1851  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: How do I back up my sims and neighborhoods? on: 2006 March 14, 03:35:01
So after extensive testing. I removed my downloads folder and played a family that had no custom content for 20 minutes. No noise. So I added my downloads and played another family for 20 minutes. No Noise. So I added one category of my hacks to the hacks folder at a time (divided by, twojeffs, pesacado, crammyboy, simlogical, riskywhoohoo, mst2) and tested each for twenty minutes. By the time I added the folder that had the most hacks in it (JMP's because it has the MATY Director's Cut in it) I had no instance of the noise.

So I've been playing for a hour with all hacks installed and no noise. *Sighs* So weird. Not going to complain as long as it doesn't come back. Maybe I had something that needed something else to work first and I installed them in the wrong order.

Oh well, thanks everyone for all your help.

Some of this is almost verbatim from the guide:

According to the guide you have a random chance to gain a skill point EVERYTIME the date goes up a level (not counting times when you LOSE a level and then gain it back) during an outing with a group of sims you get one chance PER MEMBER OF THE GROUP when you gain a level. So, outtings are better chances for gaining skill points than dates. I don't know the percentage of the chance, but I've been dating like a mad woman since the EP came out and I have gained skill points ONCE. The guide also says you can gain more than one skill point on a date, and they are all added on at the end. You can gain skill points from people in the same household as you.

If you are dating someone who is in the same career path as you AND they are above career level 3 there is a chance your sim could get a promotion the next time they go to work. This does not apply to sims living in the same household.

Surprise gifts are randomly chosen from the list of of gifts from each score level. The higher the score, the more valuable the object. A dream date can deliever a piano or an expensive stereo while a good date will bring a garden gnome or a remote control car.

Mm my settings are right and my directx features tab on the dxdiag has no slider bar. =p

No clue, but I am testing my hacks again, so far nothing has caused it, so maybe it was one of my hacks. Long process though.

Yeppers. Doing another hack test before reinstalling.

Yep, Windows XP and the SB Audigy 2 ZS soundcard. And there are not any "VXD" drivers. At least as far as I can tell. I hate not being computer S-M-R-T.
1858  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: How do I back up my sims and neighborhoods? on: 2006 March 13, 23:59:07
Hmm I do have the Audigy ZS Soundcard. I know it is coming from the pc though as it is still audible when I have the headphones plugged in or the game muted. I will try  getting different drivers. (AGAIN) Thanks for that!

Coulda sworn I had windows XP though....

It was a thought.  Tongue I have the Sims 2 DVD, though, maybe that makes a difference?

KOTOR II was released a few MONTHS too soon. I am eagerly awaiting Team Gizka to finish restoring the lost content. Even if it means Atton may die.  Cry

I am going to try a reinstall when I get home tonight, maybe something got corrupted when I purged my downloads after installing OFB. I got tired of the long as heck loading times so I deleted everything from my download folders. Maybe there is a townie running around wearing a hair and make up I don't have anymore and it's FUBAR'D something.
1861  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: How do I back up my sims and neighborhoods? on: 2006 March 13, 23:29:01
I did update my drivers. *pouts* It had no effect whatsoever.
1862  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: SimPE For OFB is available. on: 2006 March 13, 23:18:32
Make up and lightning, Mike, the trick for every real female. Make up and lighting. ^.^
1863  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: How do I back up my sims and neighborhoods? on: 2006 March 13, 23:10:10
I believe I have a non intergrated sound card. It's a sound blaster something ZS or something like that. It's been two years since I bought my pc.  Cheesy

1864  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: The cheesecake thing on: 2006 March 13, 23:07:10
I do know what you mean about bug inconsistancies. I don't get a lot of bugs that people complain about, but I wipe out my neighborhoods and start over fairly frequently. So I have never gotten anywhere close to a BFBVFS.

But it is like that for most games though. People complain about bugs in KOTOR and KOTOR II and I have only experienced ONE.
1865  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: The cheesecake thing on: 2006 March 13, 22:50:58
It's always possible it's broken in some cds and not others. My copy was a preorder, maybe different versions of the code was sent out?

Either way I would rather cheesecake = twins 50% of the time, than 100%
1866  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: How do I back up my sims and neighborhoods? on: 2006 March 13, 22:49:16
Lord, I hope that isn't it. It just so weird because it ONLY goes off while I play. The MOMENT I turn the game off it stops. *sighs*

My sims have received the Dance Sphere, DJ Booth, and the Karaoke machine. You must not have been very fun if you just got a napkin holder! Either that or your date was a klepto.  Wink
1869  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Maxis does it again! on: 2006 March 13, 22:27:02
I'm sure I'll get it.  I just need to get away from work so I can focus on it and nothing else. It just seems uber different from SimPe. I've been reading up on Slyeye (sp, I know)

[/list]  faq for genetic-izing custom content. All of her faq instructions are for SimPe. O_o

Ugh my head is spinning after reading those tutorials. A lot of info I have no hope of ever understanding. O_o
1871  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Maxis does it again! on: 2006 March 13, 21:49:18
I have a website I never use we can store the stuff on if you want I don't know how good my bandwidth is on there though. I never, EVER use it.
1872  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: SimPE For OFB is available. on: 2006 March 13, 21:26:30
Backing up my hood just requires copying my sims 2 folders, yes?
1873  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Maxis does it again! on: 2006 March 13, 21:25:43
Woot! I just found out the OFB friendly SimPe is out, so I no longer have excuses.

Motoki, do you know where I can find some idiot friendly faqs that will help me accomplish my needs?
1874  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: SimPE For OFB is available. on: 2006 March 13, 21:21:24
Ah sweet, I've been waiting on this before I took the big plunge into Simpe-age.

Any tips for a newbie?
1875  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Anyone with the NL guide? on: 2006 March 13, 21:18:36
I think the gifts are always of an entertainment or electronic type department. Stuff that your sim may or may not already have. Microwaves and dishwashers aren't fun and every sim should have one anyways. =)
