I think that means that one of them got stuck and the other didn't.  Wink

Probably. Smiley But in my own little mind, I like to think that Macy was just smarter than Madison.

Kittens are only good for chasing mice away. That... and looking cute. Once they turn into big fat lazy solitary creatures they aren't that nice.

My cat is neither fat nor lazy nor not-nice. All my kitties have been nice, in fact, whether or not they're also fat and lazy, and they are NOT solitary. That is a really crappy myth about cats. Angry

Yeah... I've seen solitary, non-nice cats before, but I've also seen plenty of cats that couldn't get enough of being around people. Of my current cats, the older one is incredibly sweet wiht me, while the younger (and fatter cat) wants attention and love from everyone. The 'porch cat' that I occasionally feed is incredibly sweet and affectionate whenever I'm out on the porch.

Of course, it all depends on taste. Some people are cat people, some people are dog people, some people... would rather not have to deal with other life forms. Wink

I've never noticed the difference between smart milk sticking or not sticking, but I have seen one twin learn easier than another twin. Both were fed smart milk and taught all the toddler basics. The one twin, though, learns like a demon. She's a teen now with nearly quite a few skills maxed. I said screw it on rolling for her aspiration since she obviously wanted to be a Knowledge sim.

One of the first things I tried when I started having this problem last night was to take out all the cc, but leave the hacks behind. While some of the cc was easily identified, some was just a long string of arcane numbers and letters and I had no idea what the heck it was. I'm glad I can put some of the cc back in, but it'll be nice to keep track of it better.

That functionality is also rolled into "No Eat Crap", which conditionally allows/disallows the talking, along with various other behaviors, like passing out into the food at a higher energy level than passing out normally, and then starving to death, etc., etc.

Where is "No Eat Crap". I poked around and didn't find a link to that particular thingy. Whatever it is.

So, I can put them in different folders and they'll work... but if there's a conflict, I have to figure it out the hardway. Right? Smiley

I had a sim get into the Secret Society, and I decided to remodel the kitchen in the SS house. All of a sudden a cook showed up and started making pancakes. I was all, "WTF?" Until I realized which stove I had chosen.

I guess they fed her to the cowplant to keep their secret safe... Wink

I seemed to have gotten it working, and smoother than it has been running. I basically disabled all other programs - ran msconfig and disabled all unecessary services and all start-up programs. Game came up fine and ran smooth as a nooboo's bottom. I have no idea what could have been causing the problem, but I guess I'll slowly turn things back on and see what's what.

As a side note, is it okay to make subdirectories in the downloads folder? Can I make a 'hacks' folder and a 'furniture' folder and still have the game read the content? (so it would be c:/.... sims2/downloads/hacks and c:/.... sims2/downloads/furniture?

Tonight, I got home from work and Sims2 (with all expansions, including FFS) would not start up. It would freeze in the load up screen. The music would keep going like everything was normal, but the screen was frozen and it wouldn't load up. Left it for five minutes and it was still on the same loading message (you know, the reticulating splines type thing).

Things had been running fine with the game until this past Thursday when I had a couple of crashes. I've been playing a little more cautiously since and haven't had one since Friday.

I've tried uninstalling drivers and intstalling new ones, but I'm guessing that doesn't have much to do with the game loading up.

I've also tried taking the disk out of the machine to make sure it doesn't have any schmutz on it.

Any advice on what to try or look at? The computer is only a couple of months old, but it was put together pieces-parts. I'm wondering if its possible to copy the disk contents to the harddrive and run the game from there to rule out a problem with the disk/dvd drive.
461  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Relationship Oddity - Possible Problem? on: 2006 June 24, 16:43:48
While it's a little extreme, I don't really mind the one half of the couple getting mad at the other half when the cow flirts with them. In Real Life, catching someone flirting with your SO like that can throw a little uncertainty into the relationship. My problem is that the relationship kept going down every time the hussy cow did it.

I watched her ruin one fledgeling relationship, nearly ruin one really strong-since-teens relationship, and make all the nice sims cry. I swear she went on a rampage. It was honestly kinda funny to watch. The best part was after all of that, the cheerleader came over and beat her up.

LOL... It WAS a drama professor too. I never realized that. Just thought it was some freak bug.

I've got a few Sims in a fraternity in University. Two of them are close to graduating, so I've been trying to push through and get them both out and into the real world. Last night I played for a few hours and had my system crash on me. I think that's a possible problem with my graphics card.

What's odd, though, is that when I started playing today, a couple of weird things happened. There are six sims in the frat. Two seniors, two juniors, and two Freshman. One of the juniors got a want to throw a toga party, so I decided to go for it. One of the friends in his list was Professor Vincent GilsCarbo. I said what the hell and invited him.

Well, the two seniors are a couple, so during the party, I sent them out to the hot tub to woohoo. All of a sudden, the Professor went freaking nuts. He ran out and started screaming about one of the seniors cheating on him. As far as I can tell, the sim he was accusing of cheating had JUST met him at that party. I never saw a flirt interaction, but I guess it could have happened and I missed it, but still. I thought that was odd.

Later on, the house was assaulted by the cow. She showed up and started annoying and coming on to everyone. She flirted with one of the two seniors, which caused the other half of the couple to understandably get upset. What's odd, though, is that in his memories, he refers to the cow as having cheated rather than his actual significant other. Is that normal and I never noticed it?

If things keep getting odd and the computer crashes keep coming, I may be asking for a bit more technical help. :x
464  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Is FFS worth every penny? on: 2006 June 13, 22:22:09
I feel like I overspent to get FFS, but eh... I don't regret getting it. I really like the BNL and other songs that were added to the radio stations, and having some new furniture to decorate with is always nifty. Yeah, I know I can download furniture, but I always get worried about the game going kaboom (I seem to have bad luck when I download cc).
465  TS2: Burnination / The War Room / Re: Chance Cards: A Quick Gambler's Guide on: 2006 June 13, 22:09:04
One thing I haven't heard (or seen happen in game yet) is what happens if a chance card docks you more money than you actually have? Do you go into pseudo debt, or does it just take all the cash you've got?
466  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Graphics Glitch - Faces on: 2006 May 30, 22:24:32
I remember some of my sims1 families, but I got very bored with them pretty quickly. Sims2 is much more engrossing for me, with the whole generational thing. Smiley I like that they grow up.
467  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Graphics Glitch - Faces on: 2006 May 30, 21:54:57
Hehe. Smiley

I wasn't quite that prolific. I had eight families I'd created to populate the initial neighborhood, but I was really only playing four of them regularly. The others weren't that interesting.

Originally I'd had the Sawyer, Jackson, Kates, Hurle, Michaels, Shannon, Jinsun, and Boone families. (Can you guess what I was getting into when I created my neighborhood... Isla Lostundo. Yes, I am a dork.) At this point, I've recreated Sawyer, Jackson, Kates and Hurle. I might remake the Shannons, but I'll probably skip the Boones and Jinsuns.
468  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Graphics Glitch - Faces on: 2006 May 30, 19:36:59
That's the weird thing. When I was starting to pull my hair out, it seemed like something was eating my EA folder in My documents. I lost my OFB backup and I think my NL backup disappeared that way too.

I'm honestly okay with starting over. I wish I could have the *mumblemumble* hours I put into the original group back, but starting over let me restructure things a bit. Basically changed some starting ages (one couple went from being elders with adult children to adults with teens/child), and changed some relationships (made one lone sim the younger brother of a pair of sisters).
469  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Graphics Glitch - Faces on: 2006 May 30, 18:52:09
I did have a backup of the neighborhood from when I installed OFB, but when I switched back to NL, the same corruption was still there. I'm honestly not even sure how I might have saved things from that, and by the time I got back up and running, I was just glad to have the game working.

I've learned my lesson for the future, though. I think each day before I play, I'll pop into SimPE and make a backup of the neighborhood.

I was just barely into the second generation of things. I'm curious to see if I get similar kids to the ones I had (although I'm going to miss my twin alien girls, Venus and Mercury).
470  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Graphics Glitch - Faces on: 2006 May 29, 20:36:40
I am sad, but not completely broken up. I figure I can recreate them and try some different things and see how close I get to what I had.

I think that there was something corrupt in the neighborhood file that caused the original glitch. It's like their faces weren't fully attached anymore.
471  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Graphics Glitch - Faces on: 2006 May 29, 18:27:07
I *think* I'm back up and running. I don't know what caused the graphics glitch in the first place, but I was able to reinstall everything finally. Neighborhoods are gone (sob), but it's a relief to just be able to log back in.
472  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Graphics Glitch - Faces on: 2006 May 29, 16:49:20
At this point, I'd be willing to let the neighborhood go. It makes me sad, but you're right... I'll live.

I'd be happy to wipe everything and reinstall, but the fact that the game won't reinstall is really bothering me. Starting from scratch would be good, but it doesn't seem to want to do that.
473  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Graphics Glitch - Faces on: 2006 May 29, 16:28:42
Tina G, I think you're right in that it is something in the neighborhoods folder, but...

*whimper*

Somehow, in my attempt to fix the problem, I've made things even worse.

At this point, I can't even get the Sims2 to run at all. If I try and run, I get an error (little window with a red x) that doesn't have any text.

I tried uninstalling OFB and going back to Nightlife. I got that to work fine, but the graphics glitch was still there. I tried reinstalling OFB, since that didn't seem to be the issue. I replaced the files I thought I was supposed to replace, but when starting it up, I got that error.

So, I tried to uninstall everything and start from scratch. After uninstalling everything, and trying to reinstall... I got an error telling me that the disk couldn't transfer some .bmp file and wasn't going to be able to continue installation. This is from the original disk.

I don't think there are any problems with my disks. I think there's something left behind on the computer that's causing a problem, but I don't know what it is. I'm about at my wits end.

Help?
474  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Graphics Glitch - Faces on: 2006 May 29, 04:22:01
I'm beginning to think drilling holes in their heads would work.

I tried uninstalling OFB and going back to the files from NL, but the same thing is happening. I'm going to try getting my Nvidia drivers to the recommended ones and see how it goes.
475  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Graphics Glitch - Faces on: 2006 May 28, 21:01:13
I am fully prepared to learn how awesome I am not.

I just installed OFB yesterday and I've been experiencing a weird graphics glitch with faces. With some sims (not all), it's like their faces aren't really attached. If you zoom in or they move just right, the face goes away and they become featureless. Then a moment later it will be back.

Most everything else seems to be working fine, though there was one house with a weird graphics glitch on the floor where someone left the newspaper, but I couldn't select it any longer.

I have tried:
  Updating my video drivers
  Updating to beta video drivers
Removing all downloaded items and hacks
Replacing character files with back up ones

I have:
eVGA 256-P2-N389-AX Geforce 6800GS CO SE 256MB GDDR3 PCI Express x16 Video Card
AMD Athlon 64 3200+ Venice 2000MHz HT Socket 939 Processor
Crucial Technology 1GB (2 x 512MB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400 (PC 3200) Unbuffered Dual Channel Kit System Memory Model

Everything was working fine, for the most part, up until I installed OFB. Last week I ran into a problem (with Uni and NL installed) where a baby wouldn't grow up into a toddler and I had to force things with boolprop, but that's really the only other glitch I've run into.

Any advice would be really appreciated.
