76  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Sims 2 not responding after buying clothes on: 2010 November 29, 20:48:35
You say nothing of how many houses/buildings you've got - a big number of these greatly impacts the total file size of the neighbourhood, much moreso than the number of sims, and therefore loading/saving times as well. Unless you have a crazy amount, though, 20 minutes is still way too much. How many sims do you have - are these 50+ families normal sized? Do you use much CC? (Normal CC shouldn't affect saving time, but various dubious hacks might do funny things.) Do your sims live on big lots with huge houses and lots of objects?

Pretty much a shot in the dark. I play a merge of all the EAxis neighbourhoods, which has 80-100 families, 650+ sims, and a whole lot of subhoods and buildings, and the saving time is never more than a minute or two, even on the biggest and most populated lots. My specs aren't too different from yours.
77  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: relative size of accessories.cache and groups.cache on: 2010 October 17, 07:12:25
I'm fairly certain that at least one of them has to do with the amount of CC you have in your game, but don't quote me on that.
78  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Shadow wtf? on: 2010 October 14, 18:57:32
The shadows may fit with an other object, i.e. the one that these thingies are made of...

...Those are ingame objects, specifically witch reagents, and the shadows are definitely not supposed to look like that.

Do you get it with all/most objects or just these ones?
79  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Accidentally deleted neighbourhood on: 2010 September 14, 16:18:11
Without the neighbourhood file, I'm afraid your 'hood is lost. It's possible you can still extract the characters and lots with SimPE and use them to rebuild. The .reia file is unimportant, it's just the little video that plays when you pick a 'hood in the main menu.
80  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Transferring Neighborhood = Renamed Townies? on: 2010 September 03, 05:19:29
I doubt that's the problem. As far as I can tell, there is no difference between UK English and UK English names in TS2. Why on earth would they bother changing the names? SILLY HAIFENS.

I don't think it's a case of EAxis "bothering" to change the names, but more likely some sort of unintended side effect. I had a quick look at my randomly generated townies in SimPE, and the names are mostly the same in all languages. This could mean that they don't really have names in all the other languages, so perhaps the game rerandomizes them when an EP is installed in a different language, no matter what that language is?

With EAxis, anything is possible.

Either way, this is their doing and not the OP's.
81  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Transferring Neighborhood = Renamed Townies? on: 2010 September 02, 05:04:14
Actually, I remember this happening to me long ago when I installed Pets (I only had the base game at the time). Several of my sims in my Pleasantview got renamed, random townie names which didn't always fit the gender. I don't think it was just former townies that were affected, though, but I don't think any of the original PV sims were. I don't think it's anything dangerous, just some sort of glitch, possibly related to EP changes. You could rename them in SimPE. Which EPs do you have installed?
82  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Neighborhood view from lots - broken? on: 2010 September 01, 18:46:54
I think that's just how the trees work in lot view. I also have everything on the maximum settings and still only see the trees that are close to the lot. I guess that the game might slow down too much if it had to render 500+ trees (which is not really an unreasonable number for a fully decorated 'hood)? Or maybe we both missed something.

84  TS2: Burnination / The War Room / Re: NPC Santa in Sims 2 on: 2010 August 26, 17:01:31
No, what gets me worked up is that I'm verbally attacked just for asking a question.  And second, I didn't triple post.  I posted a response to each person individually. I didn't post the same stuff 3 times.

You didn't get "verbally attacked" for asking a question, that only happened after you decided to get all huffy and insulted over an innocent (and funny) joke. If you'd just shut up and waited a bit longer, maybe you'd even gotten some help, but you had to go and ruin that for yourself. But by all means, keep crying over the injustice of it all. Surely, YOU have done NOTHING wrong!!!1
85  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Changing Strays' Family Name on: 2010 August 23, 19:32:24
Yeah, I figured as much. It's one of those off-limits things.
86  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Changing Strays' Family Name on: 2010 August 23, 14:47:41
It's safe to change, I do this to townie/NPC families all the time. The only one I've never touched is the 'Default' family, where object NPCs (Grim Reaper etc) and dead sims go.
87  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Gypsy matchmaker broken (more than usual) on: 2010 August 17, 14:51:31
To get your neighbourhoods back, simply delete the 'Neighborhoods' folder from your new TS2 folder, and replace it with the one from the old borked one. You don't need anything else.
88  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Green light source. WTF on: 2010 August 17, 05:25:51
Are you sure it didn't say 'green energy source'?
89  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Viewing Hair/Clothing Without In Game BootUP on: 2010 August 12, 15:48:35
It's also really slow. The best method is to either know or find out which files are which CC, view them ingame/in BS, write down or otherwise keep track of which you don't want, and delete the files after you've shut down the program.
90  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Viewing Hair/Clothing Without In Game BootUP on: 2010 August 12, 05:23:39
I'm glad to see you decided to ignore what I said earlier.

Quote from: Tarlia
On second thought, you could probably find the some of problems in the meshes (textures would have nothing to do with this), but I have no experience whatsoever creating or editing meshes. There are tutorials on how to do so, though, and they should also tell you what programs you can use.

All of the programs Mootilda list only show you the textures, and the textures won't show you any problems with the meshes.

I googled 'sims 2 how to make meshes' for you and this was the first search result, although there were many more you might want to check out. This one suggests using Milkshape for mesh-creation (and therefore, you can assume you can also view them with it).

That said, it's entirely possible that even viewing the meshes won't help you see any problems with them, especially since you have no experience making them, and you'll just have to live with sorting through your CC ingame/ in Body Shop like the rest of us. The thing that you want - a convenient all-purpose CC preview program - does not exist. That's what Body Shop is for.

You might want to make things easier for yourself by sorting through your CC properly and NOT have a whole bunch of poorly named files. Clean installer helps you with this, if you use a lot of Sims2Packs. If you turn on debug mode ingame, you can also see the tags of the files in CAS, making it easier to delete the right ones. But all of this does require effort, and yes, it is slow and tedious, but that's how it is with this game. Sorry.

There are tutorials on how to do so, though, and they should also tell you what programs you can use. I expect that gap problems and similar you might find, but clipping through sim's bodies and such I don't think you will see without testing them in the game, since that's an issue of the mesh combined with the animations.
92  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Viewing Hair/Clothing Without In Game BootUP on: 2010 August 10, 05:07:54
You can view both meshes and textures with various programs, but I'm not sure it'll do you much good. It won't show the sim the way you see them ingame.

Start by not downloading anything by Peggy, though. Tongue

(Tumbleweed? MATY is very active. Even if there aren't many new TS2 threads, they usually get an answer if anyone has one.)

It is Pollination Technician.
94  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Plantsim missing face texture on: 2010 August 05, 19:18:57
I played with custom replacements and a vanilla game, newly generated, but still get the error pictured below.

Yeah, try without them. Custom replacements != vanilla game. Smiley
95  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Clean Uberhood (Merged EAxis neighbourhoods) - NOT the same as HP's/Mixreality's on: 2010 August 05, 19:17:11
Been playing the uberhood for about a week and love it, but one snag has come to my attention - when I go to enter the Monty lot in Veronaville, the game crashes. Another person on GardenOfShadows has mentioned the same thing happened to them. I plan on experimenting in the next couple of days to see if I can just move them out and into another house, but thought you should know in case it's the sims and not the lot that's being difficult.

The rest of the hood's been great, though, so thanks for all the hard work putting it together! I'm especially appreciative of all the fixed genetics, like Nervous Subject actually showing a father in his family tree.

Hi there, and thanks for letting me know. I believe I got a report of this once before, but the Monty lot does work just fine in my game, and I know it does for others, too, I've seen their screenshots, etc. Therefore I don't really know what to tell you, except maybe test a fresh version of the uberhood in a game with no downloads, and see if the same thing happens?

Glad you're enjoying it, otherwise!
96  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Getting seasons to stick on: 2010 July 17, 21:07:03
I'm going to be completely unhelpful and tell you that it's always worked perfectly in my game, even when I was playing pretty vanilla Seasons. It always sticks. Have you tried removing your downloads folder etc?
97  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Empty and Cleaned-up Templates. [UPDATED] on: 2010 July 16, 19:25:32
Thanks for the link. I did go and check it out, but it wasn't exactly what I wanted. I did dl it, though in case I can't find an alternative, though I do worry about the fact that she has these set to be extension neighborhoods rather than the original base neighborhoods.

They're not. The separate neighbourhoods are just that - separate, base neighbourhoods. I've only cleaned them. They're subhoods only in the actual, merged uberhood.

I really am seeking an empty template that has no townies or maxis playables attached.

But yeah, it does have Maxis playables. I'm not sure such a thing as what you're requesting actually exists. I'm a little curious about why you'd want it, too - the terrain itself is freely available in the game, and if for some reason you want the horrible houses in Desiderata Valley (though I really cannot imagine why), you could move out the playables, dump everything in the lot bin, and place the houses into a new, empty neighbourhood, using the DV terrain.
98  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Transfering the sims 2 games to another pc without reinstalling? on: 2010 July 12, 19:03:28
I'm not sure how "not having the CDs because they were arred" is a problem. How did you install them in the first place? Just do that again.

Anyway, short answer is no, long answer is... it's complicated. You could probably find out how to do such registry editing on the intarwebs, but unless you're very comfortable and well-versed in the art of editing the registry, it's not something I'd recommend trying.

Just reinstall. Arr some more if you have to, or something.

100  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Clean Uberhood (Merged EAxis neighbourhoods) - NOT the same as HP's/Mixreality's on: 2010 July 08, 18:32:37
I downloaded the light version of Uberhood and there is a problem  with apartment  lots. When I move sims in,  the landlord doesn't show up at all. Instead it gives an error about apartment controller- NPC pool.(the log is attached) I had the same problem when using an empty AL-template with custom hoods.  Even trying to spawn  landlord through mailbox doesn't help. So basicly sims can't rent aparments at all Tongue I wonder has anyone else had issues like this with Uberhood and is there something that can be done to fix it? Besides this problem, everything seems to work like it should and I want to thank for amazing job with this Smiley

That sounds like a problem with your game specifically and not one with the uberhood - you did just say you had the same problem with a custom hood. Landlords spawn just fine in my current in-play uberhood. You may want to check your downloads for conflicting or buggy hacks.

Also, you're welcome.
