1  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Store Content patches won't install on: 2012 November 24, 00:10:08
Sadly, that seems to make no difference. Tried it a few times, both with the game running and without it running.

Edit: However, the object that wasn't working before is working now, which is good enough for me! Thanks!
2  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Store Content patches won't install on: 2012 November 23, 23:34:24
I get the prompts, click 'okay' and it instantly gives me the patch installed message, without actually installing the patch. Removing custom content doesn't seem to work, nor does the MTS manual patcher.

Is there anything I can do about this before I resort to a full reinstall of everything? Anything I can do to prevent this issue in the future if I do that reinstall?

EDIT: I have official copies of all the expansions and the core game, and arred stuff packs and store content. I run everything through the decrapifier and s3rc. I also have most of my cc and older store goods in .package format, to save space and loading times.
3  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Broken Adventure Board on: 2011 January 25, 05:37:35
Am in France and absolutely nothing is showing up on the adventure board. Yes, I've waited a few days and tried over and over. Yes, I've tried clicking on other Opportunities (including home ones). I have not completed all the quests, not even close, this is a newbie traveler. A google search reveals that a lot of people have this issue, especially in France and post-LN, but no actual solutions to the issue. I have no CC at all. (and admittedly not AwesomeMod... yet. And if that'll solve it, let me know)

Seriously, fuck you, EA.
4  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: THE HORROR: The REAL TS3 Scoop As It Unfolds on: 2009 May 20, 18:50:42
Opinion thus far:

The good:

Like the lack of loading screens, and the fact that the whole 'hood is free for your sims to explore. I rarely sent my sims out in 2, as it was so slow.
The ability to make woods, colors, and patterns match is nice. I wish they did that ages ago.
Like some of the CAS modifications, and that hats have their own category.
Like using objects in your inventory. Very nice. I saw a guy using his laptop at the beach.
Sim to Sim interaction seems a bit more realistic or at least enjoyable to me now.
The ability to have various weights makes everyone a lot less same-y.
No ape-faces on the townies thus far.
The trees, ground, some bushes, and a few other things look great.
Love the traits!

The bad:

The sims all look... off. Even the skinny ones look like one of those aged celebrities who put too much silicon into their faces. Also, playdoh.
The graphics don't seem all that much of a step up from Sims 2. Still some jaggies, and some things look pretty much the same as they did in 2.
Not enough stuff in Buy Mode and CAS. More on this later.
Everything looks kind of dark to me.
Doesn't seem like there is all that much to do, but this might mean I need to spend more time playing it.
Lots of bugs, sounds like. Though I haven't encountered one... yet.
If they are not going to allow custom content/mods/hacks, then that's a deal-breaker.
All those sliders in CAS, and yet still everyone looks the same.
The pathfinding seems just as retarded as ever. Does it really need to take 3 RL minutes for two sims to figure out that, yes, they are going to throw a ball?
Sounds like they broke genetics. Ugh. I DNW ugly babies/kids.

The iffy:

Not sure about the enforced Legacy thing yet. I like townies aging, but DO want to maintain strict control over my families.
Fast Forward seems to only last as long as the action you put it on.
Not used to the control scheme yet.
Hard to get around town.
Moodlets... meh.

Overall:

My experience with this game is being really influenced by how little there is in it, and the knowledge that EA again will attempt to rape us all with EPs, Stuff Packs, and Sim Store Stuff. I've followed this game since Sims 1... and I am tired of giving EA huge sums of money for a few freaking bread-crumbs. There needed to be more things from 1 and 2 in here. A LOT more things. Hobbies, for instance. And weather. Perhaps pets. Those were all great things that need to be a base-game, not an expansion pack. I don't want to buy a 'Nightlife' EP for a third time, or a 'Pets' one, or whatever thing they are going to re-hash.

I guess I'll play the game a bit more, and will await more news. Until then, color me pretty underwhelmed.
5  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / "But I don't wanna work!" on: 2007 March 02, 21:26:34
I'm having a rather interesting and annoying bug. Essentially, a sim will go to work... then reappear inside their house about a sim hour later. Of course, this counts as them not going to work.

So far this has happened to me with the same sim on two different jobs. The first was the level 5 Education and 2nd was level 1 Adventurer. I had played with another family previously and not had this problem.
6  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Can't get Greek Charter on: 2007 February 10, 15:22:28
I did try that. Even switched between the cheap phone and the newer more expensive phone.
7  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Can't get Greek Charter on: 2007 February 10, 13:53:32
There was only one phone on the lot. However, your mention of cell phones made me try something. Turns out I was able to get a charter, but only via cell. Weird!
8  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Can't get Greek Charter on: 2007 February 10, 12:36:07
So my options are to wait it out or keep trying? Alright. I've gone back to the house a few times over the last few days, but I guess I just need to try harder. Or more. Give it some time.

Oh, I did do a search back in the forums. It looks like at least one other person had this issue. The person reporting the problem never replied back on what/if their issue got fixed, though.

Could the issue be something with a corrupted lot? I've had weird stair problems with another lot by the same creator.
9  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Can't get Greek Charter on: 2007 February 10, 12:15:47
Having another issue with my game, and again with Uni. This one is on a residential lot. I have two CAS sims on it and I'd like to make it a greek lot. Both residents, when they try and call for the charter pick up the phone and dial it... then immediately hang up. No charter.

Yes, I've tried forcing an error. Yes, I've tried reloading the house a few times. Yes, I've removed the greek letters and replaced the phone. Yes, I've tried removing non-Awesome hacks. Heck, I even disabled all custom content and this still L#$@# happened.

....Maxis bug? Something else?
10  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Alien Eyes Contacts on: 2007 February 10, 12:08:43
Wow, interesting info... and love the contacts too! Thank you very much! Smiley
11  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Alien Eyes Contacts on: 2007 February 05, 11:09:42
I just had a lovely little alien baby born into the game, but she's stuck with her father's eyes despite a few reloadings. That's what I get for using customs, I guess. As soon as she's a toddler and I can drag her over a mirror, I'd like to do something about this. I've found alien eye contacts here and there, but none that look just like the Maxis default ones. Does something like this even exist? Is there another way to solve my problem?

Thanks!
12  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Busted Stairs on: 2007 February 05, 11:07:05
My hero!  Cheesy
13  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Busted Stairs on: 2007 February 05, 08:28:18
I did try the 'force error' then 'reset' thing, yeah.

I was fearing that. Better go dig up the cheat for lot zone changing. Build Mode in Dorms has no stairways, stupidly enough.
14  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Busted Stairs on: 2007 February 05, 07:07:14
I'm using one of the Brixham dorms I got over at MTS2, and while I love the building I've had some issues with the stairway. Somehow, it seems to be broken. No one can go up it, and it's unusable. I've tried resetting the object, but no go. Ditto for moving a sim out and then back in. I think in another neighborhood, I used this dorm and had the exact same problem, too.

So what can I do? I did a search of the forums but nothing turned up. I'm hoping to avoid having re-zone the loat, re-place the stairs, and then rezone it again (...stupid unmodifyable even when no one is living there dorms!). Will this happen again?

Thank you!
15  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Tutorial: Clean custom neighbourhoods + townie creation (updated for Pets) on: 2007 January 30, 13:00:31
Just to doublecheck...

I'm going to be doing a custom 'hood tonight, no townies. I'm looking at the most recent walk-through for this (the one a page back) and I'm wondering one thing (and sorry if someone already said something about it and I stupidly missed it):

What about Pets? Is there a safe way to a) Keep the pets npcs/data in the game or b) restore it later? Is having no strays due to deletion in SIMPE a VBT? Am I going to have to uninstall Pets before cleaning everything up and re-install it later?

*goes to re-read the walkthrough a few more times before she tries this tonight*
16  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Messed up neighborhood thumbnail/preview on: 2007 January 28, 20:27:50
Errrr, actually now that I've tried doing the above, it's still not working. WTH.

I'll try it again a few times, but with different images. This is really quite annoying!
17  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Messed up neighborhood thumbnail/preview on: 2007 January 28, 18:10:08
Thank you! Smiley
18  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Messed up neighborhood thumbnail/preview on: 2007 January 28, 16:27:10
Soon after backing up my newest 'hood in Sim PE, I noticed a strange error: The neighborhood preview/thumbnail (the one you see when you are asked to select a neighborhood to play) looks strange. Specifically, it now looks like a mostly-white grid.

I can still play in it just fine, it looks perfectly normal once you are in. Still, I'd like to get the thumbnail to look normal again.

How can I do this?
19  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Looking for Pet-Friendly Hacks on: 2007 January 16, 20:47:25
I used to have several useful hacks, but can't find versions that are Pet-approved anywhere! I'm wondering if anyone here knows a version of these hacks that they trust that works...

1) Community Party (the ability to throw parties of any sort on community lots via cellphones)

2) Sleep on Community Lots (all I have now is 'relax' :/)

Thank you!
20  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Looking for a few things... on: 2006 July 16, 16:23:39
Just the other day, I stupidly did something that resulted in the loss of my downloads folder. Now I'm desperately trying to find some of my favorite things again. Can anyone direct me to the following things?

1) Motoki's fixed OFB hair mesh
2) The 'Tenacious D' dredds
3) The OFB chicken bonus stuff
4) The little car toddlers could drive

Thank you very much!
21  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Anyone want a spare mascot download code? I got extras! on: 2006 March 03, 03:42:23
Or if anyone wants it, I got it emailed to me today, and I will happily send the package to whomever wants it.  Wink

Oh, me too please! If you don't mind!

I actually pre-ordered mine from EB games... but they ran out of the darn things and have no clue if they'll get it back or when. *sighs*
22  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Is this possible? Someone want to try? on: 2006 January 25, 21:07:58
This reminds me of an article I saw recently on "murder houses." Some people think real estate agents should disclose if a horrific crime has taken place in a house, and that the price should be adjusted accordingly. I don't believe in the poltergeist thing, so I feel like I wouldn't want to know. Although, if it could get me a discount....

I'm not sure where you are or what country but I thought in the U.S. it was a law that they do have to tell you. Not sure if you have to ask or if they have to volunteer the info though. I'm sure in some cases it does have an effect on the cost of the home.

I can definitely say that I Would want to know because how awful would it be to find out After you bought the house. That would just be too creepy even though I don't really belive in ghosts either. Because I Do believe in my ability to be silly and stupid about things at the most inconvenient/unexpected times.

As to the rent/lowered value thing I'm interested in something like that too but figure the loan shrubs do it well enough. I guess if you just always pay the fees and never pay off the loan that is like paying rent. My download folder is full enough already.
(note that that won't stop me from dl a hundred more things if I like them. lol)

That's true enough...

Still would love to have something that reduces the price of the lot by 50,000-100,000... like the loan shrubs do... but without the whole morgage/rent/interest thing attached to it.

Wouldn't having an item worth negative money do that? *ponders*
23  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Is this possible? Someone want to try? on: 2006 January 25, 16:21:28
kytyngirl, where did you get the weeds?

Cyclonesue at TSR. She's got a lot of 'nice' ghetto stuff.

Note, they don't look like the weeds that pop up on Sims' lawns if you don't garden. These weeds look like slightly-tall green grass.
24  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Nina and Dina bore me to tears on: 2006 January 25, 03:09:48
Actually, those two are my current favorite Sims... they've turned out very interesting in my game.

Dina married Mortimer and bore him a daughter. She's just using him for the money, of course, and soon got herself a rather snazzy make-over. Since Alexander is growing up to be a good-for-nothing pleasure Sim, she intends on completely taking over the Goth fortune-- with lots of use of Elixer of Life. She'll manipulate her daughter, Alexander, Nina, and Nina's children to get what she wants.

I really like the way she looks now with her make-over and new clothing. Gothy-- but old fashioned and elegant.

Nina has been woo-hoo-ing her way around town-- with the help of stuffing her shirt to get an impressive DD chest. Whoa. Don has knocked her up twice now, the second time gave her twins. She and her teenaged daughter weren't able to handle them, and Nina went to Dina for help. Nina is now the live-in Nanny for Dina and Mortimer and will do whatever Dina asks as long as Dina continues to help her out. I haven't yet decided if Nina is going to attempt to seduce Mortimer, or if Nina has decided to offically 'switch to the other team' since she's tired of having children. Plus I doubt she likes old men. Dina will be kicking her out of the Goth house as soon as the baby is a teen, in any case.

Everything turned out nicely for Alexander, btw, who was more than happy to have Nina's very attractive daughter move into his house. Cheesy
25  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Is this possible? Someone want to try? on: 2006 January 25, 03:00:12
Well, I had a thought as on haunted houses.  When sims die, the price is lowered.  So, kill a lot of sims over timne, and low cost!  Right?

I suppose grody wallpaper could have a negative cost and environment.

Whoa, learn something new every day!

Thank you! Smiley
