126  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: sims meeting in vacations on: 2008 July 29, 02:49:56
I think entire chapters of Awesomeland have been founded on this concept.

In other words: yes, I believe playable families can meet up with each other on vacation community lots, if they are both on vacation at the same locale at the same time.
127  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Downtownies as customers / Moving lots to subhood on: 2008 July 29, 02:27:15
Home businesses cannot be moved. Period. And NEVER move an occupied lot ANYWHERE. NEVER place an inhabited lot into the simbin.

Does that apply to just moving them around? F'rinstance, if I wanted to plop the Broke trailer across the street from the Goth mansion to piss Mortimer* off, that would be a VBT?

*I doubt he'd care, but one can dream.

As long as you don't bin it while it's occupied by sims, you're fine. Fortunately, to move the Broke trailer across the street from the Goths only requires for you to make sure there's room for it, pick it up using the 'move lot' tool, and put it in the new place. No binning required; therefore, not a VBT.

And you're right: Mortimer will neither notice nor care. Cheesy  I suppose you could have Brandi or one of the kids look through the telescope to piss him off, though.
128  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Hack for canceling out of automated prepare food from fridge? on: 2008 July 29, 02:17:01
Mine were stuffing face too but wouldn't prepare a meal so I added a hack to stop face stuffing.  I'm wondering if that stopped them from eating altogether or if you have to let one of them bottom out to fix it.

When left to their own devices, most of my sims now only cook when they're really hungry (i.e. nearly down to desperation level), and even then only when they're not distracted by something.

Not with my sims. Hunger bar is still 3/4 full, and they're off to make lobster thermidor! I would have lots of fat sims, were it not for Dizzy's leftover mods and Pescado's noeatcrap. I still have to monitor the lazy sims for overeating, though.
129  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Fishing Interruptus on: 2008 July 29, 02:10:13
I think in my case it's mostly been autonomous fishing that is problematic, primarily the cheerleader. But since I have yet to really examine it in the game, my case is anecdotal at best.

(PS - Liz, I finally realized how I knew your signature quote... it's been nagging me for days. You quote Cordelia, I quote Xander. Smiley )
130  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Empty and Cleaned-up Templates. [UPDATED] on: 2008 July 27, 23:00:38
Sorry - typo on my part. Smiley The entire folder.
131  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Empty and Cleaned-up Templates. [UPDATED] on: 2008 July 27, 16:36:40
sumpsychochic, you just need to rename this file:

Code:
C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\The Sims 2\TSData\Res\UserData\Neighborhoods\N001

to this:

Code:
C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\The Sims 2\TSData\Res\UserData\Neighborhoods\N001-bak

That will prevent the default Pleasantview townies from spawning in new neighborhoods. For more info on creating clean custom 'hoods, check out this thread.
132  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: couple of problems on business lots: household visiting & manager skilling on: 2008 July 27, 14:53:08
I am getting two "Throw Party" menu options, with "House Party" and "Sports Party" on one, and "New Year's Bash" on the other.

Jordi already made a fix for this problem.

Throw Party menu fix for UK English players

Quote
Ever since Pets, anyone who has either Holiday Pack or Edition (both the 2005 and 2006) ones, and is playing in UK English (the 24-hour clock), has two "Throw Party" menus on the phones:
One for all standard parties, and one for the "New Year's Bash".

The cause is a typo in the Party Pack override package: EA used the ellipsis character "…" instead of three dots: "...".

Place it into Overrides folder for your latest EP.

Reporting back to say it wasn't a hack conflict and ask for further help... and you already fixed it. Thanks!

That's what I get for ARRing Ikea, I suppose. Cheesy

Edit: Hmm, this is not working. First, I added the fix to the Overrides folder for FT. When that didn't work, I backed up and replaced it in both the TSS and IKEA Overrides folder, since I ARRed them and they installed as UK. Still didn't work. Went back and replaced in all EPs/SPs back to Pets, and still not working. Tried using Pescado's Engrish to change registry to US... still not working.

One thing I noticed: in FT's Overrides folder, there was originally only one file named Overrides.package. There wasn't a HolidayNewYearsPartyPhoneCall_Override.package. The FT Overrides.package file is significantly larger than any of the previous EPs' HolidayNewYearsPartyPhoneCall_Override.package files. Could Jordi's file just be outdated? Or is there something else I have to do, such as move out families and move them back in? I'm about ready to have done with this and just live with it, but in case there is something I'm missing...

(cwykes, sorry for hijacking the thread...)
133  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: couple of problems on business lots: household visiting & manager skilling on: 2008 July 27, 13:33:18

7. Why am I getting a party option for New Year in summer?  Alana already had a roof raising New Year party (in winter).

I cannot help with your other issues, but I am getting two "Throw Party" menu options, with "House Party" and "Sports Party" on one, and "New Year's Bash" on the other. I'm about to fire up a clean game to see if it's a hack problem; will report back later.
134  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Old School Maxis: Reprised. Now MOAR Awesome. on: 2008 July 27, 01:25:30
I like it too, Mirelly. The porch is especially nice, and the exterior design/decor will fit in well with my 'hood.
135  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Fishing Interruptus on: 2008 July 26, 00:11:57
No, but I can second it. I have a couple Greek houses with ponds, and I think I've been seeing the same behavior from visitors. I haven't bothered trying with a clean game yet to see if it's hack-related, though.
136  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Sims unable to join in watching tv on: 2008 July 25, 13:12:21
To this non-awesome person, it sounds like either you're using CC TVs that haven't been updated for later EPs, or you have a conflict somewhere in your Downloads folder.

Run Paladin's HCDU to see if any TV-related conflicts can be identified. You can also run in debug mode to see if an error log is generated when you try to use the TVs. If not, then it's binary search time.
137  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Good free firewall - NOT ZoneAlarm! on: 2008 July 23, 13:33:17
Thanks, all. I think I'll try the new ZoneAlarm, since I liked it until it broke.

BTW, you can change the settings on AVG 8.0 to not scan automatically. In fact, the option is included during the setup process.

How do you change the settings, I have looked everywhere in it.

Thanks.

Open AVG 8.0
In sidebar, click 'Computer Scanner'
In the 'Schedule Scans' box, click to highlight the 'Scheduled scan' task
Click 'Edit Scan Schedule' button
Uncheck the 'Enable this Task' box (under 'Task Settings')
Save, etc.

You can then just run scans manually when you want instead of all the damn time. Smiley
138  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: How to get rid of SecuRom, NOW on: 2008 July 23, 13:20:11
Amairani, as long as you're installing onto an Administrator account, you will be just fine. Also, make sure the cracked .exe is for the patched version of Bon Voyage.

If the account does not have Administrator permissions, SecuRom will be installed when the game is installed, i.e. before you even run the game. You'll have to remove Securom before applying the cracked .exe.
139  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: Macro Control: Macrotastics on: 2008 July 23, 13:00:36
Well, thanks for the explanation. My high-neat sim kids will have to continue to clean manually or autonomously. At least they can Take Out Trash!
140  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: Macro Control: Macrotastics on: 2008 July 22, 12:42:02
You need a pool table on the lot for the option to appear. I think you may also need a stereo for dancing to work as intended.

I still want sim children to Macro-Clean. If they can garden and fish as underage slave labor, why can't they clean as well?
141  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Would sharing a Hood lead to Very Bad Things ? on: 2008 July 20, 14:16:57
Yeah, if you don't have the exact same EP/SP config, AnyGameStarter would be a good way to level the playing field.
142  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Would sharing a Hood lead to Very Bad Things ? on: 2008 July 20, 13:48:20
So, just zipping the entire Neighborhood folder and sending it back and forth after play sessions? As long as your EP/SP/patch configuration is the same, I can't think of any terminal errors that would occur in a clean game scenario. If you already have a 'hood with that N### number, you could just load it separately by generating a new The Sims 2 folder, removing the Maxis 'hoods, and then adding her 'hood in the Neighborhoods folder.

Any buy/build/body CC that is present in the lots or on the sims will have to be duplicated to show up; but if not, then those items just won't appear, or will show up as a default item. I'd suggest either zip up the CC and send it back and forth as well, or play clean.

As far as hacks: either synchronize/share what you each have, take out mega game-changing mods, or play clean. By mega game-changing mods, I mean stuff like the kitten killer, ACR, DMA sets, even Cboy's Community Time. For example: if you play with Macrotastics and your friend does not, I don't think there would be a problem as long as you don't save any lots with someone in a macro. But if she has the kitten killer and sends the 'hood to you with a pregnant teen or a sim with miscarriage memories, it'd be a bad thing if you don't have the kitten killer.

If I were to consider doing this, I'd probably prefer to play without buy/build/body CC, and then synchronize the hacks. Any other ideas out there?

All righty, then here we go. "All the time" was an overstatement on my part, but I found a couple links pretty quickly.

(It's the same user on two different boards. It's times like these that I realize how much I lurk... just call me a crazy stalker, I'm okay with it. Smiley )
145  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Adding Extra Turn-Ons In SimPE on: 2008 July 18, 23:36:57
I've seen a regular poster on another board state that he adds extra turn-ons/turn-offs all the time, with no apparent ill effect. I've never tried it myself, but I can provide links, if interested.
146  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: It are unfair! Lack of Kittuns brings morale down! on: 2008 July 17, 12:49:57
omg is there hacks that prevents them from trying to use the computer for hobbytime? Cause they get so angry when someone is using the one computer on the lot. LOL

Try TwoJeffs' Computer Fixes. I play with the no autonomy version, and have since been a much happier camper.
147  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: While out hiking, Jake met... on: 2008 July 17, 12:39:44
I find it harder to get the other items (voodoo doll, dragon scroll) when sending couples on vacation. Sometimes, after one person gets the gift, the scenario won't reset for other vacationers. Other times, it does.

Well, you can take the entire party to get the dragon legend. One sim gets the wise old man to tell the story, then once it's going have the rest of the party join. They'll all learn the legend. Nice and efficient. Smiley  (Note: have not tried with guest vacationers, because they are annoying and useless.)
148  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: What's on YOUR Wish List? on: 2008 July 17, 12:30:28
leaths, are you pre-OFB? I thought all packs since OFB (though it might be another pack, can't remember ATM) have the little house button in the upper left corner that you can click to check the value. Buy/Build modes only.

Shocked No, not pre-OFB, just unobservant stupid. I never clicked on that button because I just assumed it had something to do with the help menu. Believe me, it was worth looking like a fool just to find this out.

Baaaa!

Insert obvious joke about assuming things here.   Wink

I finally went through and got all this stuff. Thanks to everyone who's acquired and fixed these items!

as you can see it works on my end  Undecided
[image snipped]

This makes me wondering why. The Property set is wrong the entry override0resourcekeyidx for hair has the number 5 should have 2,
override1resourcekeyidx for bangs has 6 should have 3, only override2resourcekeyidx for tiara is correct with 4

Since I don't see it posted in the thread yet, I just thought I'd upload a version of the top bun with bangs and crown with the elder fixes for the SimPE-phobes. Thanks to knightguy for the original work, and Havelock for pointing us in the right direction (as always).  Cheesy
