Title: Sim-Kid cash rewards...oh and random death.
Post by: Emma on 2008 November 07, 13:13:42
You know when a kid is at school and they get §100 from grandparents? Well, the money they get is not being credited to the household budget. I only noticed because I was playing with the dirt-poor Newson family and they really needed that money! All eps/sps>AL & Ikea, ALp2. Happening to anyone else?

Oh and another unrelated thing...Sanjay Ramaswami came home from work, put groceries in the fridge then keeled over and died! All needs were green, he was not pregnant or sick. Luckily his wife saved him. WTF?

I too am concerned that random death is back. I had a Sim come home from work and keel over dead. Confused as to why that would happen, I made him selectable and took a screen pic. He is dying from the choking death, which I believe is from illness. I have had no illnesses in this hood at all yet as it is a fairly new hood. Is this the mysterious choking death that pregnant Sims used to experience in the base game before the patch? It looks the same although the random deaths are not affecting the pregnant now.

Sorry for the darkness. After I took this picture, my daughter showed me that I could go into buy mode, turn it to daylight, then get a pic from there. But I didn't know this at the time.

ETA: I noticed both of our Sims died after coming home from work. Did yours go to work hungry? The reason I ask is because I am playing Apocolypse challenge and my Sim went to work very hungry. So hungry in fact that he really should have starved to death before lunch. I watched at lunchtime and his hunger bar filled all the way up, so I thought everything was fine. Besides, this isn't the correct animations for the hunger death.

I think the hunger bar was half-filled, so not starving, no. Plus, he walked from the mailbox the the fridge before collapsing.

"random" death to emma. lulz.

I'm getting a lot more random death lately, and I haven't patched AL yet. Granted, most of the time it's pregnant chicks, but said pregnant chicks are in the green.... at worst yellow.

Hi Emma, Funny you should bring this up, this same thing has been bothering me. I first noticed it sometime back in "Seasons" that the $100.00 wasn't actually getting rec'd. It was only at that ep I really first  started to watch. I have up to Free Time.  I've never seen any money from grandparents go into the sim household money. Never a 'ching' sound of money that I can remember since the base game. It moves so fast and unexpectedly with the pop up notice that one hasn't a chance to check what funds were prior to it, but again no 'ching' sound ever, and no money either.

Emma, WandaAnn.  Are these kids in private school?
The money for public school was set at 100, but the value for private school was set at 0.

I've posted some choices in Peasantry (http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php/topic,13608.0.html).

I wish I could say I knew what was happening with those random deaths :/

All kids are in public school. Darn game..

edit: On the otherhand, no problems with random deaths.

Shop 'til you drop taken a bit too literally, perhaps?

The money is credited only a few instructions after the dialog appears, and as the public school values are small they may just have gone unnoticed.
There's no 'kerching' or visual signs associated with these credits.

Yeah, I only noticed because the Newsons had no money apart from a few simoleans. I don't know which school it was as half of them are in Private and half in Public, and I can't remember which one it was that got the reward.
