Title: Abduction in NL changes relationships?
Post by: TreyNutz on 2005 October 30, 22:15:03
I don't have NL, but I got GB'd by someone about her post (http://bbs.thesims2.ea.com/community/bbs/messages.php?&openItemID=item.81,item.41,item.23&threadID=205c615809f334064868efa2abf0c215&directoryID=81&startRow=1#950a5fa53efada8155e80137b37de1ae).  Apparently her female sim got abducted, and came back disliking her husband, and prefering females.   ???

Glitch?  New abduction consequences in NL?  I've never checked gender preference before and after abductions in the base game or in Uni before.  Hmmmm, maybe I should.

Anyway, I'm just curious if anybody here has noticed anything.

With all the studies you did on abduction and you never checked gender preference? Lol! Just kidding.  I used your study to see what my chances of having an abduction were with the hood I'm playing now.  Funny thing is, I've never had a female abducted!  I do have one teen who has the ET Reparations Grant want, so I've had her stargazing.  If she gets abducted, I'll check her gender preferences.  Of course, I'll have to see what they are now, too, but I think she likes guys.

That's a little weird.  Suppose the aliens were males who did bad things to her?  Or females who did good things? Lol!  Seriously, if she gets the friendship going well with the hubby, hopefully the relationship will get back to where it was.  I had two females who liked males, but I managed to make them lesbians by using the handheld game, so maybe she needs to try that with her couple.

I have had one female abducted that was married and other than bawling every 2 seconds about the abduction, she seemed to still have a ton of chemistry with her sim Hubby.maybe has to do with how strongly they are attracted to the opposite sex.

Using the handhelds wouldn't help, the Uni patch fixed that bug.  Sounds like a case of "SimPE to the rescue".  I have several married couples in my game where the wives prefer women (blame it on Lizzlove's woo-hoo bed!).  For some reason, it didn't seem to happen with the males.  I just sort of nudged them back the right way very gently and they're all AC-DC now instead.  Makes for more interesting carryings-on downtown.

Actually had quite an interesting scenario with one woman who had managed to turn herself into a lesbian with the woo-hoo bed.  She was Downtown and deliberately started picking on my first-ever alien - poking him, shoving him, being thoroughly nasty.  He's 10 in Nice so didn't fight back for a long timel, just kept crying.  Eventually, he had enough and started poking her back.  However, she has 7 in Nice so I couldn't understand why she was being so horrible to him in the first place.  Then it dawned on me - she was in love with his wife (no lightning bolts, though).  Once I got her sorted out and back liking men again, suddenly she was all over this guy.  Why?   Because she had two lightning bolts for him.

Lizzlove at MTS2 has an object with which you can change (or set!) gender preference, based on the white kite-like thing.

This is a true blessing for fixing Sims, or jump-setting gender preference if they have none.

Unfortunately there still is no 100% hetero mod out... I'd install it in a second.

Rather unrealistic. And how would I use TJ's "pregnancy for all" hack then? Playing all straight sims would be boring.

As far as I'm aware, the adduction code in NL didn't change at all, it's been the same since the beginning.

Thanks.  Too bad though, that would have been interesting:  male sims getting pregnant, and female sims getting their gender preference changed.

To address the other issue that's cropped up in the thread:
I have no problems with anyone wanting an all-hetero mod in their game.  But if someone actually does write an all-hetero mod, I want the all-homo version.   :)

*G* Pro-gay bigots are so amusing. It's almust as funny as forcing blind people to race hurdles and waiting for them to crash into something.

Me, I play them all. Straight, gay, bi, all colors, mixed-race couples, aliens, vampires. "Normal" names, "weird" names, goofy names. To me, the game would be very boring if everyone were the same, much like real life. But everyone should play, and be able to play, the game any way they like. It is supposed to be fun after all. :)

Just so I know we're on the same page here, Jordi, you do know that I'm the person who thinks the game should be *less* realistic, right? I wasn't intentionally criticizing your playing style; I just have no tact. Although I'm not sure what blind people have to do with this . . . Eh. Anyway.

I just make sims how they occur to me. Since I hang out with a fair number of gay or bi people, I have a fair number of gay or bi sims. Like in most areas, my sims are generally reflective of my environment, quirks, and prejudices. My closest friends are all geeks and tech people, I have a disproportionate number of Knowledge sims.

I tend to agree with you  I make sims that somewhat reflect my environement and likes and dislikes.for example the only red-haired sims in my game are the Maxis Made characters simply because I dont like red hair.so my Sims reflect that quirk in my personality. if a sim becomes gay through its own autonomous behavior I would  not change the Sim.if my Sim is a Caucasion sim and falls in love with a sim of different heritage I go with it and vice versa ifI have a African American Sim that has chemistry with a sim that is caucasian I go with it as a result my custom hoods tend to be racially and sexually diverse Just like RL. in my current hood Romance sims are disproportianate  to the rest of my neighborhood .I only have 1 fortune sim and 1 knowledge sim currently. I roll dice to choose aspiration. the only aspiration that is selectable I dont really like is fortune. simply because in RL I detest greed, however Fortune sims do need to be in my hodd to keep it more realistic for me. :)

Now see?  There ya go!  If someone doesn't have gays/bis/whatever in their game they're accused of not being diverse, whereas true diversity is an acceptance of all things, including those people who prefer to play straight couples or those who choose to play whatever combos they come up with.  That's one of the things that makes this game so great is that we all have choices in how we play, and there is no 'right' way to do it.  :D

for what its worth I dont choose  which  way my sims should go I starthem all out the same way hetero ssexual but I have had sims autonomously become gay or bisexual as I use free will for the most part for my sims. and lef to their own devices sims  do interesting things

hmm I have all the standard sorts, white, black, mexican, asian and mixes of those races but ,no lavender or snakeskin .I have a townie That is either gay  or bi I havent decided which on Sandy Bruty is but I haave seen her attempt to flirt with one of my Married Straight Female Sims only to be rejected by my Sim. I have a Cas sim that is definitrly Gay and one that is bi sexual. Ididnt make them go either way I let them autonomously choose their gender preterence

You can actually see the snakeskin one in my current avatar. There are tiny little scales & it is very well done. So far only one baby born to the second generation has inherited the skin. Now I know custom skins override Maxis ones, all my sims have custom skins so I can do a breeding program. :)

I can never get into the skins that are like that..purple...red...stuff like that..I like to maintain as much realism as possible in my game w/ the exception of alien babies popping up (or out) once in a while.

I don't have many gay familes in my game..usually only 1-2 at any given time..but I think I play straight familes more just b/c I like to have my females pop out babies a lot  lol

I usually stick to having gay couples adopt a lot of babies...that way it gets some new blood into the neighborhood gene pool.

thats what I do  if I have a gay couple they adopt toddlers and kids. but since I hate the ugly baby syndrome that comes out of the adoption pool and the adoption pool works on a last baby in first baby out system. I go into Cas  create an adult  and seven children move them in to a house go to sim pe and set the "parent" to  1 day left to live  play the adult til the grim reaper comes  and leaves I wait for the social worker to come and get the toddlers and kids   while the kid is still there I click on move tombstone to make sure the tombstone isnt sitting there when I want to play the house with a family . save and exit go to neighborhood view put the tombstone in the cemetary ,then I go to the gay couples house and have one phone the adoption service. the next day Iclick toddler or child when the social worker arrives and one of the Cas toddlers or children I created appears. I  get new blood in the neighborhood  with out deaking with the ugly baby syndrome wearing ugly maxis clothes

I've had one really pretty kid from the adoption pool, but only one!

If I have a gay couple who want kids, I used to go into simPE and treat one of them as female.  However, I've got TJ's pregnancy for all hack and I'll maybe try it sometime.

What always annoys me is that you create two joined gay sims in CAS and give them two kids, and the kids are in their memories as adopted.   Create two who are just roomies but you plan for them to get joined later, give each of them a kid, and they each had the kid with the Mystery Sim (whoever he/she is, but he/she is a very busy bunny!) and although I know the game counts adopted kids the same as natural kids, it still seems a bit unfair!

Realism. Pfffsh.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Realism? We don't need no stinkin' realism. Besides, it has a real science fictiony bent to it.

exactly thats why I decided if the adults memory is going to say they adopted that  child then I say ok  in that casr you really will adopt Im not creating a child for you only for it  to be considered adopted. I have never had a pretty child out of the adoption pool. the only way I get cute kids is to make them my self

The pretty one I had was a little girl that Coral and Herb adopted, she's really cute!  All the other kids I've adopted have been adopted by gay male couples, and have been boys, and they've been ugly, bad-tempered - you name it!  which is why now I prefer my gay sims to have their own kids!

I cant say as I blame you having had the same issue   with temperment occur. hence why Istarted making elders with Kids etc and resetting them to 1 sim day to live  so the adoption pool would get cute kids with better temperments. I have some really adorable born in game Toddlers right now that were born to a sim who is well known for turning out gorgeous kids. I got this sim from Brynne and now Justin the sim I got from Brynne has  gotten married and his wife is expecting a baby so the kid should be gorgeous

I did a test Run with Don Lothario why him  you might ask; simple he lived alone. I made  a Mom and and six adorable toddlers in CAS stuck them in Dons House  moved the the mom out and had don use Inge's painting to put all 6 toddlers up for adoption. I then had hiim call 6 days in a Row to adopt a baby and each day one of the   toddlers I created was brought back to Don Lothario. unfortunately my game crashed due to a corrupted saved sims folder and I had to do a complete reinstall ie had to delete the Sims 2 folder and start over

Well, whenever I've adopted I've done it without any hacks, so maybe that's different.  I do remember, though, that Lucy Burb got taken by the social worker and I tried getting sims to adopt a child in the hopes someone in the family could get her back, but it didn't work.

Before I had the no abduction hack, I had a toddler taken by the social worker. When I adopted a child with another family, I got the abducted toddler. I've only adopted once, so I don't know if this would always hold true. That was with the base game.

I've just made a random 10% of my sims gay, so I might use Bangelnuts' idea of making some babies for the gene pool, I like playing quite realistically so some couples will be adopting. Cheers Bangelnuts.
