26  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Pregnant Sims & cars. Also: exercise equipment no work-y. on: 2006 December 08, 21:59:04
Nonworking exercise equipment is a quirky effect caused by bugged move-ins not properly setting the selectability bits, IIRC. Try seeing if "Fix Broken Selectableness" appears on the Lot Debugger. If not, try move-in/move-out on that particular sim using an Ingelogical shrub.
I didn't see it--is it one of the options available only in debug mode?  (I am incredibly stupid when it comes to, well, everything.)

Actually, with the want fixes around here, it isn't too bad. Kids often want them, but that seems realistic. I have created some CAS sims since pets who have never once rolled up a desire for a pet.
Hm.  It occurs to me that since I've downloaded all sorts of "Stopwantingthiscrap" hacks that I could just download that, too.  Maybe I will be heading out to the mall to pick up some Pets action.

... ew.  Not like that.

I think pregnant sims can drive (and go to community lots, and go to work) since OFB.
I have all EPs and SPs and my pregnant sims can drive.
Pioupiou
Ah, so it's a NL thing.  Bah.  I didn't really want to get OFB, since I don't think it really adds anything to the game, and I'm hesitant to get Pets because I imagine it'll just make all my Sims want a damn pet all the time.  (Am I wrong in this?)  Thanks.

I think you do need to try to get an error log.  My Sims can drive their cars while pregnant.  I've had them go to community lots on dates, take the kid to school, and even go to work (although the car pool doesn't come).

Do you have any pregnancy related hacks?
What!?  I got a message from Phoebe (the pregnant lady) saying, "Since I'm pregnant, I don't think I should be driving.  I am going to stay home and relax!" or something to that effect.  So it seemed like an actual, y'know, thing.  Not an error.  I am only running Uni and NL, though.  Maybe later EPs let pregnant ladies out in public?  She was only in her first "trimester" though, so it's not like she'd have the baby while hanging out downtown.  I do not have any preg hacks.

Pregnant sims can usually use the exercise stuffs, but they can't do yoga. Have you tried forcing an error on the exercise machine?
Hm.  She can do yoga, but not use the weight machine.  I sold it and bought a treadmill, and she can't use that either, though her husband can.  I'll force an error when I get home.  Or I'll get her pregnant again, what the hell.  She needs to build up her body skill though: she's a Family Sim, so you can guess what her LTW is.   Roll Eyes

As for the rolleyes thing, uh.  My browser was all wonky.  It was importing a panel from one of my favorite web-comic artists and I was really confused.  It's better now.  God, I'm just full o' problems.  Mock me at will.

I'm not sure why, exactly, Maxis decided that pregnant Sims should be confined to the home at all times like invalids, but it drives me nuts.  I don't need her to go bowling at a community lot, but it would be really nice if she could take her kid to school.  Does anyone know of any hacks that allow this?  I just started Legacy, and I plan to have my matriarch pop out quite a few kids, so she's probably going to be pregnant 90% of the time.  Also, seriously, Maxis, WTF.  I know it's great that the game allows for such ridiculously long maternity/family time, but in real life women can and often do work while pregnant.  They can also drive cars.  Sheesh.  (Also, obviously, I'm playing a modified Legacy, because the game just isn't enjoyable without mods to make the Sims less stupid.)

Also, my Legacy matriarch can't use exercise equipment when she's not pregnant.  The equipment works fine -- everyone else can use it -- but she can't.  My guess is that she has some sort of phantom pregnancy, where the game thinks she is but she isn't.  (Or maybe I think this because I've been read all of rohina's Legacy stories this week and she had a phantom pregnancy problem.)  Any solutions?  Deleting her didn't do it.

Also-also (and off-topic), why is the rolleyes icon replaced by a drawing by Klio? (http://10kd.outsidefood.com/)
31  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Car woohooing and date wants questions on: 2006 December 05, 16:14:33
Also, has anyone encountered the following problem (which is monumentally annoying) and if so, is there a fix?  My sim is on a date and one of her date's wants is, for example, slow dance or flirt, so she attemps it (whatever the want is) and is rejected!  is this normal? it makes no sense!  This has actually happened several times in my game.  Huh
I'm fairly certain this is normal Sim behavior.  I've had two siblings who both wanted to hug each other, but didn't have the relationship numbers to pull it off.  Didn't matter who initiated it, the interaction was always rejected even though they both wanted it to happen.

I've also had a Sim on a date who wanted to lose his woohoo blossom to the Sim he was on a date with.  Trouble is that their LTR relationship was only at about 60, too low for a successful woohoo attempt.  Weirdly, he was also afraid of falling out of love with the Sim, even though he wasn't in love with her.  I just assume it was some wackiness with their being at a 3 bolt attraction level.

In conclusion: The Sims, they be crazy sometimes.
32  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Phone Hacks Question on: 2006 November 28, 20:02:08
Oh.  It didn't work for me -- I only have the base game at ... *ahem* ... my office and it renders the phone completely unusable.
33  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Phone Hacks Question on: 2006 November 28, 19:59:12
If this hack weren't so damned awesome, I'd be irritated by its irregularity in usage.

So...
Base game: no dice
Uni/Nightlife/OFB + Cell phone: Click on Sim
Uni/Nightlife/OFB w/o Cell phone: Click on phone
Pets: Install Macrotastics, click on Sim
34  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Deleted Characters on: 2006 November 28, 19:55:37
Wait, is it cool if you deleted the Oldies and the Burbs when you started?  Or did I unwittingly set myself up for a BFBVFS two years ago when I first started playing?
35  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Phone Hacks Question on: 2006 November 28, 19:54:22
Actually, clicking on the Sim only works if you have a cell phone in his inventory.  It should work from a regular phone by clicking it.  If you have other (non-awesome) hacks, they may be conflicting--try putting only AutoYak and the phone hack in the directory and see if you can do it then.
36  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Phone Hacks Question on: 2006 November 28, 19:48:43
The "Call Family" option only shows up if you have family members who have a less than 95 short-term relationship with the caller *and* if there are family members available to talk to.  So if you're trying to introduce your uni sim to his teenaged cousin, you'll have to wait until school is out.  The "Call Family" function is a feature of AutoYak, not the phone hack.  If you're still having problems, try removing it from the directory and downloading a new one.  Also, autoyak doesn't work with just the base game.
37  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: something to do with invited friend... on: 2006 November 28, 17:03:34
I can't remember now, but I don't think that anyone was using the telescope.  But it doesn't really *bother* me--I like it when I have an excuse to be mean to the townies.  I don't like the default Sims that came with the game but I started playing before I knew to destroy everything and start fresh.  So some of my Sims are friends with Darren and Brandi and the less-bitchy Caliente sister.  If it weren't for the fact that I'm fiercely attached to my custom Sims, I'd pillage Pleasantview and salt the earth.

Say... killing Sims off doesn't bugger up game files, right?  It's only deleting them from the Simbin that does that?  My Sims can make new friends.  Better friends.
38  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: something to do with invited friend... on: 2006 November 28, 16:53:24
Cassandra Goth has a habit of running into other Sims' homes (in the proper neighborhood, not at uni) and then slapping them for no reason.  Then she'll just sit on the couch and hang out.  wtf.

My Sims get a lot of drop-ins.  Maybe because they're all so friggin' nice.

*goes off to download some visitor zapping hack*

Before making babies with any method other than CAS, you should use the Lot Debugger and initialized the random number generator.
Oh, yes.  I learned that lesson already, thanks to my identical triplets born several years apart.  One of whom is half of a set of fraternal twins.  *grumble*

The Tombstone of Life and Death will make a baby with any two Sims as parents.  It will also kill off unwanted Dads.
Explain how.  Also, what.
40  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Jealousy with Romance mod on: 2006 November 28, 16:02:04
I was wondering about this baby issue myself.  I have a lesbian couple: one family, one knowledge.  And I ... well, I heard rumors of the "Ugly Reject Baby Orphanage", so I made some random good-looking adults, mixed some genes around with the baby feature, deleted the adults, and then gave the babies a dead-beat father whom I promptly killed off after moving in.  Anyway, the couple has adopted all of those babies, and the family sim still wants more.  If I make her woo-hoo with a male Sim, will her partner think of the resulting baby as hers?  I mean, I'm pretty sure I can get her to *like* the baby, but I want her to think it's hers and then pretend that the woman was artificially inseminated.  My guess is that the resulting baby would show up in the partner's "Household relationships" tab, but not the "Family" tab.  Or am I wrong?

Or I could go back to my old Create-An-Orphan deal and ignore all this mess, but it really bothers me to watch the toddlers crying as they're neglected while waiting for Dad to die.  I need a faster killing mechanism.  (And, though I haven't been lurking here very long, I feel confident that in this someone can help me.)
41  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: A question. About poo. on: 2006 November 26, 09:24:21
Thank you for answering my stupid question!  I am old and slow to learn things.

Six flaming bags of poo: Baleeted!
42  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / A question. About poo. on: 2006 November 26, 03:29:42
I'm very late to the Sims EPs, and just installed Nightlife this past week.  And tonight I had two of my uni students go on really bad dates, just to see what happened.  Y'all know what happens: a big flaming bag of poo.  My question is, is it normal for the spurned lover to leave several bags of poo?  The crazy chick left six or seven, I think--as soon as one of the housemates cleaned it up, she tiptoed back up to the house with another one in tow.  And even though the housemates all pitched in and cleaned them up, the living room still has a zero environment score.  It's been over a day, and there's no poo in the room, but the Sims keep whinging and moaning about the room's quality.  Is there some sort of ... poo ... residue?  Or is this an error?  I tried all sorts of crazy things--removing the carpet, replacing the carpet, even removing the foundation of the house where the poo was and replacing it.  But they're still whining.

Is there a way I can ... force an error on a non-existent pile of poo oh my god I can't believe I'm actually typing this sentence.  Or is it just poo smell that will dissipate over time?  Anyway.  Please help.  It's my Greek house I spent ages building, and am rather attached to it.  Any ideas?

Also, in my-Sims-are-screwed-up-news: one of my uni Sims wants to play with, flirt with, and drink the cow-planted-life essence of her ex-boyfriend.  And I thought I had issues.

A (probably stupid) question: if you have a child from two blond parents, and then have the child change her hair to red by using the "change appearance" function, does that change her genes?
That doesn't work in real life, why should it work in the game?
Because the game is often stupid and illogical?
