RC Car?

THANKS THIS IS GREAT

Mr. Pescado, at the risk of having my lips ripped off and being made fun of, I have a question.
I've read in various forums where some people say that the RC car can cause the objects.package file to become corrupt. While I myself have never had that happen in my game I was wondering what your opinion on this is?

My objects.package file became corrupt once, but I don't know what caused it.  I think I also read that it could be the remote-control car, but I've seen other explanations as well.  All I know is that I hadn't backed-up in a fortnight so lost two whole weeks worth of work.

Here's an old thread on that - removing the RC car has worked for me, I haven't had this bug recur since.

I've also had that problem. Stupid sorority girls brought it home and I accidently saved while one of them was playing it. This then caused the blank icon bug. I hate that care now.

In other words it's similar to the cellphone bug in that a sim has to be playing with it when you exit the lot for it to cause problems.

I've had it happen to me 3 times.  The 1st time it happened was only a few days after Uni came out, and so no one knew what caused it or how to fix it and I did a complete reinstall.  (being emotionally attatched to my Simmies, like they're my pets, I'm still not over it.  LOL)

The second time, I was playing a Frat house and some idiot wandered off and brought one back.  Next thing I know. . . blank icons, sims keep wanting to "move".  I studied up and found out about the corupted object.package.file.  I now keep a clean copy of that on my desktop for RC Cars emergencies!

Good idea!  Maybe they should keep a copy at TheSims2.com just so anyone who hasn't got a clean copy can download one!

They wouldn't do that because that would be admitting a problem!  Everyone has it on their Uni CD1, which you need to play anyway.  Unless you have broadband, it would take forever to download 35 MB.  I assume you were being facetious, ZZ. Smiley

I was hoping that most people on this forum were smarter than that. Smiley  At least the ones that come in properly and pay the $29.95 subscription fee instead of breaking in the back door.

For whatever it was worth, my rc car "didn't have aspirations" when my game developed the blank icon bug.  My hubby fixed the bug by doing whatever kmlough's thread suggested.  I stopped using the car after that. Within a week I had so many game stopping bugs, I finally decided to use third party "fixes".  I wonder if the blank icon bug signals when a neighborhood reaches critical mass.

I got it, and simply moved my Sims2 folder onto my desktop and reinstalled Uni, then put the folder back.  No probs since............yet.........apart from the evil repoman and that's nothing new!

I didn't. I got the "Buy One Month For The Price Of Two, Get One Free!" special. Too bad I missed the "Buy One Month For The Price Of Three, Get Two Free!" special. I would have loved to have got two free months.

Yes, but we must keep JM in the style he has become accustomed to; namely, a deep shelter, tins of baked beans and plenty of Black Label Single Malt

Plus plenty of freezer space for all those lips he's ripped.  I guess that's where he keeps them?  Otherwise they are going to start to stink.  Cheesy

Well, as I said before in another thread, he'd better watch out in case the FBI wonder what he keeps in the freezer!  I'm sure serial lip-ripping is against the law!

I thought he dried them out and used them for jewlery and Christmas Tree Decorations.   Wink
