Title: Small Neighborhood Terrain?
Post by: Digital Femme on 2006 November 05, 00:47:23
Can anyone point me in the direction of a free neighborhood that looks like this?

http://www.thesimsresource.com/downloads/sims2/hoods/326046/

Seaville is from a featured artist at The Sims Resource, and there's no way I'm going to pay almost ten bucks to download one file. Well, maybe two, this climbing course (http://www.thesimsresource.com/downloads/sims2/297798/) is pretty neat looking too.

Anyway, since I hate asking for something without giving something in return, here's a pair of jeans I made.

You can download them here (http://download.yousendit.com/D8F1200703DDAEB4) if you like them.

Don't they still do free rotation?

I thought featured artists never had their items in the free section. I'd love to be wrong about that though.

I think gethane made a very similar one for modthesims2, I like playing with it a lot- briny fjord or something, I think it was called?

The very newest FA stuff is always pay, but there's a lot of FA stuff that's on free rotation.

If you're looking for tiny terrains try MTS2's Loverat:  http://www.modthesims2.com/download.php?f=151&showType=2&u=99

Also, I have a couple of tiny terrains there myself:  http://www.modthesims2.com/member.php?u=269354&sort=&page=4

I looked for Briney Fjord (or something like that - I had the terrain once upon a time) but couldn't seem to locate it on MTS2.  Perhaps the creator removed it?

I thought Briney Fjord was one of the terrains that comes with the game?

Briney ford/fjord came with base game from the date in my sc4 folder.  Thanks for the links to loverats small terrains.  I build on small lots mainly, so big terrains are just.... too big!

Digital Femme, are you looking for any small terrain or particularly for one that looks like that?
Because I have SC4 and I would not mind makeing it for you if it's that you want one to look like that exactly.

WolfSim68 made a few small terrains I like. Here's one:

Thanks. They're actually the NL jeans for male sims than I altered to fit female sims. I don't like any of the Maxis jeans for females and all of the good jeans made by other players are for very skinny meshes. The waists are so narrow!

Argh! I can't see your site at all. IE 7 is a pain in the ass. Ah well, I need to download Firefox anyway.

OMG! You are my favorite person of the day. If you could do that, that would be wonderful. I just want something with very few roads and one route leading out of town/off screen. I need something extra tiny since a Uni with no more than ten buildings looks weird in a big neighborhood. And most of the small terrains people make are islands and I'm always wondering how the heck sims get to and fro. Hmmm. Maybe when I'm finally done with Metro Valley, my next neighborhood can have a castaway theme. Those teeny tiny islands on MTS2 are pretty nifty.

These (http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=133110) 3 are my favorites. Same terrain, 3 different road layouts. They don't have images associated with them, but I have one for each if you decide you like them.

Finally found the ones I've been using! dinkytink's Efficiency Neighborhoods (http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=189847). I love Dink-o-Rama. It makes a great retirement community. I built a heli-port to clone for the terrains, so the no-exit-roads layout visually made sense to me.

There's also a great tiny island I was using as a university: ambers_journey's Evansville Island (http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=197002). It works best with Mary Lou's mini-lots.

I never really considered downloading custom terrains 'till this post - thanks guys! Now I've got a few that will actually be playable for me without having to get agitated about having to scroll for ages to find a house and cursing the abundance in trees.

Digital Femme: that's a nice pair of jeans, good work :)
