TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Sims that keep hiding? (NPCs?)

No privacy for NPC's! They our the tools of our YA sims. I got tired of sending Sims through college, but when I used, man, the hoops I jumped through to catch NPC's before they went into hide mode....

Yes, boo Yahoo Groups! I would love to join so I don't go out and spend a bunch of money on Civ 4 and "The Movies." I hope I am not too much of a noob here to participate.

Her last days were spent facing the corner in the kitchen, in her undies, standing in her own pee and emitting foul odors, and making my sims gag at the dinner table.
Ugh, The Blair Witch Sim Project.

For some reason, no buskers doesn't work in my game, so for families with instruments I make flat roofs and put everything on the roof.
I like the new "invite friends" feature, because then they will actually hang out with your Sim.

I have an idea for a story. It's called Whatever Happened to Baby Pam. Motoki, you crack me up with your ideas and your crazy-ass nannies. That fuzzy hat discussion was hilarious too. I am so glad you posted this. I am so burned out right now. I am spending way more time here than on actually playing. I think maybe I have been playing for too long...it is so frustrating now. I was a lot more forgiving of the Sims 1, except for the bugginess that was Unleashed. And that was before I even knew what "move objects on" was. I had to go on the official site's chat and ask a bunch of 12-year-olds, who were like, "use the cheat, DUH!" Ah, nostalgia.

Well, that's unfortunate. I hate when I'm trying to keep a Sim a certain way (lazy, out of shape, whatever) and they improve accidentally.
Dusty, your icon reminds me of someone famous--sort of like Alicia Keys. But there is someone else I can't think of.... She looks nice.

I kind of like the floating Sims, I don't know why. One of those weird things the game will do and surprise you. I don't have any nudity patches, mostly because I think the pixels are funny. I remember when I got ts1 and I saw the pixels for the first time...I cracked up. I usually only see them in the tub in my game. Brynne's backwards-feet guy are UGH!

Similarly, I've seen a promotion due to being friends with a coworker (after the coworker came home with my Sim). I think the phrase that was used was "So-and-so pulled some strings at work for your Sim." This is a nice feature.
I have not seen any skill gains from dates or outings.

I also had one of my gay male sims get sent Pao, the mailman, who is not gay in my game. That went over reallllly well...
I just came here to post about Pao, how weird. He is like the forgotten NPC. No one cares about Pao (including me, really). Anyway, in my game I have a CAS married couple (pre-NL), Harriet and Frank Horsenborg, that I hadn't played in eons. I loaded them up the other night and even after making their turn-ons match, they still had one lightning bolt for each other. Harriet's knowledge and Frank's financial. They were doing that thing where they were acting like family Sims, because I was having them be affectionate a lot, and they both rolled the "have a child" want at the same time. Since it seemed like they didn't have any red-hot luuuve going on, I decided to have Harriet tramp around a bit. She can have children, but they won't be Frank's! So Harriet got knocked up in the photo booth by a CAS guy who has red hair, light skin, and blue eyes. Did I mention that Frank looks Italian? This is where the "things I have learned" part comes in....Harriet was home from work and Frank was gone, so I decided to have her befriend another target guy for her next baby (she's having three, with three different baby daddies). Pao walks by to deliver the mail and Harriet gets all swoony over him. She was pregnant and starving, so I had her influence Pao to make her a meal. Then I had Harriet flirt with him a little bit and she went from swoony to disgusted, and had a strike through a bolt! I wonder what he said? Is Pao's grammar atrocious? Anyway, I learned that Pao makes a kickass chef's salad. AND that you can lean on NPC your Sim doesn't know from Adam to feed desperate pregnant women.

TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Sims 2 TV commercials with stories
|
on: 2005 October 26, 18:35:36
|
Has anyone seen the Sims 2 commercials on TV with stories behind them? I watch one television show once a week at my sister's house, and I've been seeing a commecial for the past two weeks. They are little Sim movies made from the game with narration, and then at the end they show the "simmer" who made them. Last night's was a Sim kid who grows up as somewhat of a failure but them becomes a famous politician (it looked like a dig at Bush, honetsly). At the end they showed the creator and said her name, and something like "this is how she plays her Sims." So far it's just been adults.
Anyone know is these are real people? Did they round people up on the BBS or have a contest? I am just curious.

I agree with Brynne--I read Reggikko's stuff for the first time the other day. HILARIOUS! The captions were killing me. I will keep watching for future installments.

I like what kewian said...I think they should wilt and die like in the first game. Then your Sim can have the pleasure of recieving fresh ones. My Sim has gotten many flowers, and a mirror, which seems more realistic than the DJ booth. I wish I could have that date...I could use a couple thousand dollars right now.

That's funny, KellyQ, that you posted about Angela coming home with Dustin every day. Before the patch, I didn't realize that was a glitch. There is so much illogical intentional programming in the game that I thought they meant to do it, because D & A were dating. I thought maybe all non-live-in relationships would turn out like that.

TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Holiday Addon pack announced
|
on: 2005 October 12, 22:29:59

About the pack itself: this one holds zero appeal for me. I'm Jewish, and all I see in this "holiday" pack are a bunch of Christmas decorations, Christmas skins, Christmas objects, etc. (Plus the token menorah which has been available for download from the official site for nearly a year.) I'm not saying there's anything wrong with Christmas-themed objects etc., it's just that I see very little if anything in this pack that will be of interest to non-Christians.
Karen
I am not Jewish, but I did notice the "token" menorah, for sure. That is a pet peeve of mine. I think this pack will be of interest to people who like Christmas. I am not Christian, but my family celebrates Christmas (gift-giving, eating like fools). A pack like this could also be very popular in Japan, when Christmas is very popular and embraced as a commercial holiday, while less than 1% of the population identifies as Christian.
