I'm not sure how KnowitallSim did it, but I recommend:

1. Put a lit fireplace in a 4x4 room
2. Place in little sim girl
3. Put in lots of other objects
4. Wait and watch

2. Place in little sim girl
3. Put in lots of other objects
4. Wait and watch
Put an easel or TV (with no chair) so they're standing 1 or 2 tiles away from the fireplace.

Thank you both. I'll try it out the next time I need a creepy little ghost for a haunted house. I thought that when attempting to kill them, children would be taken away by social services (I used to kill them in TS2, but with the MTS guillotine… social services had no time to save them).
