Title: No Plat Grave for my poor grilled cheese simmie
Post by: Jysudo on 2006 March 31, 19:39:22
I had worked hard to ensure a grilled cheese simmie of mine died in plat. The grim reaper came to fetch her with his dancers and mai tai.
But no plat gravestone for her! Is there  no plat gravestone for a grilled cheese simmie or is there simply a bug in my game?  ???

Thanks for helping if you have a grilled cheese death before.

I wonder if they even bothered to make one. I'll check the game files when I get home if someone doesn't beat me to it. I bet you they didn't think to do it though. :P

I think they did, I remember reading about it in a legacy.  ???

There is one. It's ugly though.

Instead of the grilled cheese icon being gold, it's black. It looks burnt or something.

The urn is anyway, I don't think I've seen the headstone.

Did you achieve permanent platinum, or just a normal platinum mood? They need to be perma-plat for the pretty tombstone.

Since when?  ??? I've had Sims get platinum graves in the past and they were not in perma-plat.  Did that change with an expansion pack since it was not like that originally?

OK, maybe I'm spreading misinformation since my sims are always perma-plat when the reaper comes calling. But does it make sense to you that they get special treatment just because they were in a temporary state of platinum? No, that seems like a "close but no cigar" kind of situation to me. Then again, knowing goofy Maxis logic, anything is possible.

They were indeed in platinum status, just not perma-platinum.

Yes it does makes sense to me that they have a special treatmant, don't forget that the LTW and perma-plat thing was introduce in University.  It is hard to keep it just long enough when they die so they do deserve all the charade and kaboom that goes with it.  :D

I am no fan of the perma-plat thing, makes the life of my Sims boring unless they reach it when they are very old.  But you play your game the way you want. :)

Whether it makes sense or not, that's the way it works.  Perma-plat is not necessary.  I have only had a handful of perma-plat Sims in my game and I've seen plenty of platinum tombstones.

Gold tombstones have existed since the base game, so of course fulfilling a Lifetime want introduced in any expansion isn't required to get one.

My poor simmie is in temp plat mood when she passed on...
Its not because she got her LTW to eat 200 of those blasted things.

Damn, I wonder why I don't have a plat grave  >:( >:( Anyone have any idea? I am disturbed and because of sentimental reasons, I don't want to replace her normal tombstone with a fake decorative downloaded one (if there is even one out in the first place). I know there is no way to get her tombstone changed into the marble one but I want to know why it doesn't matter for me but it happens for Nihale. Thanks  :)

I'm not too sure, but I think it has something to do with being platinum at each age transition. If you are, you get the pretty gravestone. I have had perma-plat sims who have had the normal grey stone, but once when I had a sim from birth to death, platinum at each transition, finally popped her clogs...hula dancers and a lovely 'family' platinum gravestone appeared. :)

Hmmm, I don't think that's it... I think it's just a glitch.  I don't think being in platinum for prior age transitions has anything to do with it.

My temporary-platinum status Sims have always gotten the fancy tombstone. Even if I have to buy a bowling alley right beforehand. Haven't had a Grilled Cheese sim die of old age yet, though.

I'm sure it's a glitch. I've had CAS elders die in platinum and get a platinum tombstone, I've had townies that I've moved in die in plat and get a plat tombstone, I've had sims that at one point grew up in green or gold die in plat and get a plat tombstone. Growing up badly or so-so doesn't seem to have any more affect on tombstone status than it does on appearance as an elder. The only requirement seems to be dying of old age in platinum status.

I've always understood it to be that the sim had to be an Elder and Platinum at the time of death, otherwise, no Platinum grave marker.

I believe they also have to die of Old Age.

Well my sim died of old age and in temp plat mood...it  fulfils the conditions for a plat grave.

If you were borderline, he might have decayed during the entire Grim Reaper ritual, thus losing out.

Hmmm... but the simmie have those hula dancers. That showed she fulfiled the conditions right?
I cannot remember if I was borderline but it was certainly over 75% of the mood bar and in plat.

Well of course the Mood Bar was over 75% if he was in Platinum. It is filled (and to a higher level than a normal filled Mood Bar) when in Platinum status.

I think you can get hula dancers for anything as low as gold or even high-green. Plus the hula dancers spawn at an earlier stage.

Hmmm...I didn't know that we could get hula dancers if the simmies are not in plat.
So 'how plat' (as in what the level is)  must the dead simmie be to get a marble stone? This is the first time I have a simmie dying in temp plat (and not perm plat) so I don't know how high the bar must be for me to get a marble stone.

Thanks.

I've never gotten hula dancers below platinum from what I can recall.

Neither have I- and I've also gotten the marble stone from temp plat sims. I am sure of this, although I haven't payed as much attention to the hula dancers.

I just had a sim die right after arriving from work and he went from plat to gold during the ceremony and he had hula dancers but received a grey stone.

The grilled cheese aspiration was introduced with Nightlife, as the result of a failed (or not-failed, depending on your goal  ;)) experience with the ReNuSenso Orb.  All the Sim wants to do after being changed to this aspiration is grilled-cheese related, and the LTW for it is to eat 200 grilled cheese sandwiches.

I think in another thread you mentioned only having Uni, so you wouldn't have this in your game.  :)

Resurrect, eat 200 grilled cheese sandwiches and get the special tombstone. It can't be that hard, that is, if you have UNI. ;)

It's very stressful for me and my sim to eat 200 blasted sandwiches and end up with 200 spam memories... >:(
so she was better off remaining dead  :P

:P Understood. That's one of the reasons I don't play that goofy aspiration. As funny as it is, it gets irritating after a while. Of course, I don't think it was intended to be played through a full life cycle but I may just try it some day.

Maybe he/she could run a grilled cheese resturant. ;)

That's what my Grilled Cheese simmie does - not actually a restaurant yet, but a sandwich shop. It runs well because every few hours he just whips a sandwich plate out of inventory, serves it and he's back to Platinum. :)

It always seemed to me that it was so easy to get them into a high aspiration with Grilled Cheese so you could use the orb again and change them to what you were intending to in the first place before it failed - that is, if you wanted to...
