1  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: CC in use. What can be removed without exploding stuff? on: 2009 May 02, 01:51:42
Perhaps a nutty idea, but, if one were desperate enough, one could:
  • Back up your hoods, y'know just in case
  • Package each lot from their hood, plus its simmies
  • Put their neighborhood somewhere safe
  • Let the game regenerate its neighborhood files
  • Unpack everything with clean installer, ditching the lot and sim files
  • Snag the unpacked files
  • Chuck the new 'hoods
  • Extract original download file, put it someplace safe
  • Replace with snagged files
  • Put the whole works into play
  • Cry for lost time/ Cheer for something working, you choose

In theory, it could work, but I'm not desperate enough to test it. I'm sure Pes, or some other savvy individual will find the gaps in my logic, but yeah, there it is.

Thinking on the OP's Santaland idea: It would take something serious, with the vast probability of being damaging, but imagine digging up a map to Santaland! Meet the big guy, secret lot-style. If you could charm the old bastard into thinking that your good, he gives you a nice gift, accompanied by the CS cauldron dancing penguin-party; if you can't convince him, a flaming bag-o-poo and a motive hit. Hmmm...
Penguins are from the South Pole.

To be more geographically correct, perhaps a polar bear attack would be more appropriate? Give Bigfoot a furrier, white skin and let the pain begin? Could work, if the idea was sound to begin with.
A polar bear attack while visiting Santa seems more like something this community would embrace.

It cures the plague, any plague, apparently instantly.

And that makes me sad.
I would love an aspiration backfire on that damn soup. MOAR PLAGUE! MOAR DEATH!

For serious? Farking Eaxis texts said they were supposed to be relaxing. I wonder if there's any use in doing it. *meanders*
Thanks, I will try it out!

One of my simmies with a child-aged spawn rolled a read kid to sleep, or some such nonsense want. I had the spawn relax on the bed, selected the adult, clicked on an AL bookcase- no relevant options, clicked on the kid- nothing, clicked on the adult- nothing. How the hell is this supposed to work, or is it perhaps borkination?
I hadn't heard about this from anyone else, so until it was rolled, I had no clue it was even in there. My game configuration hasn't changed since whenever AL came out. Suggestions? Lewd comments? Pointing and laughing?

Wait, you WANT tourists?
Borkination may indeed be a win.
8  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: What's on YOUR Wish List? on: 2008 August 11, 21:52:09
Perhaps, but a person less SimPe-impaired would know where the heck to look for such a thing, and perhaps have tweaked the hell out of the object, themselves; probably would have tweaked the available abortion pills, as well. Wink
9  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: What's on YOUR Wish List? on: 2008 August 11, 07:13:12
I wish for death via suicide. Katy actually did an object-based hack for me, for my asylum-challenge, but neutered it by making it non-autonomous. My original parameters were 25% if the following conditions were met: level 2 aspiration desperation, -50 social, -50 environment, for ages teen and up, 'cause 12's can do it, too! Alas non-autonomy was so lame, so were I to want to to work, I would have to click on this fish plus knife- thingy and direct them to commit suicide. 'Wonder what the response would have been to the other part of the request *grins evilly*. Though irrelevant Tongue  as the finished product in my hands-off asylum, I wondered if one could attempt to influence a sim to commit suicide. If they met the criteria and had a +80 STR and +60 LTR or better,  the sim could try with 25% success if accepted, but a 100/100 drop in STR and LTR, and furious, if rejected. 'Cause really, anyone who advises you to kill yourself is ripe for a beat-down.
The other wish I had was none too sweet, either. *shrugs* I wish for Abortion Plus- plus memories good and bad accordingly, 50 hours of significant comfort, social and energy decline, possibly nightmares, with a reduced chance of further pregnancy, family sims' impregnators take a relationship hit, and oh yeah!- prone to influence! Should influence go sour? Bottoming out the relationship entirely to "Break Up."
The possibilities for reality evil are there!
Bwahahahahahahahahah!
10  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: You could meet Pescado in a dark alley with a suitcase full of cash, or... on: 2008 August 10, 23:21:23
It couldn't hurt to set up a PO box; less risky than meeting Pescado in the dark alley, anyway. Almost every penny goes to the cause.
Setting up a Cafe Press account couldn't hurt. Who doesn't love receiving a check without having to exert anything more than initial effort? Who isn't imagining their mom in  a MOAR FIGHT t-shirt? But as a primary source of funds? Too much cash diverted into the wrong pocket.
11  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Game will not load on: 2008 June 28, 11:11:46
BLARGH!
This sounds familiar.
Last night I was reinstalling it, again, and got a little too casual about the whole damn thing. Forgot to take out my collections, downloads and neighborhoods. While I'm not as fussed about the hoods, 'cause they were on their way to 'Splodey-ville, anyway (a slow road, but headed right for there) I lost a bunch of recent acquisitions and just made collections. Woe the dial-up recovery of goodness and damn the damaged header file..  Angry
At least I'm not alone in my strife and I know that there is a better way. Yay!  Wink

What is the lesson?
  • Check the boards for awesome answers to asinine airheadedness, before making it worse and compounding the evil.
  • Back up anything you care about. Often.
  • Don't swim in the deep end fueled on caffeine and irritation.
  • Avoid living anywhere that delivers paper mail faster than electronic mail.

Insane curiosity has lead me to find out what a Carla Nevins was. I'll take the cockroaches.

"A person who is allergic to consuming shellfish is also likely to have an allergy to eating cockroaches."

From Chef Alton Brown of Food Network's Good Eats lobster and cockroaches are cousins on the classification of living things chart, they share kingdom, phylum and class. Schmexy, right? Eew!
14  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Get Over It, Already! on: 2007 March 18, 22:28:46
Disgusting but true, roaches make me cry. My simmies have user-directed OCD because of this. Even simulated roaches give me the creeps. I grew up in Detroit and my family inadvertently rented a house that had a problem. As soon as we moved in, we were looking for somewhere else to be. The Orkin man was our best friend for months. So when they cry about the roaches, I understand. Crying about the dead, who aren't schlepping around their houses and crunching underfoot at 3:00AM? GTFOI!

Jsalemi
Thank you so much for that evaluation of my reading comprehension, but as said before, it is new to my game, I have never had the problem prior to installing the hack, be it integrating into an occupied dorm or not. I was unaware that it was such a rampant thing in so many other peoples' games. As I have not had a problem with it, before, the logical step is to back it up and see if there's anything I can do to narrow down the problem. If I have a conflicting hack, I can work that out.
Thanks Again
Nadine

Thanks for hitting me back.
The want-fulfillment and stalking sibling issues are just new to my game, entirely.
I'm planning on sending kids to school, will disable the package, just to see if there's a change in want fulfillment. Maybe one of my non-awesome hacks are interfering.
17  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: No Telepathy on: 2007 March 17, 10:24:29
I've also encountered the adults and teens inheriting, but there was no memory of the sim dying.
There was a sim died on a secret society lot, but people are calling his parent's house, looking for him.
The parents of a college student don't have want fulfillment of the student going to college.

Any thoughts?
18  TS2: Burnination / Taster's Choice / Re: Testers wanted: Color Binning Tool 0.2.25.1 on: 2006 July 13, 21:21:39
Hi, I'm new to MATY. (Why did I feel like I was at an virtual AA meeting, when I was typing that?  Tongue) Anyway, this is the most ambitious project I've EVER attempted (SimPE frightens me a little... well maybe a lot, and the mere thought of code makes my hade tremble.), and all is going swimmingly! My custom color bin was annoyingly packed with things that should be binned. Now, rather than grumbling about it,and clean that crap up.  Grin
Thanks for clear directions and an awesome tool.  Cheesy
