All your post did - giving it out with spaces was to get this site 7 cussing PM's frpm Boris about allowing that the link from you.

...You would think Boris would be busier with other things than checking to make sure absolutely no links to this site are posted at VS, much less taking the time to send ~7~ "cussing PM's".

The only thing I use SimPe for is to customize hair.  I don't touch sims or even use it to backup neighborhoods.  I'm just not that attached and routinely start neighborhoods over.

CRAP, have we been referring to the NIGHTLIFE objects.package?  Lips sealed I was talking about the original. Oops.

Why does it think my Sims2 file was CREATED in October 2005? I didn't think that was the install date?

Well, I can't say for sure when I installed the patch since I was out of town for a while and didn't install it until I was back. I suppose it's possible that the package was damaged--I can try recopying it and see if that helps.  If the objects.package WAS modified by the patch and I recopy it from the disk, I would need to reinstall the patch though, yes?

FWIW, I tried the badmouth interaction and sure enough, they are doing it then as well.  The candidate she has to badmouth is the burglar who made away with her mother's car.  When the interaction began--just before this image--she popped up a picture of the burglar, so she's obviously got a valid bubble to begin with.

I followed an excellent simplified tutorial by buffysmg81 at N99.
I take no credit for this! The original post can be found here: http://p218.ezboard.com/fstarlightsimsfrm62.showMessage?topicID=631.topic.

1. Open the file you want to recategorise in SimPE.
2. Click on "Property Set", then "Plugin View"
3. Click on each Property Set and find the line that says "Family". Change the value to "b52b9d28-7b62-4f41-bd88-fb382721db82" (no quotes) - just highlight what's already there and paste that over it. There will be about 5 or 6 Property Sets for each hairstyle and you need to do this for all of them.
4. Find the line that says "hairtone". Depending on what colour the hairstyle you're recategorising is, you'll need to enter one of 5 codes in the value box.

Black
00000001-0000-0000-0000-000000000000
Brown
00000002-0000-0000-0000-000000000000
Blonde
00000003-0000-0000-0000-000000000000
Red
00000004-0000-0000-0000-000000000000
Grey
00000005-0000-0000-0000-000000000000

Again, you need to do the same thing to all of the Property Sets, just like you did in Step 3.
One of the property sets of each hairstyle will be grey for the elders. You'll know which Property Set is for the elders because the line "name (dtString)" will list the colour as "grey", instead of the actual colour. When you find the elder Property Set for each style, just enter the code for grey instead of the regular colour.

5. Save.
108  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: How much is too much on: 2005 November 01, 12:22:20
I dumped all my downloads after NL came out.
I'm keeping a tight rein on new mesh objects and downloading Maxis recolors now for the most part. ATS, Holy Simoly, WDS and Windkeeper are the only ones I get pretty much anything they release. Otherwise I have to really adore it, and if poly/vertex count isn't posted I won't touch it.
Skins, I don't have THAT many--300 MB of my total.  I categorize hairs into their proper Maxis genetic as I get them. (I use SimPe; it's pretty easy.)

I'm back up to 1.1GB again and am satisfied with that. My game loads in about a minute, and it's about 20 seconds into a lot.  Grin
109  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: I got the dreaded squigly lines in thought bubbles on: 2005 November 01, 12:13:11
No. Too much work to type all of them out, so here's a screen of exactly which hacks I have.

Oh, and I don't download lots, and I routinely scan my folders with Clean Installer, so there aren't any lurking in a dark corner.

Mine is October 10, which I think is around the time I installed the patch. Did the patch modify the objects package?
111  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: I got the dreaded squigly lines in thought bubbles on: 2005 November 01, 03:04:08
Mine (as evidenced by above added image) is occuring as a regular thought bubble. I've seen it in "look out window", whatever that nanny is thinking of, and as gossip so far. Sad
112  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: I got the dreaded squigly lines in thought bubbles on: 2005 November 01, 02:38:10
I have.  This week.  In two separate brand new, shiny neighborhoods, post patch, all expansions, and nocorruptdeath installed.

I used 'deleteallcharacters' and spawned new ones with debug tree.

Incidentally, since these ARE shiny new neighborhoods, there have been no deaths, either.

I do not play with RC car.

Any more ideas on where I can look for this lovely bit of corruption?

Edited to add the image.

There are some nice teen male clothes here, as well as some other nice stuff:

Anyone remember PJ from SF? She has a site with some things for Sims2 now.

115  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Bug: Problem placing some objects out of inventory on: 2005 October 13, 19:02:29
Yes.  I think someone traced it to the object losing its shadow after it goes into inventory, which then breaks the object.  Kinda defeats the purpose of taking your objects with you to save money.  Roll Eyes

This NL thing of dealing to all 3 places at once is new.

Are you sure?  I swear when I was running a custom hood with notownieregen and nodormieregen that deleteall did just that--in both regular and uni neighborhoods, which is why I would connect a university before using the cheat so that I had no dormies interfering with my custom sims.  Huh

You are welcome, Witch.  (That sounds vaguely deragatory!  Cheesy)  I'm really not smart about technical stuff, but I've been reading and absorbing a lot of this crap since Sims2 came out.  Wink

Now, I believe that the RivaTuner applies only to the 6600 and upwards cards.  I'm not about to try to tell you how to overclock your card; mine came overclocked and I've no idea how to go about it.  Shocked

but the other man said that no matter what card you have,  NL will not let you have more than two people for a party.

Well, I just tested it with Brandi and Darren's wedding party, and was able to invite 8 guests.  Undecided  So I guess it's not a universal bug, and still does depend to some extent on the computer.
119  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Bump Mapping works with my Gforce 6800GT & Nightlife. on: 2005 September 30, 23:05:37
RivaTuner is here: http://www.guru3d.com/rivatuner/.

You only needed it for upper level GeForce cards, since the game evidently didn't realize that the cards are in fact capable of rendering bumpmaps.
120  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Bump Mapping works with my Gforce 6800GT & Nightlife. on: 2005 September 30, 20:57:45
If you don't get it by default, you can try first editing the GraphicsRules.sgr (it's in Program Files\EA Games\The Sims 2\TSData\Res\Config).

Scroll down until you see this line:

# disable shaders by default for NV3x generation, only enable for high end cards
if ($maxVertexProgramVersionHWMajor = 2)
boolProp useShaders false

Change "useShaders false" to useShaders true"

Keep scrolling down until you see this:

# since we don't do bumpmapping on less ps2.0-capable hardware, eliminate tangents
# from the vertex data
# also, the presence of per-vertex tangents in the vertex data stream causes
# "exploded" polygons on the Radeon 9000, even if the data is ignored by the shader
if ($maxPixelProgramVersionMajor < 2)
boolProp skipTangentsInVertexData true

Change "boolProp skip TangentsInVertexData true" to "boolProp skipTangentsInVertexData false"

Save file.  Note that the path is different if you have expansion packs installed.  You'll need to edit the GraphicsRules in the Config folder of your latest expansion pack.

I got my RAM from newegg.  I got two bundled 1 GB sticks for around $250, including shipping. For the same thing at Crucial, they want $320.  Undecided This is what I have: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820145491
As for video cards, I've never regretted my nVidia cards.  (I know, I know, Fords and Chevys Wink ) Around Christmas last year we bought the 6800 Ultra, also from newegg and I love it. Until NL, I did have to perform a workaround to see bumpmaps, but I hear that's fixed now.
Sound- the oldest thing in my case is my Audigy.  It's still ok, so haven't bothered upgrading it, but eventually I'll probably get a new Creative card.

I've upgraded several non uni sims to uni status via the lot debugger and have not had problems.

I've upgraded about 27 and have had no issues with it at all.  I've had no blank wants since before NL, and those were traceable to dumping uni sims into pre-uni houses. *Shrug*

Did you get Crammyboy's first driveway hack?  I think it had some strange bug involving the poker table which supposedly has been updated.  Not sure if your problem is related, but who knows?
