226  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: game run problems, with no saved data.. huh? on: 2008 January 13, 22:27:18
Didn't Securom come with H&M? Maybe the problems have something to do with this? Check sticky thread about how to remove Securom.
H&M is a Swedish chain of clothes stores, gone global. Name means Hennes (=Her, as in women's clothing) and Mauritz (a guy name, for their men's clothing), and was originally 2 clothing chains (Hennes and Mauritz) that merged and then got the name H&M. All Swedes grew up with them, its like IKEA (ok, maybe Wal-Mart or something) but for clothes for us.

Yes thank you so much for this, it works excellent. Now, to convince some awesome creator to make windmill wings without a mill, as a hood object? And all sorts of hood objects, for that matter, as they are sooo much more useful now Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy
228  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: Idea for a challenge -subsistence farming on: 2007 December 26, 20:32:02
On the farm animals theme: I use the ones made by Sims Mod Board, available I believe in sims2graveyard.com
Also not very pretty (I love your horses Dragon Slave!) but more useful than the pesky Simslice-ones. They can be slaughtered for meat, which either can be sold or put as groceries in the fridge. There are chickens too, that lay eggs. I also like SMB:s mill and the bee hives. Not so useful for this cruel challenge, but if you are into Sims farming..
229  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Lot Rezoning and seasons changing - issue post BV -solved on: 2007 December 21, 09:18:59
Ok, so to work around the BV issue with collections, I used rezoning. I start a lot as a residential lot, build my new home run restaurant/tailor/whatever, change to community to get the objects I need (podium, ect) and then I change back to residential. Move the family in. Everything works fine, but for one small detail: the season is stuck. Days go by, but season dont change.. like if the lot still was community. Did anyone else have this problem? Is there some fix?
(I use SimWardrobes Season changer to make them change now, but its annoying Tongue

I solved it this way: after building the lot, and before moving a sim in, move the lot to lot bin, then replace. Seasons work as the should.

Before I got the great Wardrobe Wrangler I had a set of eyes (Iced Mango, I believe) that was always ignored by Sims Enhancer. I did go through those eyes and changed the genetic numbers (you know, how dominant they are, with 1 as the highest and 5 as the lowest. Saved after that. And, voila, Sim Enhancer doesnt ignore them anymore. I have no clue what WW does - maybe it saves the file in a better way somehow. I did try and resaved some other stuff, just changing some detail, same result. The skintones also have numbers you can change, to show where on the scale they are, to make babies hat is born get one inbetween.
I still get some ignored files, but no eyes and no skins, just hairs I didnt have the time to find and resave with WW. I will, one day.
Did I say Wardrobe Wrangler is a great tool? It really is Cheesy
231  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: What do you have in your neighbourhood? on: 2007 December 20, 11:20:36
In my medieval hood I have: a church (owned community lot, with ticket machine = church tax Tongue) a pond for swimming (community lot, no owner) made as a swimmable lake (disguised pool), a winter pond with an invisible skating rink (community lot, no owner), a fishing pond (community lot, no owner), owned businesses: a wagon reseller, an orchard, veggie fields, a mine, a gypsy camp, with a camp fire and a fishing pond and a spa, a beach. Home businesses: a pub/restaurant, barber, tailor, baker, butcher (sells ready made turkeys among other stuff), grocery/veggie store, a witch with a small potion store. In the planning: honey farm/store, toy store, book store, prison, flower store, furniture store, fish market, apothekary..
There will be more churches also, and parks, and restaurants - both home owned and community ones.
232  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Stra-Fu#@!! TS2Ehn. on: 2007 December 20, 11:05:37
The issue with the genetics have been addressed by Rick - its the genetized/binned stuff that gives the error, and he wont change the program as he thinks that would be risky. I have noticed that when I rebinned the hairs with Wardrobe Wrangler, they didnt give that error anymore in SimEnhancer, same with eyes that I redid. If you just click ignore the program will work anyway, a little tedious of course if there is a lot of hairs binned the old fashioned way, but still.

For such a grumpy old man, you really have the cutest pet pics, Pescado Cheesy

236  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: [TUTORIAL] Customizing Christianlov's Custom Skintones Selector on: 2007 December 16, 03:04:58
I just want to point out that Christianlov made a tool with this function built in, here is the link:

Sim Community Drama is better than day time soaps or even prime time thrillers, at times. Broke his arm?? *Pictures quaxi kidnapped and gagged.
I just repeat what I have expressed before: you and Peter do an awesome thing. Furthermore, the source is open. If quaxi is alive and interested in this he will say so, I believe. Ignore all others.
238  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: BV: Anybody Updating These Abandoned Mods? on: 2007 December 05, 19:18:18
I just read in Christianlovs thread (where he posted his CLtool) at MTS2
http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=257487
that he is totally ok with anyone updating/developing his stuff. Just FYI all you clever awesome people.
239  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Crash on resized lots at 7PM -- any ideas? on: 2007 November 05, 16:55:48
Of course, the keyword is "playable" - maybe I will agree with you when I playtested the houses more. But its good even if you can make them for deco. Time will tell.
240  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Crash on resized lots at 7PM -- any ideas? on: 2007 November 05, 12:15:03
For me the risks involved are worth it. I am having a blast constructing houses that fit together, for the realistic look and to make playable small lots of all kinds. Fake walls/roof dont do it for me, I am sorry.
241  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Crash on resized lots at 7PM -- any ideas? on: 2007 November 04, 21:41:13
To remove stuff out-of-reach after shrinking, did you try to use the demolition tool? I demolished outer walls with that, didnt try it on foundation, yet.
242  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Crash on resized lots at 7PM -- any ideas? on: 2007 November 03, 23:47:49
You dont have to make another windows xp  account- just rename the sims2 folder in documents - for example to sims2-realgame - and then restart the game - voila, game created new sims2 folder, and that one can be used for testing. When I want to play my real game, i change the name of the new folder to sims2test, change sims2-realgame back to sims2 and go play. Very easy, just a few letters to type, no extra programs - only thing needed is the extra space for a sims2 folder in my documents. My absolute vanilla-game folder takes up 512MB (I have all expansions and I use the Clean Templates, so I dont get any extra hoods/character files and such.) The test one has the needed downloads added, atm building stuff.
243  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Crash on resized lots at 7PM -- any ideas? on: 2007 November 03, 09:47:14
Yesterday I was working on my castle courtyard (3x3 lot, set as a park, placed in the middle with no road access) and tried to place a pedestroan portal 1 level up, on the top of the stairs. Not good. Made the game crash every time I tried to save. Moved portal to ground level, saved fine.
244  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Problems with internal split level foundation on: 2007 November 01, 12:29:09
I found the guilty files - recolors of the greenhouse walls. Pity, more colors of those are much needed. But now they are thrown out.
245  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Problems with internal split level foundation on: 2007 November 01, 11:04:24
I recently have realized that I cant use the internal split level foundation anymore. Probably since I installed BV. Anyone else having this problem? Can it be a hack conflict? Or a BV bug? Something the patch will fix, maybe?
When I try to place it I can't, and the message is that it cant be placed where there are fences - even if I have no fences at all on the lot, lol.
246  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Crash on resized lots at 7PM -- any ideas? on: 2007 October 30, 00:10:38
In a building frenzy for my medieval town - but I also test played some of the new houses. One was a shrunken lot made from scratch, and 2-3 were old lots, first expanded, then rebuilt (with sims living on them) and then shrinken to original size. I testplayed these lots a couple of sim days each to see if they would crash at 7pm. No such crashes. I have all available expansions.
The only lot that I had problems with was one that got corrupted because it was too close to some other stuff when expanded. I got an error message when using LE. It was changed when I loaded the game, I could enter it but it was not a beautiful sight, lots of blue and weird stuff. I moved the family out and built them a new house, much better suited for their village bakery anyway.
Again, this is so much fun! I agree with Inge when she says this is a major breakthrough. TY again to the creators!
247  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Walls closer to the lot edges... on: 2007 October 28, 10:22:06
TY Pbox! Thats the goal, to create an old medieval town with cities as Stockholm or Copenhagen as a model Cheesy
(I myself live in Stockholm, took a walk in Old Town the other day for inspiration and ideas Smiley.

248  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Walls closer to the lot edges... on: 2007 October 27, 21:51:48
I have been having fun with this all day, building houses for my Old Town/Port, downtown for my medieval village. This is of course far from finished yet, its still located in a test hood and not ready for sims to move in.. I have a lot of work to do before I get that far, the Old Town needs several blocks! But anyway, doesnt it look nice:

There are 13 lots in this pic.
This is so much fun! TY all you clever modders!
(Ooh.. lots outside the road system.. must make those too!)
249  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Vacation Locals invading neighborhood?! on: 2007 October 25, 00:04:19
*blushes This could very well be the one.. this is what happens when you save the download in the wrong folder, and then forget who actually made it. Thnx for pointing out that its built in to VC. I get much fewer far-away-locals now, but it still happens occasionally. I will continue to go through my downloads and my lots to see what can be the problem.
250  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Vacation Locals invading neighborhood?! on: 2007 October 23, 11:39:22
On my Nesshunt, I so far did the following: 1. Took out some other visitor-related hacks. 2. Deleted (in game, on lot) both the VC object and the CS object, placed the CS again and redid the settings. Seems like this worked. I later added back the VC object, and I still didnt see any of the pesky far-away-locals show up. This was on a home business lot (my home-pub-restaurant The Laughing Cow). One of the hacks I took out was Alexx "more walkbys"(MTS2) which is atm the main suspect.
Tonight I will go on with the testing on the neighbour lot, the Bakery.

With my compulsive collecting of hacks, also non-awesome ones, I understand the great risk of Nesses. TY for helping me see the light.  Grin Cool
