26  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Is Cloning a Neighbourhood a VBT? on: 2008 October 10, 04:00:38
Please explain what you mean by crosstalk.

Let's say I have a neighborhood and a clone of that neighborhood in the game at the same time. If I kill a sim in the clone, how does that affect the original neighborhood? If two sims get married in the clone, how does that two sims in the original? What does it do to the files?

Basically, I want to know what degree of VBT thing this is. No offense, J.M., but your declarations of VBT are always delivered at the same intensity, so I don't know if this means immediate corruption or if it -might- cause problems. I've had a couple of other things done in the neighborhood that were delcared VBT, but haven't caused any visible issues with over a year of playing in the same hood.

Thank you!
28  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: TS2 Store Stuff on: 2008 July 07, 20:29:16
I was away for a couple of days, so I missed out on the clothes when they were first linked on the first page. Now one of the links is overloaded (not available until the 31st because of how many downloads it got) and the other link is dead. Is there an alternative link?

Thanks again for compiling this stuff WITH the fixes.
29  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: TS2 Store Stuff on: 2008 July 03, 07:19:06
Sometimes I really love this site. Snarky, but awesome.

I'm guessing, since the link has been pulled from the front page of the thread, that there's a problem with clothes working? I checked out everything today and I've got hair styles and items, but no clothes.
30  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: TS2 Store Stuff on: 2008 July 01, 18:08:53
Apparently Celebration Stuff hasn't sold well enough for them to port it over to Mac. Poor Prof has been pining over the Celebration stuff for ages, but they just won't port it over.
31  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Changing a Terrain on: 2008 June 05, 20:01:18
I picked up and shuffled all the lots, and it seems to be working just fine now. Thanks so much, Snoot. Smiley
32  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Changing a Terrain on: 2008 June 04, 09:05:59
In order to get the new terrain to show from inside the lot, you have to pick it up and move it, then move it back.  It's a pain, I know.  I had to do that for my apocalypse lot after I changed the nbhood terrain to desert.

So as long as I pick up and move each lot, the neighborhood should show up with its new terrain type?

Do I need to do this with community lots as well? I'm guessing I do. Since this is downtown, that's a lot of lots, but it'll be worth it. I'm sick of looking at concrete as far as the eye can see.
33  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Changing a Terrain on: 2008 June 02, 20:29:10
So, I know there's a cheat that will let you change the type of terrain in the neighborhood view, but that doesn't effect the view from inside the lots of that neighborhood. (I.E. I can change desert to concrete or whatever)

Does anyone know of a way to actually get it to change completely, so it's viewable like that from within the lots? I've poked around, but my google-fu is poor and I haven't seen any resolution. I'm thinking maybe terrain surgery would work, but attempting that scares me a bit.
34  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Hair Mesh Fixes? on: 2008 May 30, 19:43:57
No worries. Smiley Hijacking is a natural way of Forum Life, after all.
35  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Hair Mesh Fixes? on: 2008 May 30, 07:26:47
Either the mesh was too fucked up to start with, or either I'm too much of a n000b for this complicated kind of mesh (yikes! 15 mesh groups! And over 10,000 polys. Per age!) but I don't think I can be of any help, after all. Which I regret, since I think it was a nice hair and I would have liked to have it (sans gaps) myself.

Sorry  Undecided

Ah well. Thanks for trying, Berg. Someday, someone else may take a crack at fixing the mesh. Until then, I'll make due until I decide I'm sick of it and give her a makeover again.
36  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Hair Mesh Fixes? on: 2008 May 29, 19:33:39
I generally like the cartoony aspect of the Maxis colors. For the most part, I don't have a problem with the Maxis hairs, there's just too few of them. I need more variety than they offer. I can understand why some people prefer natural colors, but I get really grumpy when I find a hairstyle I like and the red isn't even close to Maxis match.
37  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Nuke Attraction Bubbles? on: 2008 May 29, 08:25:22
Is this the new shiny you're referring to:

"5. FT: Utterly Borked Beauty Wish Code Fix. I have no idea WTF EAxis was trying to do because the code is utterly warped beyond all logic and reason, as if the person who wrote it was thoroughly stoned at the time of writing. Which, being that EAxis is in California, is unsurprising."

I'm assuming it is, but I've got no f'in clue what 'Beauty Wish Code' is.
38  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Hair Mesh Fixes? on: 2008 May 29, 08:18:33
My main complaint with cc red is that it's too hard to find any consistency. Red's especially the worst. Occasionally, if want to change a hair style, it can be a pain to try and find a style in a color that actually matches the previous style. Blond can be bad too, but usually isn't quite as bad.

I think Miranda's (my avatar) hair is a Rissa recolor. Smiley
39  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Hair Mesh Fixes? on: 2008 May 28, 19:15:54
Thanks Berg!

And yeah, I'm well aware that Peggy and Juice are Notorious (capital N) for their mesh gaps. Unfortunately, dispute the sucktacity of some of her meshes, there are occasionally styles from that site that I actually like quite a bit otherwise.

Honestly, I don't think there's a single hair creator out there I'm completely happy with. Peggy has horrible meshes and asstastic colors. Rose meshes can also be bad, and red is usually far from it. Rissa's recolors are great on the red, but her brown is way too red. Nouk's red isn't red enough. So on and so forth. If I disregarded every creator for the things I don't like about them, I'd be stuck with just the Maxis hair, which gets really boring, really quickly. For me at least.
40  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Hair Mesh Fixes? on: 2008 May 27, 21:15:33
I know I've checked Renegade (wish it would come back), but they don't have this one.

It is a pay mesh, but Rissa has the mesh with the download of her recolors: http://rissa-styles.tevalon.de/content/blogcategory/15/52/1/4/ (It's the second one, obviously). If you could even just fix the gaps so they weren't as constant, I would be grateful. :}
41  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Hair Mesh Fixes? on: 2008 May 27, 08:16:42
You may all laugh and point at me for asking this, but I'm not sure where else to turn.

I have a particular hairstyle on a fairly important sim in my neighborhood. It's a very good hairstyle for her and I really like the way it works with her look. Unfortunately, it is a Peggy hair that has some asstastic gaps in the mesh. I've got the Rissa recolor of it, but that does nothing for the mesh.

I'm speaking of this hair:  http://ang.mux.net/simpics/peggyd109.jpg

Which does this: http://ang.mux.net/simpics/badmesh.jpg

Pretty much any picture I take from behind her has some sort of gap in it now. It's ugly as hell and it pisses me off, because otherwise I like the way this style looks. I can photoshop in some skin whenever I need it, but I'd rather not have to edit every picture I have of her. I *could* just choose another hairstyle for her, but that would be too easy.

Does anyone know of anyone who might have done a fix for this mesh?
42  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Zombie Nanny wants to do her grown up charge on: 2008 May 18, 21:27:20
I don't have lechery problems in my neighborhood, outside of University. For the most part, once my sims latch onto their One and move in together, they stop looking for hoochie anywhere else. Ultimately, I wouldn't play without ACR because it allows a degree of randomness in both who my sims eventually end up with and in how many kids they add to their family. I've gotten some wonderful surprises out of ACR and only one or two instances of bad lechery.

As far as the zombie goes, setting her as family probably should work, and I don't think it'll mess anything up too bad.
43  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Fresh Food Issue on: 2008 May 04, 07:09:06
ARGH. Y'know, I've been around here long enough that I should know better. Even if I've mostly just been watching the board and not participating, I've still been around long enough that I ought to have known better.

For some reason, I growled at the problem and never even thought to check my downloads. Sometimes I really am a dumbass.

I sifted through tonight. It turned out to be a couple of TwoJeff food hacks that I somehow had missed getting updated versions of. I fixed that and now my sims can eat fresh food.

44  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Fresh Food Issue on: 2008 May 03, 02:23:09
This is a problem I've had for quite some time, but I've never really spent too much time gardening or fishing, so it hasn't been an issue. Now that I'm exploring those two parts of the game, it's become a problem. I have made sure that all my custom fridges (from Holy Simoly) are the Seasons versions, but ultimately, I'm experiencing the problem with both Maxis fridges and custom fridges.

Basically, I can have sims stock the fridge with fish, but if I tell them to actually make the fish, they either freeze or snap out of the interaction. If I tell them to make anything else, they're fine.

Also, the one time I harvested vegetables and loaded them into the fridge, it 'broke' the fridge so that the door was stuck open and I had to delete the fridge. In another house, I stocked the fridge with veggies, and no one was able to access the fridge at all.

As far as I am aware, I have no custom food in my downloads folder. At one point, I had some custom desserts from MTS2 and one other place, but I removed those after I was done running a bakery as a business.

Anyone have any clue what might be going on here? I know I'm late to the game on the Seasons things, but it is starting to get irritating now. :}

I look up the Jordi thread every time a new expansion comes out and I need to snag the music. CHeck in the Peasantry. It's probably a page or two back. I think it was originally put up after Pets came out.

If you extract it the way Jordi instructs, you should have individual files for each song that contain the data for the songs. I have everything loaded into iTunes and I get both the artist of the song as well as the expansion the song came from in the album category.
46  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: KBS Ate My Game on: 2008 April 19, 04:15:06
You are a gentleman and a scholar. That seems to have done the trick.

I didn't run into this problem with TSS or with FreeTime. I avoided using AGS until Numenor updated it, but there were no problems with game play or anything until KBS. The only reason I even suspected it was because I was one of the folks who ran into the early problem with AGS where it caused a similar issue. Ah well.

I uninstalled KBS, renamed my Sims2 folder, reinstalled KBS, opened up the game and was able to successfully change someone's look. Now I throw my important neighborhoods in and my downloads and see if it all comes up spiffy.

Thank you!
47  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / KBS Ate My Game on: 2008 April 19, 02:45:20
I picked up Kitchen and Bath Stuff yesterday and installed it last night. With my downloads pulled and in a test neighborhood, I started checking things out. The moment I sent someone to the mirror to check out the new hair options, the game crashed. Ookay.

Thinking this might be a problem with Numenor's AGS, I uninstalled that. Same thing happened. Change Appearance and the game crashes.

I've tried it with the downloads folder in, the downloads folder out, CEP uninstalled, Sim Wardrobe Wrangler uninstalled, and so on. Nothing seems to work. Change Appearance crashes the game.

As a side note, installing KBS also reset my neighborhoods. Before install, I had Desiderata, Riverblossom, Pleasantview, Strangetown, Custom Hood, Custom Hood, and HP's mixed Maxis Mega Hood. After install, it was back to the basic five, with Veronaville in place even though it had been removed.

Anyone have any clues or guidance about WTF is wrong here? And what to do? I'm loathe to uninstall the SP, but my most important neighborhood is backed-up, so I can do that.
48  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: This is why EAxis sims should never breed on: 2008 March 27, 21:18:55
They don't look that bad to me, actually. Especially for the father who sired them. Sure, the son has a freakish nose, but the rest isn't THAT bad. Same with the girl. She's actually pretty, IMO.

I guess I'm getting more forgiving of unique genetics from my sims. I'm still a bit concerned about weird genetics, but.. feh. I've seen some really interesting looking sims come out of unexpected unions.
49  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Video Card Upgrade and Power Supply Question on: 2008 February 07, 09:08:11
You are always an amazing font of information, Hegelian.

Everything in the computer was bought at NewEgg just under two years ago. I had a friend put it together for me. I watched and I understand most of the basics, but it's still a bit intimidating. I've replaced video cards before, but never power supplies.

Either way, the machine has a COOLMAX "EZ Wire" CU-400T ATX 400W Power Supply. Here's the link to it on NewEgg: http://www.newegg.com/product/product.aspx?Item=N82E16817159047. Most of the specs mean nothing to me. I was told it was a pretty good power supply, but I have no idea what that really means in terms of upgrading the video card.

My motherboard does not have an AGP slot for a video card. Only the PCIe. It's a ASUS A8N5X 939 NVIDIA nForce4 ATX AMD board. Hrm. In looking that up, I just realized it's a board geared towards Nvidia cards. Does this mean I can't put an ATI card on it at all or it's just a pain in the arse?

I'm currently running only 1GB of ram (Crucial 1GB (2 x 512MB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400 (PC 3200) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory), and I know that's something relatively easy to upgrade. I can get another 1GB of that same ram (for the empty two slots I've got) to give me a total of 2GB, or I can go crazy and do a complete upgrade to 4GB. I know that helps with the BSOD issue, but only masks the problem.
50  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Video Card Upgrade and Power Supply Question on: 2008 February 06, 21:28:49
For quite a while, I've been pondering upgrading my video card. If I were playing anything other than Sims2, it would probably be fine. But, since I have a nice shiny Nvidia card, I get to experience the joy of the BSOD of I don't have usershaders off.

The problem I'm running into is that I am getting overwhelmed looking at the various video cards. I don't know what's going to be a worthy upgrade in my price range (preferrably under $200) and still work with the power supply I've got in my machine.

The video card I'm currently running is: EVGA 256-P2-N389-AX GeForce 6800GS 256MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 SLI Supported.
The power supply in my machine is a 400W one.

I can easily find comparable ATI cards, but going upward at all, I'm not sure what might make my power supply wheeze and die.

Advice? Pretty please?
