Title: my toddler thinks he's a baby and sims can't interact with him
Post by: raccoon on 2008 January 03, 21:18:50
It's always nice to have totally new errors. (New to me, at least.)

My toddler was normal for few in-game days and now he thinks he'a a baby. He lays on his back and sounds like a baby, but my other Sims can't interact with him. Those cuddle, play and hold options do show up, but then comes an error log. I have tried deleting the baby and then going to neighbourhood and back, but it didn't help. I also moved the family out and to another lot.

I have only the base game and I haven't got any new hacks for a while.

Do you have the lot debugger?  If so, do you have the option to fix their age?

I have the lot debugger, but I don't find an option to fix age.  And shouldn't I need to select it with the baby/toddler? Because I can't choose him to play with.

Try dropping a stuck object remover on him and doing the save/exit to see if it respawns by the mailbox.

Make him selectable with boolprop testingcheatsenabled true (Shift-click on baby, MAKE SELECTABLE) when you don't want him selectable any more do the same thing but make sure a different sim is the selected sim or the option won't appear. I don't think you need to make it selectable anyway though. Worth a try I suppose.

Absolutely nothing helps. The stuck objects remover makes him disappear, but the problem stays when I open the game again. With boolprop testingcheats... I can make him selectable and choose the debugger's age body, but it does nothing.  :-\

This might seem an odd suggestion, but it's worked for me on glitched toddlers... and children... and adults that still think they're preggers after popping the kid....

*ahem* ANYWAY... try "boolprop moveobjects on" and delete - yes, DELETE - the kid. Save the game and exit the lot. Log back into the lot. He should be respawned at the mailbox and (hopefully) fixed.

kattan: I tried that and it's still not working.

I guess I just have to delete the family.

You can fix the kid with SimPe. Use it to reset it's age to toddler. If it still gives an error after that, then it's a bigger problem then an age set back and the kid should be terminated.

IF you delete the family, be sure to do it the right way (http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php/topic,6205.0.html)! That or use InSimenator's Grow Up or Grow Baby Up option to mod the toddlerbaby into an adult and killit.

The game thinks the toddler is a baby. Babys have to have a sim to help them age transition. If their sims can't pick up the "baby" then this option does not work.

I had this problem with the Bella Goth that came with Pleasantview which I resurrected with SimPE. I'm pretty certain it was due to me messing up something due to not knowing what I was doing though.

In any case she reacted as a baby as well (which was ridiculously funny for a short time). I think I solved the problem by using 'set age' instead of 'grow up'. Maybe worth a try?

I second this. I had the same problem about a year ago and resetting the age to toddler in SimPE fixed it and I was able to play the kid normally.

No, it's because the Bella Goth that came with Pleasantview is missing most of the important character data, which is why she should never be resurrected. :)
