LOL I'm grinning like an idiot. How old is Pes again?
227  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Please change back the FAQ thread title! on: 2008 January 21, 11:40:02
Les Jenkins or something, if I remember correctly. So he IS Pescado? I thought it's only L&P...
228  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Please change back the FAQ thread title! on: 2008 January 21, 10:42:39
What about 'Pescado reveals his TRUE IDENTITY-pics included!' as a future thread title? Cheesy

*sigh* Knowing me, I'll be totally fooled and clicked Undecided

Why don't you just buy a custom built pc? You can choose the component and/or OS you want, cost less, and generally way more flexible. I hate branded pc Lips sealed

Because a). I have no idea what I could afford to skimp on and what I couldn't (WTF? How the hell should I know what kind of 'power source' I need?), and  b). it looks to STILL be too expensive as it seems it won't even come with an OS, and c). I'm also looking to buy from a place that can offer me full customer support if I need it.

Oh ok, but actually if you got it all figured out it's way easier and cheaper. Especially if you got some OS installation CDs, they're definitely come in handy Tongue

Regarding the drivers, I think you can obtain various drivers for XP from the net. I'm wondering though, any reason not to use Vista? I heard a lot of bad things about it, and some good things, and I actually have it installed on one of my PCs and it works just fine actually. I don't notice any slow down whatsoever.
230  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Is it possible to uninstall a patch ONLY? on: 2008 January 20, 07:46:01
System restore maybe? Or just like morriganrane said, manually replace the files, although I don't think it's worth the hassle. I'd reinstall the game instead.

He still slinks around trying feebly to twirl the tache, which is not there.

 Cheesy what a weirdo.

Ok thanks Wink

With almost 1.5 gb of custom content, my initial load screen is 35 seconds,to the 'hood is about 5 seconds (its sparse), to a lot is about 5-15 seconds depending on the size.
It helps to have a hard drive that can load (at least) 50 MB per second, apparently.

How do you check how fast your hard drive is?
235  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: The bork pool for L&P Sims 2 "Free Time / Hobbies / Numpty Crap" EP7 on: 2008 January 17, 14:46:46
Does EA Thailand count for anything?

Only if you live in Thailand. How else can you view the page?

Code:
		pageBGColor = '#000000';
if (page == 'register_07' || page == 'profile_07'){
if (countryID == 5){
pageHeight = 1647;
pageBGColor = '#C5CBC9';
}
}

 Huh I'm not in Thailand, and I can see the page just fine, including the text.

Are you sure? I'm sure I've tried that, also the single quotation marks too, and neither worked...
237  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Family funds cheat suddenly doesn't work on: 2008 January 14, 12:23:59
What bugging me about this familyfunds cheat is that you can't use it to a family with 2 words name. I believe one of the household in university have 2 words name and it wouldn't work on them Undecided
238  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: hidden stuff for preorders and other like things on: 2008 January 08, 14:34:53
Hmm, be careful though. Sims exclusives had stated previously that EA had been asking the sites which provide the preorder bonuses to stop sharing those, and had warned people not to post links on boards visited by some Maxoids or some EA employees Lips sealed
239  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: TS2 startup video freezes on: 2008 January 05, 05:14:36
Are you running the game in full screen? I play in full screen, and sometimes mine freezes like yours, but not for 10-15 minutes, more like 3-5 minutes, however, if I switch to desktop and then switch back to the game, it'll go to the loading screen almost immediately. I have no idea what causing it but it works for me Tongue

Santa doesn't like cookies. He likes people who use punctuation properly.

I'm going to take a guess here, but I don't think English is sasmi's native tounge.

i'm english silly but i'm dislexic sorry about my spelling  Grin

It's not about the spelling, it's about the punctuation and capitalization Undecided
241  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: How much RAM can my motherboard take? on: 2008 January 02, 12:58:01
Problem I have is that my PC is not connected to the intnet atm, so don't know how useful those progs would be without it?

Very useful, I believe. I just checked the pcwizard one and it doesn't required any internet connection, just download the app and transfer it to your pc through a usb flash drive or something. Decent app, thanks notovny Wink

Maybe you have Sticky keys enabled by any chance?

Fairlight did release the patched version of the crack.
244  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Nightlife Install Error on: 2007 December 27, 06:56:56
well if you wanna get it off torrent, you shouldn't worry too much. Most torrents (from certain sites) are pretty safe, just make sure you read the comments posted for that particular torrent, it they didn't have any problem I think it's safe to assume it's free from malware and/or viruses
245  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Nightlife Install Error on: 2007 December 27, 06:01:39
I think the disk is corrupted, I suggest trying to copy the whole content of the cd to your hard disk and try to install from there
246  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: "Windows has low virtual memory - increasing memory, applications denied" - on: 2007 December 23, 02:34:22
Also, this would be a good time to Defrag.

Also, kill explorer as well. Explorer is a huge memory hog. Kill it before playing.

I've had a similar problem since BV. Suddenly 2GB of RAM isn't enough.

Hey, Sara, can you tell me what I do to kill Explorer? I tried once via task mgr, but I apparently ended the wrong process, because it wiped out everything, leaving only my wallpaper, and I had to reboot to access anything.

Actually you don't have to reboot, just select file --> new task, and type explorer, everything should come back Wink
247  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Missing base game graphics on: 2007 December 22, 02:49:10
I had that problem about a year ago, but it was the trees and clouds in the neighborhood screen that looks like that. Turned out it was a corrupted cd, I borrowed my friends' base game and it works just fine. Didn't know that you can get a replacement disk, I ended up buying the base game again Undecided
248  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: How to get rid of SecuRom, NOW on: 2007 December 20, 17:46:46
I remembered reading somewhere about somebody having the same problem as you. Can't remember how they resolved it though, maybe try to run as administrator?  Undecided
249  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: How to get rid of SecuRom, NOW on: 2007 December 20, 17:32:53
Because I renamed the original exe file to a bak file, it would not ask me to replace it. So therefore, I believe I have the correct directory. C:/Program Files/EA Games/The Sims 2/ The Sims 2 Bon Voyage/TSBin

If this is not the correct folder I do need to know the correct one.

Oh yeah, silly me. I didn't back up the original exe because I can always get it from the original cd. Anyway, it should be the right directory. I don't know what could cause the error. Have you tried to run it in compatibilty mode?
250  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: How to get rid of SecuRom, NOW on: 2007 December 20, 17:03:10
Works fine for me, with vista ultimate 32bit. Are you sure you put it in the right folder? It should asks permission to replace, if it didn't ask, then it's a wrong folder
