I have not tried it, but I think your sim must plan the honeymoon before getting married, then get married in the home neighbourhood and then immediately after the wedding party they will go to the vacation neighborhood.

Aha! I did wonder about the salsa music. I normally play with music muted because it annoys me so much. I turned the music on to see if there was some local flavour and all I got was salsa Tongue
353  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Servos vs. Tents - Broken? on: 2007 September 17, 15:26:44
Servos should not be on vacation, rolling lethal wants to soak in the hot springs, they should be home looking after toddlers and generally being useful. And under NO circumstances invite a servo on a vacation as a guest.

They do recharge when sleeping in a bed though, MUCH faster than recharging in sunlight. Otherwise we couldn't have vampire servos.

I make my sims macro-clean before I let them check out. But to my delighted surprise, I actually saw a hotel maid clean up a dirty plate yesterday.

I am hoping that hotels do not reset, as I added some bookshelves and other fun items for rainy days. Also, buffet tables! I use the Pet Stories one. It means that all passers-by can help themselves but once each sim has the "room service" memory it's the way to go.

The tour guide seems to arrive some time after the sims do, so if they check in at a hotel latish in the evening, they can go on a night tour.

I have been playing for a week and no charlatans have been seen thus far.
355  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Bon Voyage dissatisfaction on: 2007 September 17, 12:38:12

Try picking up the item in buy mode then pressing shift while placing it. Hopefully it will duplicate the item.

The level of co-ordination required to do this may be too much for me, but I will try, thanks.

Re not being able to sleep in hotels, I noticed that sometimes the action to ''check in'' drops from the queue, and then the sims cannot sleep in the beds until I queue the check in again.

You should try the FFS Lot Debugger

I put this object on every single one of my lots. Read the manual first!

Zazazu, thanks for the Donut terrain. I used it to add an extra Downtown neighbourhood and my sims are now moving to beach houses in droves. The children get home from school and head straight for the beach.

I had a bunch of plant sims that I didn't know what to do with (as I made my first ever plant sim grow 4 plantbabies in quick succession, just because I could, then I got bored with them...) they live on a beach lot now in a state of bliss.

Building community lots is now a lot more fun. I built a community beach with a camp site (and shipwreck), so my poor sims who cannot afford a vacation can spend as long as they like there. I love it that they can sleep in the tents. Also, the first sim baby conceived in a tent has been born and named Lilo.

Grr. Some furnishings in premade hotels are not available in buy mode. I thought I might use the eyedropper function to duplicate some things, but that does not work. I have not yet tried going in via the neighborhood view though.

In SA the 24 hour clock is widely used.

HEE. My preorder of BV has been dispatched.

I had no problems this time.

AHA! I have that one in place. In fact, I have the entire moreawesomethanyou-bv.zip file in at present and update it regularly (pats self on back)

If you are "that" Toast, then this is simply typical of the behaviour of your sims as a whole, please run with it Tongue

I, on the other hand, have a teen who still only has a "grow up" aspiration. I have sent him to college, hopefully his aspiration will be satisfied once he is there. However, he was a TSR Challenge sim, so more likely to be borked as they provide occupied lots.
363  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Bon Voyage dissatisfaction on: 2007 September 14, 09:10:06
People have posted about their playable sims motives decaying on vacation with no visible effect. I am having problems however with the guests.

I am playing a family of 4 (2 elder males, 1 elder female and 1 servo) who have taken 2 guests (1 servo and one adult male werewolf) along on vacation. They have a vacation house but also stay at some of the resorts so that they can get the appropriate vacation memories.

The servo guest remained behind at a community lot after everyone else had walked home. His energy was low, and it just got lower until it bottomed out. Nothing happened, and I had no more playables on the lot. I had to use maxmotives to get his motives up, then he too walked home.

Also, when I checked them all into a hotel for a night the servo guest did not seem to be able to recharge, nor did he autonomously sleep or nap. He repeatedly tried recharging for a second and then stopped. At least the werewolf guest looked after himself autonomously, ate food when room service was delivered and took baths and so on.

Back at the house, both the servo and the werewolf turned into idiots, who just stood there and did nothing while their motives decayed. They did not respond when sims tried to talk to them. I used moveobjects to move the werewolf (who was standing giggling to himself and getting hungrier and hungrier) out of the bathroom so the other sims could use it, then he seemed fine after that.

Re the jewelry - when sims are buying piercings, I can hardly see what they are buying, as the picture is too small and the picture resolution is just not good enough. Some of my sims are going to end up with lips, noses and eyebrows pierced.

Aaargh. Thanks for the warning about the food. Would it help to delete all existing fridges and replace them with new ones?
366  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Bon Voyage dissatisfaction on: 2007 September 13, 08:07:23
I forgot to mention the issue of child wants in my previous moan. Children persistently roll wants for A+ report cards whilst on vacation.

Regarding the lack of activities available for children, I have not yet tried to edit the existing hotel lots but plan to put some indoor recreation items such as Mah-Jongg tables and bookshelves in the hotel foyers. In addition, I will make sure that all children have handheld games in their inventories before leaving on vacation.
367  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: Wants & Fears Sanity "Death To All Nesses" Public Beta Edition on: 2007 September 13, 08:00:08
Could children be stopped from rolling wants for A+ report cards whilst on vacation? I haven't played any teens or YA's in vacation neighbourhoods yet but I assume that inappropriate academic wants would appear for them too.
368  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Bon Voyage dissatisfaction on: 2007 September 12, 12:00:35
My dissatisfactions so far:

*longer load times, but these are only to be expected.
*general whininess and whinging (no hacks in my game yet)
*actions dropping out of queues
*hail and snow on a tropical island, which forced the sims indoors, combined with (pre-made) hotels that have no indoor fun objects other than TV. although it is very funny as the sims shriek when the hail hits them on the head. again, what is not funny is the "go here" action drops out of the queue so that they STAY outside shrieking and holding their heads.
*hotel room door options do not work properly. i used "do not disturb" but this did not stop other members of the family from coming in to watch TV (rather than using the TV in their own suite)
369  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: Anti-Redundancy *CRITICAL FOR BVp0* on: 2007 September 12, 08:48:30
Yay!

Is that guy who blathers on about the weather a tour guide? I so wished I had the option to SMITE.
370  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Bon Voyage satisfaction on: 2007 September 12, 08:44:58
I started playing last night, and so far I am impressed. The game installed and loaded with no problems or issues whatsoever, and I bypassed the launcher. I decided to send one of my original Strangetown families plus one guest to an island holiday, and as they have mega$$ I had them buy a beach house. The first thing that I liked was when they grabbed their suitcases to leave for the trip. Then, when they arrived at the beach house, I was thrilled at the details and prettiness. I sent them all to play on the beach first thing.

The guest is not controllable so he goes everywhere in his pyjamas, which is amusing. Also, one of my family members is a servo, I was a bit worried that servos were not going to be able to go on vacation as they cannot go to Uni (even using Christialov's hack).

Build and buy mode are enabled at their house, which came sparsely furnished. I was very pleased that inventories are accessible at the vacation house too.

There is a lot of extra gameplay added. I have read about the various things to do but not exactly how to do them, so that is going to be fun finding out.

Chance cards while on tours also make things very interesting. I got a disastrous chance card on my very first tour.

The trees, plants, and decorative objects are going to add a lot to building options. It was strange playing with no hacks or CC but I am going to put the compatible stuff in tonight.

371  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Sims Won't Marry on: 2007 September 11, 14:10:49
Second, this tangent actually relates to something I've been meaning to ask for a long time. In general, I hate TSR, but I do like one thing of theirs: Challenges. They are loads of fun. However, they involve installing a simpack of an occupied lot. Now, far as I can tell the sims aren't carrying memories of other sims. But installing the simpack would end in the sim & lot being in every 'hood's catalog. So this means gunk clogging all my 'hoods and possible issues down the road if I just delete them. Sure, I could Deleted 2 them, but that takes effort. Is there a way to split the sim(s) and house of an occupied lot and install them separately, therefore placing the sim directly into the target 'hood and no other?

I also play the TSR challenges. As far as I can tell, because the lots are occupied, once the lot is placed in a neighbourhood it vanishes from the houses bin.
372  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Name Change on: 2007 September 11, 09:51:18
Oh no, not again! This happened to my game after I installed Seasons.

As I live in darkest Africa and my BV pre-order will only be arriving at the end of the month at the earliest, I decided to save my sanity by getting a *cough*sample*cough* via torrents, and hope to install it tonight. I have made a note to not save the game if this crops up. I spent hours with the lot debugger correcting all the names the last time, as I had saved.
373  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Apparently, My Sims Can't Drown in the Ocean (Image Laden) on: 2007 September 07, 13:26:06
are inventories accessible on holiday lots?
if so, take along a cow plant and see what happens...
374  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Hydrobot watering veggies on: 2007 September 03, 10:08:47
i just built an extra building with toilets and showers in it, and put BUY in. but i regret not moving the family to a smaller lot when i started playing. once i had deleted all the extra sprinklers, generally sorted out the yard and done extra building, i was too lazy to move them.
375  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Hacked Diploma? on: 2007 September 02, 11:10:54
all my CAS sims have diplomas and uni memories, thanks to the lot debugger. my servos do, too. i have not run into a single problem thus far, and the extra want slots have definitely resulted in less aspiration failure.
