I had a problem like this before, and the solution turned out to be very simple. Apparently my cat had decided there wasn't enough room in front of my tower to lay, and gradually pushed it back until the wires were smashed up against the wall. When I tried to play any  it would shut down at random intervals, but when I noticed and pulled the tower away enough the problem stopped. Do a point-by-point check of all the simple possible problems before doing anything drastic like replacing parts.

I don't know what it may be, but I can say that it works on 7 for me. Are you putting it in your Documents or the Program Files? I had automatically associated .dbc with the DCC folder, which crashed my game until I noticed I was being stupid and moved it to the Mods/Packages folder.

I should not Sims before coffee.

Yes, the merchants not being gone has been fixed, but this was the character that gave me most of my Egypt quests, not a side sim used for a moment in one quest. A sim key to most of the quests in the region.

I have a somewhat related question: is there any negative effect to having a relationship with an adventure-related sim? I quite liked the idea of my sim with the one who was giving me most of my Egypt quests, but I was unsure if removing him from Egypt would break that, or if another sim would take his place. Logic leans towards the latter, but you never can tell with EAxis.

I believe JM meant using DOS-style names instead of the junction point, to fix the problem of the Resource.cfg not reading spaces.

Ah, ok. I had avoided that thread on account of the fact I thought it was all torrents. I guess I should have looked closer.

DOS! Now there's something I understand...

I agree on Witch's point that junction points are a little advanced for some (myself included). I understood everything about that except for that part; I don't mess with files much beyond the very, very basics- I have other people for that. Unfortunately, said person is on the other side of the country right now and likely too pissed to simplify this for me in anything resembling English.

If someone could explain junction points in small, simple words for n00bs like me, that would be great. I generally use Delphy's installer for .sims3packs, but it doesn't give me the .world file that I need for the Riverview fix, so I figured the Launcher would solve that problem... if the Launcher actually worked.

Great, my first post here has me looking like a total idiot. I hope this doesn't become routine.
