be a hack, I guess, I think I've seen one that adds it.

Nope, no pattern. And before I even ran the game, I downloaded some clothes, but it didn't start crashing until a week later, so I don't suspect downloads. I've got the most recent Awesomeware.

But have you actually tried it? Taking your downloads folder, the savedsims folder and (if you have it) the CEP folder out for a while, then deleting the cache files?
5  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Related To Her HUSBAND? on: 2009 July 18, 01:37:43
I do not know why the game accidently made them related, but you can fix this easily enough in SimPe. I'd be more worried about the crashing.  Tongue  Did you make sure you use the hacks from the seasons category? And does the game still crash when you remove your whole downloads folder?

Also, is there a pattern to these crashes (like, always crashing when you use certain commands or something)?
6  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Is there a way to stop the *grrr* boring music? on: 2009 July 14, 02:43:33
I think the OP was talking about the little tunes for finishing a repair job, completing a painting, first kiss, fulfilling a want bla bla. Those don't go away if you shut music off, I think they can only be muted if you mute all the audio.

I know, that's why I suggested it. It's a bit stupid, having multiple buttons for stuff and then leaving out an option like this. I wish it could be turned off, I get a headache from all these chirping noises. Myself, I just plug my audio boxes in when I specifically want to hear something (like a sim playing guitar), otherwise I leave them plugged out. At least I get rid of the chirping this way, but I totally agree with you, the switching is damn aggravating.
7  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Is there a way to stop the *grrr* boring music? on: 2009 July 14, 00:06:31
Can't you just disable the audio options on your computer while you're playing, if it's so annoying?
8  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Apocalypse! How many are left? on: 2009 July 11, 02:45:50
At the moment, I have both installed. I'm far from having finished exploring TS3, which I'm more enjoying than I thought I would, but I got the game for exactly three reasons: the Create-a-Style tool, the body shape sliders and the character traits. Nice features to play around with, though it's definitely not enough to compete with my established TS2 neighbourhood.
If I could choose, I'd have TS2 with the three features mentioned above, heh.

But as it is, I think after I'm done exploring, I will mostly stick to TS2, while only occasionally playing TS3. There are a couple of nice features/details to not entirely give up on the latter, but I do prefer the former, because I feel like I have much more control over things there.

As I'm the type who still plays Alpha Centauri, which is totally the cutest game ever, I think TS2 will stay with me for a while longer.
9  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Object Error while kids getting off school bus on: 2009 July 04, 16:55:41
I had the kitten killer for more than a year before I took it out and the four issues I encountered in that time had nothing to do with it. In fact, I think I never had any problems whatsoever with the kitten killer, so it could be something else entirely. You won't find out until you test it. Wink
10  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Object Error while kids getting off school bus on: 2009 July 03, 22:31:41
Wouldn't it be a lot easier to figure out which of your downloads is at fault to resolve the issue, instead of dancing around it and letting the annoyance persist?
11  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Gunmod's Radiance Light System 2.4 on: 2009 July 03, 17:59:40
Reporting back now with a complete new graphic card - and it finally works! Kiss Heh.

By the way, my old one was an ATI 9200SE. I still don't know why it didn't work; it should have, but at least the culprit is known now and it resolved itself with the new one.
12  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: study parenting write a novel on: 2009 July 02, 09:59:06
I know writing a novel isn't broken, but there is no meter to say how close they are to being done, while writing it and the same for parenting and I'm sure other studies as well.
It seems it is taking for ever for my Sims to study parenting is it broken?  I have several Sims studying all the time for parenting.  I even started to have them study for it in collage and now they are having babies and their babies are aging to tots.  None of my 30 Sims I have created have earned a study for parenting badge yet. You know what I mean.
I know you have created a meter once before in the early stages of the Sims 2 for creative writing.  Have you thought of making a few more? Is it me or is it broken?

i guess, with no one else mentioning this issue. I guess it must be me who is experiencing the study for parenting is not working, perhaps its cause i have installed all the updates from maxis to fully update my game it in turned broke it

Have you tried to take out all your downloads and delete the cache?
A meter to see the progress for parenting does exist and shows up in my game with no problems. It takes long to complete it, but it can be done - so maybe you have a conflicting hack or something.

Normally you indeed cannot see the meter for novel writing, but the upgraded version of Monique's Computer will tell you the percentage.

13  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Exporting full sims - Ingame sims don't want to be packaged properly on: 2009 June 14, 14:49:58
*reads through tutorial* Ah, that explains it! Thank you. It works now as it should. Cheesy
14  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Exporting full sims - Ingame sims don't want to be packaged properly on: 2009 June 14, 14:24:54

I got myself all confused again and can't figure it out. I searched for an answer, but maybe in the wrong places, because I got none. Or it's totally obvious. I don't know.

When I export a saved Bodyshop-sim, it gets saved as .Sims2Pack and Clean Installer shows the included packages. Everything's good so far.
But when I extract a sim from the game with SimPe, put it into Bodyshop and make a .Sims2Pack, it gets weird: Clean Installer shows only one package, which is practically the cloned character package (something like N001_User00051, for example).

So, am I simply doing something wrong? How do I get it to only include the seperate packages, not the whole character file? I know it has to work somehow.

Help would be greatly appreciated.
15  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: More Awful than You April: Broken Shit on: 2009 April 25, 22:49:44
I had that same thing happen to one of my sims!  I did a binary search until I figured out which skin was borked.  It didn't have have a real name, just a jumble of letters/numbers.

I'm pretty sure I already deleted the skin, so it was even more annoying. It wouldn't even go away when I took my whole downloads folder out! I finally changed the skin ingame with SimPE, but I'm still paranoid that it's lurking somewhere despite being supposed to be long deleted.
16  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: More Awful than You April: Broken Shit on: 2009 April 09, 23:45:21
That apparently happens with a lot of custom beds, even though they seem beautiful in the previews. The body merging is so hideous, all distorted.

The bed looks like it's the one from this simsinparis set - I had that one and just had to delete the loveseat, because that thing was eating the sims' feet like this:

--

Edit:
I noticed another thing; this is a [female!] sim I downloaded, because she's made after a character.

Then she steps out of the shower and it's like she had a gender change in there:

But it gets worse! I noticed that strange thing under her head - turns out, she has a giant neck gape:

WTF. Really, wtf. I have to delete this skin somehow.
17  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Getting constant errors on my sims -- what's outdated? on: 2009 April 04, 16:50:34
"something''' ?  As in.. anything? <sigh> You are telling me I have to do the ol' removing staggered bits of hacks until I isolate which one is the culprit, I suppose.  Could it me an object rather than a hack?

If you have all objects/hacks in one place, it's easy enough to find that out, isn't it?
18  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Gunmod's Radiance Light System 2.3 beta 2 on: 2009 March 21, 18:50:15
Sorry for the delayed answer, real live sort of ate me.

So, first: Yay! And welcome back, Gunmod!

Second: This time I added the files manually, but I was right: The names of the main folders are different ("The Sims Freetime", etc.), the other folders (such as "Res" or "Lights") are exactly the same. It couldn't have been the issue - the problem still persists after I did it like that. I've not tried the SCRIPTORIUM yet, but if all it does is installing the files in the right place, then the outcome probably won't be different.

And I just realised I forgot to tell you: It also explodes certain objects - like this - mostly telephones, but random other things too, like for example some bushes or the boxing exercise career reward. It's not a new issue, I just totally forgot about it, because the circles were so annoying.

Still got an idea? If not, I fear it's hopeless. The light itself is lovely, I do not understand why it seems to hate me so.  Cry
Anyway, thanks so much for your effort, dDefinder, I really appreciate it.
19  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Gunmod's Radiance Light System 2.3 beta 2 on: 2009 March 02, 18:49:11
*goes to look at download folder* I don't have another mod that effects light, I'm very, very sure of that. I tried a few month ago already, but as I had the kittenkiller installed, I just thought that one was messing with the mod, but I've gotten rid of it in the meantime, so that's out.

Ah, the only thing I can think of is, that I had to rename the folders (for example: "The Sims freetime" to its equivalent in my language), because I was afraid the game wouldn't find the game files otherwise. It looked like the other folders were named the same, only the main folders' name were different. Or maybe I missed one there and the game doesn't recognise it now? But I don't really think that's it, because the changed light was showing, I mean, it worked, apart from the circles. On the other side, it would explain why only I had that strange problem.
20  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Gunmod's Radiance Light System 2.3 beta 2 on: 2009 March 01, 16:30:44
It's the right userstartup.cheats, I think - I didn't change anything in it before, only added
boolProp testingCheatsEnabled true and boolProp allow45DegreeAngleOfRotation true, but surely these two won't produce these strange circles?

I've changed it to false now, and loaded the game, but it didn't seem to be doing anything. The two in the test lot still had these circles. *argh*

Yesterday I thought, maybe it was the CEP (and it said somewhere, that is should be installed after the Gunmod Radiance Light mod), but that didn't do anything either.
21  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Gunmod's Radiance Light System 2.3 beta 2 on: 2009 February 28, 12:38:12
I'm very sorry about the necromancy, but I'm at my wits' end. What I can see of the mod in my game looks lovely and I want it badly. Would make the game so much better! - If it weren't for this strange thing:

Wtf? Some sims get these half-visible yellow circles (which also completly screw the graphics over, when the sim moves), some don't. It's not even lot-related. On this lot I had four sims without it and these two with it.

I already removed my whole download-folder (considering the picture, that's evident) and deleted the groups/cigen/accessory caches, but that changed nothing.

It's obviously related to this mod, since it vanishes, when I take it out and comes back, when I try again. Is there something I can do about it? Pretty please? I'd love to use it.
22  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: How to get rid of SecuRom, NOW on: 2009 February 06, 14:52:21

My game is a German version (patched FT). Would an English no-cd crack still work for me? Because I have a hard time finding it in German.  Cry
23  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: Macro Control: Macrotastics on: 2009 February 06, 03:21:12
*delurks*

I redownloaded the macrotastics only a few hours ago from the FT directory (don't have AL), while I was updating my hacks. I loved quite a few options on it in the past (which always worked as intended), but hadn't used other options at all yet.

So I tried to tell my sim to macro > hobbinate > Arts - which I never tried before - and expected him to do something arts related. Instead he went to the phone and phoned random friends up (It showed "Interacton > Call" or something like that in the queue, followed by the hobbinate arts icon.) acting like he got the command Call > friends.

*very confused now* Is it supposed to do that, or am I doing something wrong?
