Title: Wormholes
Post by: photo on 2008 September 23, 15:08:14
Does anyone know if the wormholes spit you out at the same place every time... I can't seem to figure it out as I took a few before I went to bed last night but can't remember how many it was to get back to where I started. :) *prepares for sporking*

Yes, they return you to the same place.

I unlocked wormholes but how do I buy one or get one?

You do not buy them or get them - you will sometimes find a black hole, and, if you have the key, you can fly through it to get somewhere else. If I am not mistaken, black-hole generation is totally sadorandom.

Is it just my game, or do they appear more often as you get closer to the center of the galaxy?

I think that's as designed, considering that the galaxy in spore is pretty much based on real science.  The older stars would be closer to the core of the galaxy, and they'd be the ones to blow up and/or collapse first, so there would be more of them the closer you get to the center.

It's also partly a game mechanic to actually let you GET to the core, otherwise it would be a REALLY LONG TRIP.

I'm not sure how much real science is supposed to be in Spore, but if the galaxy is a model of our own, older stars aren't preferentially distributed near the centre.  Stars are born and die all the time, and actually black holes are formed from the most massive stars which have the shortest life cycle.  However, there are indeed more black holes toward the core not just due to the increased density of stars, but more importantly of mass.

The core is also a black hole, but apparently in Splotch, it isn't, so meh.

I noticed. x_X couldn't afford the Wormhole Key but I was trying to reach the Grox anyway... Bad idea.

Actually, it was a black hole.  It took you elsewhere and was clearly black hole-like.
