26  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Flagrant System Error on: 2010 January 03, 05:46:36
I have a new Flagrant System Error that I haven't seen anybody answer or even report to. When I start my game up, it says that my version of Awesomemod has expired as of 22 hundred hours and I need a new version of awesomemod to continue using it. Then it shuts my Sims 3 down. Common sense says I need a new awesome mod, but reinstalling the zip didn't do anything. Do I need to refresh my aweconfig? Sorry if this has already been explained or gone over, but I couldn't find anything easily that mentioned this sort of thing. What should I do?

i am having this same error, and have checked all my mods, but i did not find another copy of it. idk what to do. plz help
Is/are your game(s) fully updated?  For base game only, this means to 1.8 and for WA this means to 2.3.  If not, AwesomeMod will be incompatible as Pescado is not maintaining two versions anymore.

If you are fully patched, then you may have an old copy of AwesomeMod lurking somewhere in your folders.  You will need to perform a search to ensure that is not the case.
27  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: World Adventures - Family Vanishes While on Vacation - Any Fixes? on: 2010 January 02, 22:04:09
I've got the same problem. I've got an earlier save where the sim 'head bust' does indeed show while in the hood (Egypt), but when I try to return home via the phone, the loading bar appears, only to load Egypt again.
I tried to edit town in the home hood and change the active family, but its greyed out because they are not currently in the home hood.
How can I get this sim home again?
Just a suggestion, but if you have Twallan's Supercomputer, you could try "Recover missing Sims".
28  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Great. No WA and no Sims 3. on: 2010 January 02, 00:43:21
I'm sorry for digging this thing up, but Sims 3 still doesn't work. Uninstalled WA, put in awesomemod, it's already patched to 1.5[insert lots of numbers here]. I can't figure out what the problem is. Click it, screen turns black, and desktop crash. :/
You are saying it's already patched to "1.5[insert lots of numbers here].  First of all, the base game is up to 1.8 and the expansion is up to 2.3.  AwesomeMod is not compatible with any previous versions of the game/patches, only the latest.  Pescado discontinued everything but the current test version.

So, in order to be able to use AwesomeMod at all, you need to fully patch your games.  Perhaps this is your problem.

Now, for my question. Is there a command in AM to reset borked genealogy? One of my Sims came back from vacation with his tree fubared. His spouse, kids, sister and parents all still show him on their trees, but I can't even open his at all. Help?
You may be able to repair his tree using Twallan's Supercomputer.  I have copied this bit from his post on the website he is hosted on (on the Supercomputer under Sim>Advanced):

Family : Contains a sub menu allowing the user to change the genealogy of the active sim
Add Child : Adds a new child to a sim
Add Parent : Adds a new parent to a sim
Add Sibling : Adds a new sibling to a sim
Remove Child : Removes an existing child from a sim
Remove Parent : Removes an existing parent from a sim
Remove Sibling : Removes an existing sibling from a sim

This will also add collateral relationships, if applicable (such as grandparent, brother, sister, etc.)

Here's the link to his new home in case you want any other info:  http://ts3.tscexchange.com/index.php?PHPSESSID=e4982f139af701ef96f059a8fbb25c08&topic=995.0,

I suggest you follow Witch's instructions to you earlier, in one of the many threads here you've posted in, and "turn in your computer, explaining that you're too stupid to use it".  I am monitoring you now.  You obviously have a problem following the simplest of directions.  Perhaps you are too stupid to live?  And believe me, you have previously seen teh (sic) "ultimate restraint".  I don't think you should keep posting.

I havn't seen any of Witches responses because I have no fucking idea what threads you're talking about.
Wrong person, you have (unfortunately) chosen the same unoriginal avatar as Audrey. I meant the message for her.

If you want to insult Witch, who is a regular here, you can forget it.  Besides, I've already determined that you're not worth it.  Not sure what your "original" (NOT) post was about, but I DON'T CARE.  Now, I'm "Yelling At You."  Figure it out.  I am currently not inclined to help you.  And,  I sincerely doubt that anyone else is going to rush in to be your "knight in shining armour".

I don't think I will ever offer you any advice again ... and if I don't then surely you're screwed on this site. anyway.  Perhaps, Audrey, you will need to return to BBS since you can't even follow simple directions.  Funny. how we keep crossing paths, isn't it?

Snowbawl, I'm almost brain-dead here ... THIS IS NOT GOOD!  Wish I knew you IRL. And, to top it off, there are a bunch of other "id 1iots" one must deal with!  Apathy is one thing (and I have definitely got that theme goin' on) , but what about the "cool kids" (sounds like something you would not want to be) posting stupid threads about how much you hate someone you don't give a shit about at all?  VERY interesting!  I don't get it ... and, moreover, can't be "arsed" to care...

34  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: 2.3+CC bullshit. I refuse to reinstall AGAIN. on: 2009 December 27, 05:57:48
I think the problem must be that I was patching with international patches and had changed the SKU code to 2 from 1. I am going to try dl-ing US versions and see if that fixes it. Otherwise nothing was modified. This is why I try not to mess around with my computer, I am so not flight checked for this. Tongue
Those ending with "2" are the international versions.  The U.S. versions are the ones ending in a "1".  Don your flight helmet, and proceed with caution!  May the force be with you!

Coconnor, any chance you can upload your cache files and they will work for me??
I PM'd you and was trying to upload the file, but it's too large for 4-Shared.  I then tried to zip just the file ending in .dbc and upload that ~ also too large.  I'm not sure if it would have worked anyway.  Tomorrow, I'll try another source when I get a chance.  I'm on the Board of my Homeowner's Association, am the webmaster, created the website and have an FTP server with that, so I'll try that and if I can make that work, I'll send you a link to the file.
36  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesomod discussion/questions/helpful tips thread on: 2009 December 27, 04:06:35
The manual and wiki say that awesomod will implement AwesomeMod jealousy routines but doesn't really expand on how it adjusts them.

I found this: http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php/topic,17154.0.html which says that the mod restricts jealousy to anyone of boy/girlfriend status or above and to sims being in the same room as each other. Is this everything it does?

Copy the Resource.cfg file and paste the copy into The Sims 3 directory, but not into Mods>Packages. Um, the resource config file is already in the Sims 3 directory as per point 1 as it is part of the framework file.
I would assume you're supposed to let the new copy overwrite the old copy. If not then this isn't as obvious as I first thought.
Yes, overwrite the original file.  You may have to modify the file, dependent on how you have set up your folders, and whether or not you have WA.  It is becoming exponentially more complicated.

Not speaking about you, however, idiots are already failing to follow simple directions and complaining that it is too confusing.  I suppose that is to be expected, and can't say I wasn't warned.
37  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: 2.3+CC bullshit. I refuse to reinstall AGAIN. on: 2009 December 27, 03:29:37
Let me tell you something.  They are not doing this (pick one) a) for "us", b) for shits & giggles; or C) for any number of other reasons.  They ARE making a profit, and one that they are trying to expand upon by 1) the EA store and the new strategy of selling the game and expansions at a higher price by bundling in so called "free" store points.  This is (pure & simple) a marketing strategy.

They might not be making a big enough profit (in their eyes) but, they are, certainly, profiting.  Otherwise, there would not be a Sims 3 game at all.  Period.  End of story.  It's a company, and that's all there is at the end of the day.
38  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: 2.3+CC bullshit. I refuse to reinstall AGAIN. on: 2009 December 27, 02:52:20
I talked to my b-i-l,  he informs me that the reason they use regions is related to copyright laws. International copyright law apparently requires the use of regions, if EA doesn't use the region system, then they forfeit any protections under international law as it relates to copyright infringement. ou

He also commented that the Sims games do not provide sufficient revenue, in comparison to other games, for EA to actually spend any money on it. He works for Activision, so he naturally shares my disdain for EA, but also comments that no other company will make a game like this because the revenue stream is to small.

How I hates them, my precious, I hates them, ... (but I needs my Sims fix, dammit. Tongue)
So, what you're saying, in effect, is that the Sims 3 (and expansions, present & future) is what's  known as a "loss leader" for EA?  Ask your brother-in-law if this is what he means.  I doubt their profits are this low. If they were, we would undoubtedly be hearing about how since they are not generating sufficient revenue off the Sims 3 franchise to sustain it, that there may not be a future.  The "caek is a lie".
39  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Patch 1.8/2.3 plus Create a World Released on: 2009 December 25, 19:47:53
It's entirely possible.  There has been talk that EA "broke the launcher" with the latest patch and so it seems they may come out with a patch to address that.  Who knows when that will be?  Also, I don't know what, if anything, else it may break or fix.  Undoubtedly, there will be a way around all that as well.  But, I agree, a game should not be this much work.
40  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Patch 1.8/2.3 plus Create a World Released on: 2009 December 25, 05:59:48
Yes.  I had all my content installed before I patched, so those were the .dbc files already in DCCache.  I did not have to reinstall most of my stuff.  I had moved out my downloads folder, DCCache file, Saves, Mods before reinstalling/patching.  It pays to back-up your stuff.
41  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Patch 1.8/2.3 plus Create a World Released on: 2009 December 24, 02:33:30
I am running 1.8/2.3 - store-bought versions of both games.  As you know, AwesomeMod is updated frequently, so is also frequently changed in my game.  I try to update before each time I play to make sure I have the current version.  I played for awhile last night, so it was the one posted yesterday - 12/22/09 @ 4:22 AM.  I have now downloaded the one from today - 12/23/09 @ 10:10 AM but will most likely not get to play the game tonight.

The laptop I play on has a Intel Core 2 Duo T7500 processor @ 2.20 GHz per core; 4 GB RAM, running Windows Vista 64-bit and an NVidia GEForce 8600M GT video card with 512 MB RAM.  Surely not the best, but better than my old desktop, which couldn't run it.  One of these days I'll be able to replace it, but I'll also have to replace my son's desktop which is almost as old!
42  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Patch 1.8/2.3 plus Create a World Released on: 2009 December 24, 00:44:03
@Batman:  That seems odd.  I tend to think it is the CC and not the Resource.cfg.  I'm using the resource.cfg I posted, and I have no problem with my custom content ~ as far as I can tell, all of my store stuff is in game and what little package files I left after the last patch seem to be showing up fine as well (I had begun moving some of it back but when this new patch came out, with all the trouble people have had, I moved most of it back out.)  I copied the content of the DCCache file to Mods>Packages, but also left it where it was.  Game is running fine and has not been crashing.

@simfan:  Yes, I guess.  I don't even know if you re-download any "shared" files whether they will install.  When I went to TSR to tell them not to direct people to "google" me on MATY, but instead to post the contents of the Resource.cfg file on their site, I noticed that a lot of them seem to be saying that EA has "broken the launcher" with this patch, rather than having a more "insidious" intent.  Of course, this could be bullshit ... and there are people complaining, but since people here have also had problems with the launcher, perhaps this is true and they will again "patch the patch" in an attempt to fix it.  If that happens, maybe things will work as usual.  I, in fact, had a problem with the launcher when I used the World Adventures shortcut, but when I used the shortcut for the base game it worked fine.  So, I don't know what to think.

I'm really NOT an expert at this at all.  Just reading and observing here, and a somewhat more advanced knowledge of the workings of my computer.  No modding experience at all, though.
43  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Patch 1.8/2.3 plus Create a World Released on: 2009 December 23, 14:37:54
:-? strange, i've converted my store into package (roundly 280 files w/o River) and i don't seem to notice the extra long load time, what type of load time you're mentioning
(2.3 GB of RAM :|)
Not load time; I'm speaking of the lag that many people have experienced with package files since the last patch came out.
44  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Patch 1.8/2.3 plus Create a World Released on: 2009 December 23, 03:30:03
I hope some better solution to this situation will appear. The conversion of store files into package files lags my game so much it won't start.

**Edit
My game will not start with package conversions expect the modern minimalist set. Could this be because it is newer than the others?
If you read the thread, you would have known that this issue exists before converting them.  I hope you backed them up.  I have no idea why only the Modern Minimalist set works.  I did not convert any of my Sims3.packs to packages because I already knew it would slow down the game.

Try cutting all your package conversion files to your desktop and then starting your game to see what difference it makes.
45  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Patch 1.8/2.3 plus Create a World Released on: 2009 December 22, 06:47:26
I don't know if it's good to compress the files at this point, given that we're having problems installing them.  I think you better search MOAR before making that decision.  But, before this we were using S3rc which is available here at MATY under the "Armoire of Invincibility".

As far as the Process Monitor, if you read through this thread there are links, I believe, to the thread that has the Process Monitor in it (page 11 of the thread and the Delphy screen shots are on page 12 of the thread).  It took me less time to go there and copy the link to the thread than to try to find it here, so here is the link:  http://www.modthesims.info/showthread.php?t=379085.
46  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Patch 1.8/2.3 plus Create a World Released on: 2009 December 22, 00:37:02
Coconner- thanks for all the help and congrats for making TSR unwillingly suck your cawk.  Wink

Quick question though, I have been idle from the game a while (before even the FIRST fucked up patch) and didn't know of the issues they presented (dumb of me to believe EA wouldn't shit on their own game/fanbase). Any way, I didn't install the last two store updates and therefore they aren't installed. Can I convert sims3pack to packages and install them to the mod>packages? If so, does Delphy's Sims3Pack Multi Installer (http://www.modthesims.info/download.php?t=364038&c=1&ht=0&page=5&pp=25#startcomments) process this conversion or just simply extract the files?

Thanks!
You're welcome!  Hmm, I'm a bit perplexed about the TSR thing.  I visited their site and posted directly to the moderator and to the guy who first brought me to attention telling them that they're free to post the contents of the file (it's not proprietary information), however, I do not want them to direct people to Google me.

I'm not the best one to ask about the other issues, I have never extracted Sims3 packs to packages.  As of the last patch, the package files were a problem in that they slowed the game way down.  You may want to ask Skadi about the method to use or try searching "converting Sims 3.packs to packages"  and, in fact, she has done this already to some of the files and they are in the Pudding Factory:  http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php/topic,16949.msg508899.html#msg508899.

Once you have the packages installed, you will most likely need to go to MTS2 where they have a program called "Process Monitor" (courtesy of TickleOnTheTum) and Delphy posted a screenshot of a filter (but there are more).  A bit tedious (like everything else with this game is becoming), but it may help.
47  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Patch 1.8/2.3 plus Create a World Released on: 2009 December 21, 08:39:17
Thank you Coconner!!  This works.  I have deleted the offending files and the load time is down from 45 mins to 3-4.  Thanks for the tip.  Now all I need is to get me sims3pack files back.
How many files are there in DCCache which need to be copied over to the packages file?  I see only 2.  dccbt.ebc and missingdeps.idx.  Should there be more files?

Editing to say that I also ran the launcher and the sims3pack stuff which I had downloaded from other sites is now showing up, but not the Sims3 site stuff which I had before.  Some of it is no loss but there is a nice suit that I want back.

Now the next step is to install World Adventures without causing too much damage to my computer.

What is likely to happen?  I am assuming that patch 2.3 is the one that comes down the launcher when WA is installed and again I am assuming that Awesomemod is up to speed with that patch as it does say 1.8/2.3 which is the one I have currently installed.  Is Create a World also going to come down the launcher as well, because I am not interested in this and how do I stop it if this is the case?

Audrey:  You should have at least 1 file with the ending .dbc in the DCCache.

Editing: suddenly the .dbc file is showing up in my DCCache and also missingdeps.idx.

Should I follow your instructions a few pages back before I install WA or after?
Yes.  I don't know whether it matters at all.  I did this after both games were installed and patched (and everything seems to be showing).
Another question Coconnor.  The sims3pack files which are now showing up in your game, are they legally obtained, because mine came down via Torrent, so will you method work with arred content?

Brand, I have to say I heartily agree with you.  They seem to be doing everything in their power to make simming as miserable an experience as possible for those who arred.  But, they are in the business of making money and they think they have found a way to thwart us, but they did not reckon on the clever peeps here and on MTS.
Some legally obtained, some shared.  And just so you know, credit for this is not mine.  There were a couple of others here who found this method ... I only copied what they had done.

I thought so, brownlustgirl.  This is the blue lot issue, yes?  I never had it personally, and so don't know much about it.
